where you had to find your own replacement that was your choice. This poster did not and she should not be treated like that.
You sound like you are bitter because of your situation. Don't push it off on this poster. Folks like you are the kind that run these companies that treat people like this. I ahve worked in-house with folks like you and that is why I got out of in-house years and years ago! Never regretted it and have made a good living all these years.

This year they chose one that really is a good company to work for. nm

A job is not an afterthought to me. I had a FT MT job before my children and CHOSE to work PT so I
can enjoy them. I think anyone with children can understand that. I do take my job seriously and work and am a high producer. I enjoy my job but I also enjoy my other FT job, which is my children!
Wrong. Companies chose to or not to offshore work, nobody makes them. sm
My company does not offshore work, absolutely will not. We've actually gained/kept accounts assuring clients that we do not. We have many clients, cutting edge technology for both customer and employee, a healthy growth rate and a high MT retention rate. It's not impossible to have a successful USA-only based company. Sadly that may not be the norm anymore, but it's a choice MTSO/CEOs (whatever they may be) make and in my opinion maybe cutting some of the bottom line and offshoring is being done in place of producing a high quality of work that keeps a customer happy and not looking around for other service options. Subsequently I think these companies then suffer inferior work further because they are paying less and/or maybe have contractural obligations. Personally I'd like to think they'd still prefer high quality to low prices and inferior product. I have to wonder if these offshore companies are losing just as many accounts because of their product. I just know I am glad I work for a company who doesn't outsource, doesn't plan to, and has every intention to remain successful because quality does count.
That is one of many reasons why I chose to work at home! No thanks to in-house! Good luck. nm

Why I chose MT....
plain and simple I wanted to be home for my children...I worked in-house before I worked at home and am so glad to be working at home...the pros definitely outway the cons....My husband works in sales/delivery and his bennies are awesome..only pays about 30.00 a week for the 4 of us...I am able to work part-time right now because of him...will eventually go back to full-time and more money when my baby is a bit older, only 12 weeks old now...
not sure who you chose but...
Webmedx was wonderful...I worked for them before having my children and absolutely loved them...I needed to cut hours way back so I resigned but I hope to go back as soon as my kids are older.
No they can't just no you can chose to say no to
You are working for them so the client is their client and not yours, hence they can say when they want the work done, but you can say no, I won't do it then. So then, they look for someone else. Unfortunate, but true especially in this profession. Setting hours goes against my grain as an IC. I stay away from those types of positions. Set hours/days, etc. are for employees not ICs, but you can chose not to take their offer.
You should of chose a better
husband if you wanted to be SAHM, plain and simple. Don't play the women's libber's. Where do you live, Utah?
Why do you think because you chose to
work 3rd shift that everyone should? Should we not have a choice? Why force your own choices on everyone else? Should we all freak on you because you say you don't work weekends? It's the same thing... Live and let live....
If was YOU who chose to take on those duties. sm
And it is YOU who decided to take on these duties. If all owners of transcription companies, big and small, would demand higher pay from clients, and not try to undercut each other, they could pay higher wages. And don't moan about then jobs would be offshored. If clients had to get these jobs straight from overseas with no US editing, offshoring would stop immediately.
You are welcome, I chose IC at Medware
as I do not need the insurance. Plus I have always been an IC and I feel more comfortable with that than being an employee, not only at Medware but at other places. I stay busy at Medware so they definately have the work. It's what works best for me right now.
Why I chose transcription..
First off, I do not have a spouse or a significant other.
I went back to a local college to take a transcription course for a few reasons. First, I was working for a credit reporting agency for $5.00 an hour (15 years ago), and to put it bluntly, found out I just could not deal working with the public, especially in the setting where a good percentage of the people you deal with are irate. One of my coworkers mentioned medical transcription, and it sounded perfect for me. I could sit in my own little corner, do my work, and be left alone for the most part. Plus, where I live it is super cheap to live and I was making a lot more money than I did before, allowing me to save up and have a down payment for my house. I had the opportunity back then to type nothing but ERs and I took full advantage of it, working 6 days a week, and there was never a shortage of work.
It was never my choice to work at home. I do miss the interaction with and meeting new people through work. Now I never see an ER note, the work keeps getting tougher with more ESL's, and the pay is going down along with the benefits. Also, someone in India is now typing my favorite account.
I chose transcription
because I loved the medical field (worked at 2 hospitals in the admissions department), but was tired of the politics at work, and having to work with 20+ hormonal, gossipy women in one department. I also wanted something with less patient contact - it was heartbreaking getting to know someone who came in every day for radiation treatments or something similar, and finding out that they only had 2 weeks to live or something. It was awful! SO, I started looking into transcription as something I could do from home - which is perfect for me too, because now I can work all day by myself (with my dogs to keep me company). I don't mind working at home all day without people contact - I almost prefer it that way. I have become a less stressed person for it.
My DH worked as a truck driver/heavy equipment operator before, but needed to find something less stressful on his body. He had built me a massage table for my birthday after we first got married (almost 8 years ago), and then took a course in massage at the local college. He loved it, and decided that was what he wanted to do full-time; so he went to school for it, and now he has his own business as a massage therapist. As he is self-employed, he doesn't get any benefits, so we have individual insurance coverage for both of us. I am actually going to be working for a new company soon that does offer some benefits, so I will at least be covered under group coverage. He will continue with the individual coverage, as it is cheaper.
why I chose transcription
I actually swore I would never do transcription after going through a tech school for Medical Secretary diploma. Hated it. Only job I could find was transcription. I actually left the field for a few years to work at a bank. But then, when I had to take that beautiful baby daughter of mine to a sitter 45 hours a week, I decided to come back to transcription (never left it COMPLETELY, always Filled in), so I could be home with our kids. It was important to both my husband and I, but could not handle it financially without me working. I would not trade it for the world, as I have seen my kids through everything. I know my children, they know me, they know they can come to me. I am there every morning and every afternoon . . . would not miss these memories for the world. It got REALLY tought at times, but well worth it. It's all about the children.
glad I chose JLG over KS

