AMEN SISTER! You sure can tell who is the butt-kisser on this board.. because most of the posts are agreeable to each other's except hers, the MT that says she is NOT a QA person or the Manager. You are right, that newsletter was ridiculous, it sounded like a kid about 14 who went on he first trip alone! After all, when the present QA person didn't get the job, wasn't she so upset she was "going on strike"... LOL...and to that person who talked about MTs being sued, cite me a case and I will reasearch it! Actually, what about the docs that dictate the wrong medications on the wrong patient? Is that the MT's fault? I THINK NOT.

To NOT A SHEEP - I beg your pardon!
First of all, I am don't consider myself one of the "favorites" that you mentioned on your post. I don't get gravy jobs. Au contraire! I'm certain that some people sign out when they see bad dictators because I often get only really bad dictators, but aside from joking about them, I still do them. I don't suck up to anyone. I have not had a raise. The only bonuses I have received were for working extra. I am aware that I am not the only person to experience a disaster (a month after having cancer surgery, mind you), but I received no money from OSi simply for that reason. I can type over 100 words a minute, but I stay on a job until I know that I have given it my best, and QA very, very seldom receives a job from me. I appreciate the people who have shown empathy and tolerance, especially when I'm sure that I was a real handful, and they have been as accommodating as they could reasonably be. I have just lived through a year from hell that is ongoing, and OSi has treated me better than I could ever have expected. I am not trying to be a "favorite." I am simply trying to do the best job that I can. When I take a person's money, I accept no less from myself than to actually work to earn it. I have years and years of experience, probably more years than you have been on this earth, as I cannot believe that a person with maturity and wisdom could write such bunk. I have probably forgotten more than you will ever learn, but I still know my place. I frankly don't care what you say about me. You don't write my paycheck. My loyalty lies to my employer, who has put up with me when they probably would rather have strangled me!
Not a sheep anymore
Only when WE the people stop being sheeple will the SUITS pay attention.
Enjoy your day.
are we sheep or lamb?
Just because you haven't run across it before doesn't mean the IRS hasn't seen ir or other MTs haven't seen it. Rah for you for using the basics needed to access work for free so far (does that hurt you or help you), but it does not not mean you don't have to pay to access the work now or in the future. So what if you worked in 3-plus platforms without having to pay for it and so what if you did not have to pay for it in the past.
I love the tax deductions I get. Get real and take advantage of the tax benefits of having to pay to have a job. This is something the true independent contractor or employee has been paying as a cost of business for years. Why are should you get special treatment? Suck it up and pay for it or get out of the business and quit discouraging future MTs from working. Think about what programmers working for (example) IBM, tax preparers, independent writer, productition-based pharmacy tech or any other IC or employee gets to claim for deductions - don't Postal Service employees get to claim their uniforms?. Ask a tax attorney or accountant or even the IRS web site if you don't believe what I say, but suck it up and act like a grownup.
Got uniform expense? Got equipment expense? Got lots of other expenses? Claim it on your tax return. If a future MT should be discouraged about taking classes to enter the profession, it should be based on real concerns like not finding an employer willing to mentor with a liveable wage, not because expenses that are tax deductible that you say should not be a personal expense encourage it. If you want to work as an employee, go for it, and then (if you are smart) claim non-paid expenses as a tax benefit.
never had a nosebleed, never willl. 'bout you?
that should of been "not sure about"....sorry....
xx
sorry, should be "not" only

More like "NOT NOWING" how
:{
?? If she's a recruiter only, how can she "not pay?"
Also, I learned a few years ago that there are some individual recruiters who recruit for several different MT companies.
I just don't understand what this post is about. Are you saying All Type doesn't pay?? How can a recruiter not pay? Confusing.
What's "not fair" about PTO?
There is nothing that mandates how much or how little PTO you are given. Fair sounds like an entitlement mentality. (I am an IC/SE and have no PTO but so what? I think that is perfectly fair. I knew the terms of my employmentment when I signed the contract.) Too much what's in it for me, not enough what can I do for the company. Just saying, that's all.
Why didn't you just write down "Not enough." nm
:}
upstateMT, what do you mean, they are "not registered in NY" - sm
I don't understand your post. Do you mean that this particular company will not hire people living in NY state?
What part of upstate are you from? :)
"Not very good" is an understatement.

What it means: "Not enough US MT's who want to work
Reading between-the-lines:
'--- which is exactly what we planned when we dropped US MT pay, so we'd have an *excuse* to choose offshore first, US workers second.'
That eScription ad sure goes against 'Truth-in-advertising', doesn't it?
Also, for "not my experience" poster.
You mentioned in your post, I've seen damned little willingness on the part of many MTs to be flexible about their shifts or workdays. Everyone wants to work 9-5, M-F. This, even while they complain about the line rate when most companies offer rather handsome differentials for working evenings and nights.
If you used to make 14 cpl working Monday through Friday, 9-5, how willing would YOU be to work until 11 p.m., the only time to spend with your kids when they get home from school, for a meager quarter or half cent increase in line pay? Even with these handsome differentials (what a joke) MTSOs are still only paying 8.5, 9, or 10 cpl! And you whine that the MTs aren't professional because they don't want to give up their lives for that...compared to the 14 cpl or more they used to get??? Sure the doctors still dictate over the weekends and nurses still handle care over the weekend, but they are paid quite a handsome salary. If you want dedication, skill, and experience from domestic MTs, PAY FOR IT!! Don't whine that American MTs aren't out there.
Delete extra "not", too early! nm

Meant to say "not the poster you were talking to" NM
xxx
So obvious "Not KS". Why would another MTSO post
in a thread about another MTSO? So full of BS. We're not stupid; just underpaid.
Guess "not funny" is management! nm

"not their problem" -- you signed the contract ....
seriously, they know that a significant number of new hires (particularly when the experience required is low) are not going to work out ... they need a constant supply of warm bodies to ensure the work get done ... Welcome to labor relations USA-style. There is no good-faith social contract. More and more companies see their primary purpose in existence as maximizing profits. Keeping their clients, if not happy, mollified, so they don't leave is job #2. We may not even be in the top #5 concerns
Oops...meant to say "not acceptable"
:}
Can you say, "not an authorized representative", boys and girls?
