Heard their platform is SLOW.
Any details on that? If you can't make enough lines, then the extra money isn't really worth it, is it? Also, do they not provide equipment anymore? THANKS!
It's not just the platform and accounts that slow you down.
I haven’t worked for WebMedX for a couple of years, but the numbers I had to work with then were as follows (DISCLAIMER: Just as I was leaving, they were thinking about totally revamping their bonus system, so the numbers below are probably not currently accurate, but will give you some idea of what WMX thinks their MTs are capable of):
140 lines per hour average minimum. New employees placed on 90 day probationary status to learn platform and account specifics. Expected to reach 150 lines per hour average after 4 weeks. Line defined as 65-character line, which includes all body characters and spaces inclusive of formatting characters such as bold, italics, underlines, caps and tabs. Header and footer characters are not included in the line count.
Bonus paid as follows (in addition to your base pay per line):
Average lines/hr Bonus per line
160 to 180 = .0015
181 to 220 = .0030
221 to 250 = .0050
251 to 275 = .0075
276 to 299 = .0100
300+ = .0150
This is for the average for the entire two week pay period, so if you have a really great day and hit 500 lines per hour, then have several really bad days at 100 lines per hour, they take the average over those two weeks.
HOWEVER, if you fall below 140 lines per hour average, they DEDUCT pay:
0 to 124 = - .005
125 to 139 = - .0025
WMX is definitely looking to make a profit, so my way of thinking is they feel confident in offering a bonus that will not affect their bottom line and, as far as they are concerned, not going to be achieved by the majority of the MTs working for them. In fact, when I left, many MTs were complaining that they were no longer getting the same bonuses as they had just a few months prior and they were MTs who had worked for WMX for several years and were already very familiar with the platform and accounts.
As far as getting back up to speed, there are several factors that prevent smooth transition. First, you are on 100% QA review for the first couple of weeks, at least, and depending on the Editors you get, you may have to completely rethink what you have learned before. Then, there is the dreaded time clock. It is totally automatic. From the minute you log on to get your first report, you are on the clock. If you stop to look up a drug or find a new surgical instrument, your line count is affected. They tell you to log out for everything when you are not actually typing. That means even 2 minutes to stretch or go get a drink from the kitchen. Next, they seemed to have a lot of platform slowness. There were times when you could sit for a minute or more just to switch from the demographics page to the actual transcription page, or when trying to release the report. Sometimes, the platform would just freeze altogether, and you had to reboot. And they do periodically run out of work, depending on the accounts you have. So, if you want to keep your line count up, you have to keep logging off, which makes an 8 hour shift turn into a 10 to 12 hour day. Some people with families just don’t have the time for that. Not to mention, if they are in overtime, if you already have to put in a 10 hour day to get an 8 hour shift in, overtime will probably have to be on your days off. Also, most of their accounts are now going to ASR/Speech Recognition, and that system has many bugs left to be worked out that has caused many MTs to complain that they are not making as much money as they were before.
I am sure there are WebMedX MTs just itching to correct me and let you know how great WMX is. The above are my personal observations/opinions while working for them, just to give you another perspective.
Good luck.
Platform runs too slow for my expander
Spell checker you have to provide. Management - I experienced two good team leads, neither of whom are there anymore, other than that, not impressed. Have had situations where what I earned did not match what I was paid. Last team lead I had had a problem with being rude and expecting everone to drop their previously scheduled lives for her, while she was virtually unreachable to us otherwise. They do something every year and can a bunch of editors or MTs, bizarre yearly ritual. Perhaps things will be different now, perhaps not. Good luck either way!
Support very slow, had to train myself on platform. Trainer kept