Landmark vs MDI...which do I chose?
Landmark only does transcription which is a positive IMO. I would be doing only operative notes (which is my favorite work type) and would be an IC so my schedule would be flexible. No required line count per day. The only thing holding me back is I'm afraid of running out of work (I'm coming from MQ where I have a cesspool to chose from and rarely run out). I would be working on Bayscribe. I could also work 4 days a week (I'm part-time).
I also have an interview next week with MDI. For some reason I have a sense with them it's more secure. Maybe because I see more posts about them and that they are a larger company?
Thanks!
I'm really surprised they chose you
I've read your posts about TT and they seem rather rational and benign. I wonder why they would choose you over, say, that one who posts on here in all caps saying they are 'stealing' her lines and other rants which could be construed as libelous if she has no proof of her claims.
I'm sitting here kind of shaking my head wondering why they picked you, unless you were the most easily identifiable.
Is anyone else named in the suit, or is it just you?
If you need benefits, you chose correctly.

I chose to stick with Clinic.....sm
because, in my experience, they are almost always closed or at least very, very slow on holidays.
So, over the years I decided I wanted a M-F schedule with holidays off. That's why I stick with Clinic notes.
Good luck!
Well there are other MTs who just applied that have said they have to clock in and out and chose
not to get into that so not sure why some do and some dont. Maybe different recruiters. Cant answer that.
Have any of you MDI employees lost your job or chose.. sm
to leave since they switched some accounts to VR? I was thinking of applying but unsure now after reading about the VR switch on some accounts. I wondered how many employees are affected by it and whether or not to consider applying as I am only interested in straight transcription and not VR.
sorry...if I chose not to take the benefits as I don't need them. Never heard back. nm
s
OK - your other post said you chose this account because of the challenge
nm
how do we work it? Easy answer - work for another company. That happened with the company
I was working for. I would wake up at 4 a.m. AND ON THE WEEKENDS TOO because they needed "coverage" supposedly and I would sit until 9:30 or noon without any work. Sorry, but my rent of $1450/month could not be paid with only $57/day. So I got another job and when I got the equipment and everything, then I quit for the other employer.
I have talked to MANY DSG workers who are badly treated. I chose to move on when I had enough!
Feel sorry for those who are miserable and stay anyway.
Must be a small company. I have never talked to the owner of the company I work for. sm
He wouldn't have time. Why would someone talk directly to the MTSO? Most do not know (or care) about the details just the big picture.
Let me know if you pursue this company. I would like to work for a MN company as an employee?
Let me know! Thanks!
Chasing work from company to company - Have any of you ever watched (sm)
5 year olds learning to play soccer? The ball is in play and no matter what the coahes say ALL the kids go running for the ball. Maybe we are like that, masses of us going from company to company in search of work. This company has a new account BOOM here we go. Now it is out. Let's go here.
Yep, I think it is a big game someone is playing with us. Not a particularly funny one either.
What is the best company to go to for IC that is a nice company to work for that has work for you
and also is interested if you want to work part time at some point.
Absolutely not! I work for the best MTSO. I am have been so blessed to work for the small company I
I will share this about the MTSO I work for. I called her late last Wednesday night after Church and told her I was compelled to help out with Hurricaine Katrina in some way and an opportunity arose for a small group from my Church to go to Louisianna this coming week. Would she be able to cover my work. She told me no problem without any hesitation and even donated money for the trip.
And I am sure there are plenty of good companies out there to work for. To compare us to migrant workers is just not right.
I lost an acct with MQ, called the hospital and they told me who had the acct. I chose not to go wi
nm
Like I said - it depends who you work for. I work for a hospital at home - not a company. nm

