The individual MT who chooses IC status is simply a miniaturized MTSO. The MTSO looks for business (i.e. hospital, doctor's office). They offer their service to a potential client. They say, This is what we can do for you. This is what our service will charge you. The client cannot tell the MTSO, this is the shift you have to work, nor can they tell them, this is what we'll pay you per line/page/report. They also cannot tell you that you have to work full time. --- The key is who has the element of control. This information is readily available at the www.irs.gov web site.