Platform a bit slow, loads of material to know on each acct, they overhired
for the acct they put me on, so I sit and wait for work to roll in. They gave me a secondary acct, but again I wait. I think some are happy there, I might be if they didn't overhire and they beefed up their platform to move a little quicker.
Meditech is clunky so to speak.
Meditech is to mainstream hospital dictation and not MT friendly at all. You have to go through a lot of screens. Normals do not come easy and templates do not come easy. You have to use your F keys to maneuver through the system. It tends to go down a lot as well and you can lose your report unless the Recover function is working properly. Be careful to save your report occasionally, but this means going in and out of the report several times, holding up production. The spell check is not medical. These are all my opinions and I worked in Meditech for 10 years. If you accept a position, make sure it is on the higher end of pay because the production is awful.
I know enterprise is a clunky old thing
but some people like it. It is rather slow too and hangs up at times. What's really the worst is when you click to submit your document and it disappears and you have to do it over. It was a real pain to me when I used it. On the other hand, the tech support people were very nice. I don't know anything about chartmatrix.
Old posts say you get switched around a lot and the software is clunky. What about

Clunky program, and I have to agree about the bad communication. nm

Good account, clunky software
Umph!!! I found a job with great accounts, but their software is clunky, hard to manuever, and hard to make line count with. Several times a day, I have to log out and log back in because the software freezes up. No one in the tech department can do anything or unwilling to do anything. I love this account, but it is virtually impossible to make any money. I asked the tech department to at least work with me and my own macros and they never did. They just told me I could not use my own macros without even trying to convert my IT. Have anyone else had good accounts with clear dictators, but have the worst software program to work in. What on earth am I going to do now!!!!!
Depends on the account. Work on VR lately has been slow. Just like all companies, we have slow times
Honestly though, I have only had 2-3 times in the past 2 years where it was like the other day...no work... It did pick up later but I just think it's important not to make someone think we're overloaded with work all the time. That would not be fair to them if they end up with high expectations.
Very nice people, but only 7.5 cpl for experience. They use MPWord. It's kind of clunky & not aut
s
No - it is not always slow! Depends on the company and hospital. I have never been slow this time
Slow time is usually in September when everyone is back to work/school from the summer months.
Been doing this 24 years and never slow this time of year. Actually, I am drowning in work - can't keep up.
A 2006 ad said they use MT-World software. I found it kind of clunky using it for another service.

RISS is not a platform. RIS stands for Radiology Information System. The platform sm
would be EXText.
MDI-MD platform is fast, not full of problems like Transcend platform or MDI-FL
On Transcend platform you have to click, click, click all day and still get errors, change screens constantly - its a nightmare to work in.
Yes, SPi does use this platform....it's a great platform, but not worth working for SPi. nm

Bad Platform. I personally know of 3 MTs who left because of the platform.
If you are like me, the bottom line is wages and what I get in my check. I have never worked for Amphion, but I personally know of 3 MTs who worked part-time at Amphion before quitting their other service to see what Amphion had to offer before it was too late. All 3 quit Amphion and stayed with their other service because of the Amphion platform. Too hard to make any decent lines.
Something to think about.

To all of us trying our hardest to grab our work when it is available, and then still only make 24 bucks a day because of the garbage platform.
What recent changes? nm

This was recent thank you
I did take a leap of faith with them and they do pay on time now. They turned that around but nothing else. I stuck up for them and got burned bigtime. All I said was they do not understand what an IC is and were very rude when I pointed it out. Not a vendetta, just a warning. Check them out and ask a lot of questions for clarification. That was all i was saying.
Anything recent on SPi - sm
Since the archives are acting up, need something current on SPi from someone in the know. Pay, work schedules, how they are to work with, etc.
Thanks.
Not recent, but I can say ...
Of all the companies I've worked for, they were by far and away my favorite. Easy platform, great dictators, (mostly) fantastic management. But, it's been over 4 years since I've worked for them.
I had been with them for a couple of years, had my set dictators, and they hired a new manager for my account who completely ripped everyone up and around and didn't communicate at all what she was doing or why. Long story short, there was a pretty big fall out with that account and several of us left. A month or two later, I heard she was fired.
I think about going back to them sometimes, honestly. And I would in a heartbeat, if they were like the old T-C I worked for back in the day. Can't say if they are or not, but historically they were a great company to work for.
Good luck!
Is there anything recent in there?
Everything I saw was from 4 to 6 years ago in the archives when they were using C-phones and only hiring IC's.
Does anyone work there now or worked there recently with any insight?
Anyone have recent info on OSI? nm
.
6 to 7-1/2 cpl for the most recent job posting!!! Don't think much of us, do they?...nm
s
What's up with all the recent firings?