I used to work for a company who separated the MTs by work type daily. sm
regret ever leaving that company. we had a max of 4 MTs typing a large training hospital with clinics. i was assigned consults and discharges with consults being my priority. another MT had ops and admits, etc. it worked so much better. we were RARELY out of TAT and each of us were trained on other report types for backup in case someone need to take off. not to mention that we were easily able to learn the ESLs because we got them repeatively enough to learn them, set up templates, etc. much, much more productive for us as MTs, for the company as work flow, and i am sure for the dictator because they got someone who knew them and their dictations well enough to be accurate. i don't understand why large MTSOs cannot comprehend how much more beneficial that would be.
I actually left about a year ago and work for another company that's running out of work. Have to
x
I so wholeheartedly agree with you. Don't work for KS but work for SS - another company bashed
Works GREAT for me and I love SS. I never really care what the negatives are as I have found they are usually people that can't make their lines, don't work the hours they commit to or just overall do not care!
I work for an all-US company and refuse to work for one that offshores. Best of luck to you. nm
nm
Why would you want to work for a company with no QA? Anyways the only company that comes to mind is
I worked for in the past which is Medquist NJ Radiology.
Work PT for a company and noticed something odd. When I work the day shift I get (sm)
actually fairly good dictators, a couple of toughies, but no more than one would expect. When I do the late afternoon/early evening shift it is like night and day. I get some really crummy dictators and tons of problem/miscoded reports.
They have said that there is no cherry picking able to be done with this program so I just have to wonder if the crappy dictators can't get to the dictate stations until after 4 p.m. or what?
Nuff said, back to work. Thanks for letting me air it out.
I work for a company in FL. I pull my work off their
system in FL, so they do not pay state taxes. I've been there 5 years and they have never paid state tax. Don't know my state tax code, but since they are in a different state can't see how it would apply anyway. The IRS hasn't complained. I increased DH state tax deduction to compensate instead of having to pay quarterly taxes.
I work for a company with lots of work,
I work a second/third shift position and I still run out of work. I asked for a secondary account probably 6 weeks ago and haven't received one yet.
You can call the MTSO or your supervisior, but they really don't care, the work is getting done and that is all that really matters.
I work for another company...
MQ had no problem with it when they hired me.
NEVER pay a company to work for them.
That is a scam.
There is a difference in renting equipment or putting up a deposit for equipment to be sent to you.
How do you have to pay to work for them?
the company I work for...
pays the same way. As long as you have direct deposit, it really isn't that bad. With my company the pay period ends the 15th and the last day of the month, and checks are either sent out or deposited on the 20th and 5th. The main difference is that you never have a chance for those 2 bonus pay months where you receive 3 paychecks instead of just 2.
I work for this company too and my DD have never been
late. I did receive my check in the mail today, the day after it was scheduled for DD, and it was mailed on 12/7, the day before DD is scheduled. A bit of an inconvenience, but a one time issue.
I think we work for the same company.
I was told it was not a sign on bonus, only for MTs in good standing with the company. The shortages in the paychecks are for the 30% deduction for headers and footers (that we do not type).
If you want to work for a company
than OSi is for you.
We know we work for the best company (sm)
so let's get together and share info! Email me if you want to be part of a mailing list. Please indicate your account(s).
I do not want to work for a company
the comapnies who do offshore so I will not waste my time testing.
Thanks
Would you work for a company
that made you sign an agreement not to mention the name anywhere on the internet, web forums and agreed not to endeavour to form or join a union?
Which company is the best to work for...
Looking for a good company, decent pay and no ESL's. Is there a company out there that anyone knows of???
I work for a company that does that...sm
I have worked for a company for a couple of years that pays like that (still there). The way they explained it when I started was that if you are an IC, they need to bill and get payment from your accounts (rather than you invoicing the company) and then after that 1st 30-day cycle, your first check is 2 weeks after that, so 6 weeks all together. confused anyone yet?? At first it was difficult waiting, but every 2 weeks after that like clockwork I get paid. The way I look at it is that if I ever leave them I still get paid for a month and a half.
Can you say which state this company is in??
