First of all, QA doesn't GIVE you anything. Our job is to correct errors and we have rules we MUST go by or we get dinged as well. What does it matter whether it's a long report or short report? What if you make cars and you're at the end of a long line of them and you mess up and forget the brakes? Does that make it any excuse to make the error? We have some awesome MTs who make a mistake now and then and most we just fix and send, but then we get reports where it's obvious nobody even tried, a 40 line report with 25 blanks. We are on a quota and schedule too and nothing you are dinged for is made up. We are not the boss of the company.