Anyone have any recent OSI information?
Are benefits as good as they sound? How's the pay rate for acute and/or radiology? How are they to work for? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
Any recent info on DSG?
Have been offered a job and wondering of pros and cons. TIA.
two recent interviews
I thought you might enjoy these two tidbits from recent interviews with unnamed companies. When I asked the first recruiter/owner about the insurance they offered in their ad, I was told that contract had lapsed and there was not a new one signed yet. She went on to volunteer her opinion that people are better off without health insurance -- that way you can use the free clinics (TRUE story). The second one advertised 8.5 to 10 cpl transcription and 0.4 to 0.5 VR. Unfortunately, those positions (although I applied within minutes of the post) were filled but I was offered 8 cpl transcription and 0.3 VR. Bait and switch much?
You will see that their most recent posting was for QA!
nm
Any recent information on
TIA
Anyone with recent info on
how work is at Stenomed, ad on job board? TIA
Yes, recent experience
I applied in late August, but it took until just a week ago to receive passwords to work.
Very hands off management in my opinion, although very polite on phone. I think there is just not enough staff.
Also, very low error rate threshhold , but currently no QA and/or no way to flag a report. I was very very uncomfortable with the set up so I did not proceed.
YOU; however, might have better luck. :)
MDI-MD - Recent Hires
Just curious - if you had a phone interview, was the recruiter on time to call you? I had one scheduled but haven't received any contact.
Anyone else with this experience?
Any recent info on TNI?
Feel free to e-mail me if you don't feel comfortable posting. Thanks!
Any recent SPi info? sm
The archives have nothing very recent and nothing very nice to say about this company. Have things improved there over the last year? I notice their line count requirements are lower than most companies. Does this indicate an inability to provide MTs with enough work or good sound files? ANY recent information would be appreciated. Thanks!
Did you apply to either of their most recent ads and if so
did you hear back from them?
Recent TTS info anyone? (sm)
Wondering if anybody could post updated, recent info on TTS as to how the work load and getting paid on time have been for the past 6 months or so ??? TIA.
Is two months ago recent enough?.....
....I sincerely doubt they have changed their ways in the past two months, since I was terminated.
Be very, very careful if you accept any of their offers. Everything stated in old posts here are correct....and I know this by first hand experience and also from co-workers who had been there at the same time as I was, and experienced same or worse.....eventually.....
I wish you luck, but I'm afraid you will be sadly disappointed, perhaps not right away, but given enough time, if you go to work for them.
I noticed recent ads for MDI-MD
on MTJobs says full and part-time IC positions are available. Something new they are offering?
Was this a recent move?
Because it seems like everyone has been pretty happy there, that is, not hearing much complaints here on the board. Lack of work maybe?
recent posts...
Pay is late. Recruiter takes forever to get back with you, if ever.
chronicle-recent
I just left there about 3 weeks ago. They have Apex and another platform now. I didn't have any problems with the platform I was on. Work volumes were very, very low most days. I had 2 different accounts and there was no work on either for several days at a time. I didn't have problems with QA. My problem was with disorganization. I liked the company as a whole and I loved my account, but I wouldn't go back mainly because of the low work and no opportunity to make up time because of low work volumes most of the time.
To those of you recent MDI hires...sm
Were you hired just by submitting your resume, or was MDI advertising for help at the time? How long between the time you sent your resume and the time they called? Thanks.
Recent post on AOL
There was a recent post on AOL about earning extra money with a second job during the recession One of the jobs listed was medical transcription and the article stated if you can type and have excellent English skills you can do this job at home and earn extra money -- My supervisor informed me of the link originally, then I saw it later that day -- no wonder this profession has gone downhill :(
