there are changes right now that people are not happy with. My platform is not included in those changes. Their pay is average, they have incentives, insurance is not good.
Depends on which platform
Some are on ChartMatrix which I believe is okay. I am on another which is awful. Mine was supposed to get changed over to ChartMatrix a few weeks ago, but hasn't. I've tried asking when this is going to happen, but no one answers. Feel like I've been duped. Liked them, but feel used and stuck on this archaic system with no light at the end of the tunnel, when I was promised it was a short term platform for this account.
Depends on which platform you are using..sm
Merit is a propietary platform and you have to build you glossary...can't copy it over. Not sure about ExText.
It depends...which platform are you on? nm

all depends on what platform you are used to
I like certain things about Bayscribe, find other things irritating and counter-productive. I have worked on several different platforms with different companies. Bayscribe is better than some, pretty straightforward (especially if you are coming from DOS), but I've worked on better.
depends on the platform used,
I made more at 6.5 because of a simple easy platform I worked on. At 9.5, everything needed to be filled in, slowed me down. cpl does not matter until you know what platform you're working on.
Depends on platform
They are all different. Some platforms you may be able to type 170-200 lph but then your line rate is probably going to be adjusted accordingly. Other platforms such as Extext, you are lucky to do around 130 lph comfortably. DocQScribe maybe 120 lph. Lines are very hard to make these days, they just keep skimping away those lines that we used to get credit for, headers, footers, sometimes even spaces, and don't forget those unseen commands on a page, they have stripped those. Hospitals got wise to this, companies had to make adjustments and passed this on to the MTs. Its very hard to get a decent line count and this is why a lot of MTs are working more than one job. Most of us don't make anymore than $12 to $14 per hour. I guess to a new MT graduate this must be great money, beats minimum wage. But, they will not be seeing any big money like we saw years ago, its a thing of the past.

It depends on the platform
If MTs can self-assign jobs, you can tell if someone signs out of difficult jobs or assigns all the easy dictators to themselves, habitually.
Depends on what platform you get.
From what I know, most accounts are awful, loaded with ESL. Work load is feast or famine, but lately more famine than feast. The BeyondTxt platform is not good. Pay scale is average to low.
depends on what platform you worked on
They arent all great, but they arent all bad. When did you do your time there?
The platform depends on the account. There are several.

My opinion is a lot depends on the platform
Not all are created equal.
IMHO, sEscription is the cream of the crop and I suspect it is the platform many of we high producers have been blessed to work on.
JMHO.
It depends on the account. They use the platform of the hospital or they use
either Scribe or TA Plus. All are easy to use and learn. I am on a Meditech account and love it but it is a hospital. Depends what you are looking for. I do not get shift differential but my hours are flexible as long as I get my 1200 lines in on the calendar day.
Nice people there. Depends on what platform. sm
It was Inscribe. Cumbersome with lots of entries to make in demographics fields, many doctor addresses to look up and fill in, and differing specs for each account. They have a lot of work, but I had to be put on several different accounts to stay busy. I had a hard time getting the minimum lines in each day because I spent so much time fiddling with other things and looking up doc names, specs, jumping between accounts, etc. It was far too much hassle for ME for the line rate, which was 7-8 cpl depending how many lines you did per week. It wasn't just me, either, because I spoke to another experienced MT who hired on around the same time and she was feeling the same way.
The cons are very nice and helpful people, pay was on time and correct, the doctors were clear with hardly any ESLs, and there seemed to be plenty of work, albeit on several different accounts. I would've probably stayed there if not for that platform. http://forum.mtstars.com/smileys/sowhat.gif
It really depends on what you're looking for.
Not every company can be a perfect fit for every employee. Not every employee is a perfect fit for every company.
Pros: Pay was always on time, line count was correct, platform was easy, office staff and management personnel were friendly and caring, plenty of work with extra work available often, they provided equipment free of charge, pick your own schedule, change accounts if one was too difficult, they provided software and even Expander dictionaries.
Cons: I sometimes could not dial in during my scheduled hours as others were using the dial-in lines to take advantage of the incentive and bonus pay or working beyond their scheduled hours. Some of their accounts are pretty tough with ESLs, numerous dictators and short reports, but you can step down to easier accounts. I didn't want to pay for unlimited long distance and tie up my phone line all day to work. My personal life was also in an upheaval at the time.
Would I ever work for them again? Yes. Did the pros outweigh the cons? Yes. I certainly was not a "pet" either.
It all depends on which way you're looking at it. ;)x

It also depends on whether you're
paid on salary or cpl. Also, most companies have a schedule for QA as far as hours worked, but I know of one company who pays by salary and doesn't care how many hours their QA has to put in to get the work done which is not good.
actually it depends on which account you're on
x
depends on how many specialties you're doing.

Also depends on what office you're working under
Not sure how that's going to change after the buyout, but I've heard widely varying reports depending on region.
Depends on if you're talking about US employees only or
Still at about 12K total including ICs and ILPs.
depends; can make more $ on easy platform/7 than hard platofrm/8-9 cents

Depends. If you're hourly, you acrue immediately!

TransHealth has never used the Meditech platform. I think you're confused. nm
I believe it depends on what platform u work on. I work on
Extext and I love it!!!!! I have not transcribed even part time in years. First night in less than 2 hours hit 300+ lines. Second night a little over 2 hours hit 350+ lines. This is all learning a new system so I find it interesting and fun.
I've easily done 600, but it depends on the way a company counts lines and it depends on the
dictators. Obviously, if you have a good share of ESL, there is no way you could ever do 600 or 700. On really difficult ones, I usually run around 400 lines an hour and I have been working on this platform for 3 years.
RISS is not a platform. RIS stands for Radiology Information System. The platform sm
would be EXText.
MDI-MD platform is fast, not full of problems like Transcend platform or MDI-FL
On Transcend platform you have to click, click, click all day and still get errors, change screens constantly - its a nightmare to work in.
Yes, SPi does use this platform....it's a great platform, but not worth working for SPi. nm

Hope you're enjoying those slave wages you're earning.

Bad Platform. I personally know of 3 MTs who left because of the platform.
If you are like me, the bottom line is wages and what I get in my check. I have never worked for Amphion, but I personally know of 3 MTs who worked part-time at Amphion before quitting their other service to see what Amphion had to offer before it was too late. All 3 quit Amphion and stayed with their other service because of the Amphion platform. Too hard to make any decent lines.
Something to think about.

To all of us trying our hardest to grab our work when it is available, and then still only make 24 bucks a day because of the garbage platform.
So you guys feel you're getting paid what you're worth with VR?
I'm not trying to be snarky. I've never done VR, so I'm trying to understand.
You're happy with your paycheck with VR? Do you find the files to be as bad as the original post implied?
So you're telling me, basically, they're bad news?
They offered me 0.095/line and you know - it sounded too good to be true, but I SWEAR the recruiter told me they do not outsource. Oh brother... I just wish they'd be honest. I really don't know what to do.

s
No, they're not losing money....they're gaining!
If a company charges their clients by the line, I'm sure that line rate does not go down even though the MTs pay does.
ASR pays about 2/3 normal line rate to its MTs. Their ultimate goal is to have the MTs do twice as much work. Therefore, the client is getting their work faster, but paying their normal rate, while corporate gets that money and the MTs get the lower line rate.
Whether the newbies want to realize it or not, MTSOs have not increased MTs' salaries in the past 10 years. They still start out at the same pay as the last century!
This used to be a very lucrative profession. Nowadays, most MTs are considered to be paid at the poverty level. You don't believe me, look it up!
Hey, you're in luck then. They're hiring! (nm)
