I can't afford to stay with VR. If they paid more, I'd stay.
The situation sucks. I really liked this company when I started there. I know they read these forums, and they are aware that we are unhappy over VR line rates. They stroke us with cute emails and say we're the best, but I can't feed my family on praise. They're turning into another MedQuist, and so I'll be leaving.

Someone just asked about Task. There are a few replies below. I was one of them who got interviewed, but as soon as she got on the phone with me she wanted more of a time committment. I can tell you they're lookin for someone to give at least 20-40 hours per week. Good luck.

I have a fun question ask everyone: what (and yes I am saying what not who we don't want names) What was the worst doctor you had to type for? I have typed for doctors from Bolivia, Portugal, and Czech all with English as their second language.. I could do them just fine after I figured out the basics. The worst doctor I ever typed for was from Texas. WOW could that man garble a sentence and fast - oh my gosh he talked fast. English was his first and only language.

I suppose all the Indians will be cussing us out as the work gets offshored back to the shores.
Although, and even though we joke, to a degree that has happened in some industries already. While they still maintain the largest portion of things like the tech industry, a noticeable portion has started to be offshored to places like the Ukraine and parts of Africa as the Indian wages have risen to fill the demand for employees.
You kinow, I get mixed messages with that.
There have been job applications that want to know every single thing, even what were you doing when you were unemployed, and they want the dates for that. I have had people complain when I didn't. However, I would rather put job experience pertaining to the position I am trying to get.

MTs, where there is no discipline displayed in public, there will certainly not be any in private after you're with the company. This should be extremely educational. Why anybody but the absolute newbies would go with this company after these recent posts is beyond me.

I know with Yahoo you can save messages
to your computer. You would have to play around to find it, but I know it's there because I can see all of my past msgs and they are time/date stamped.
I click on the related messages and there
are about a dozen. If you will click on one of those links there are usually several other posts where others have responded to the same questions you are asking. Someone has started a private Transtech board within the last few weeks, but there is tons of stuff about Transtech on MTStars.

if what you mean by looking for more is you want someone to tell you it's great, then here - IT'S SO GREAT, I MAKE MAD MONEY THERE, they let me work whenever I want and there is always tons of work and OT offered on all these easy accounts with normals. I think I'll retire with this company.

I think Larry must have left that one out in the conference I was in yesterday. It is hard to know if issues are purposefully being clouded (so we don't leave right away) or if like you say, they just really don't know. I would like know to the truth about whether CB, DJ, etc did only find out a few days ago. I guess ultimately it really doesn't matter does it.
Yes, and even if they are saying IC and SE are available, you are right, everything is followed with the foreseeable future disclaimer, or I think or I believe. I know with MQ, eventually SE gave way to IC which gave way to total employee no choice, stay or go. .... ....

Next time leave it for someone who will truly appreciate the opportunity to make an extra $100 - you obviously don't. In these economic times you should be grateful for the extra. Also, it wouldn't matter where you worked, either self-employed or employee, everyone has to have taxes taken out. Even if you made minimum wage somewhere the taxes still get taken off the top. That's not something you can get around no matter where you work. I don't understand your logic of working 5 hours overtime actually equal 10 hours, but even at that it's still $10 an hour and a lot of people in this country don't even make that much. You should still consider yourself lucky and stop complaining about it or don't work extra anymore.
WMX - earlier and earlier
It's 5 a.m. and out of work already. Seems to get earlier and earlier.  I wish an MT who's been there for years could tell me this is the norm and it's going to get better soon. I'm very concerned--haven't been able to get 20 hours in, and it's already Friday.

that some were complaining they couldn't get on one file either, so she sent another file which loaded on my media player, but at least I could hear it clear as a bell.

i was with MQ til earlier this year,
and i totally understand. I am using the Bayscribe platform, and yes there are markers you can go-to the same way. Was also able to transfer my MQ Expanders to the Bayscribe platform so i didn't lose years of input. This platform isn't quite as fine as DQS on many points, but it all balances out and i am happier than ever -- i wish you the same!!
earlier this year I tried them...
my computer crashed after weeks of their being in there setting me up. Lost everything, had to reload.
Think about it - virtually everywhere else sets up in hours. Is it worth it?

As per the discussion over the last week, testing with them is most likely a terrible, terrible idea.
They're asking applicants to test with 10 LIVE files, which means all they're really doing is getting their backlog done for free.
Think about it - 30 applicants? 10 live files each? That's 300 files right there - no more backlog and no money spent. Yowza.
LOL-I saw one of those at the eye doctor earlier
this week. The gal taking my information just turn 62 on the 12th. She said she still uses the electric and the docs would probably retire it with her. She said it was a great conversation piece. My MIL has an old carriage return. It has 2 keys that rise above the others. Haven't seen that in forever.
Complaining about VR earlier
Weren't you MDIers complaining about MDI work going to VR about 6 months ago? If it already has gone to VR then what is the problem with that VR work going to Transcend's platform for VR? I'm not a VR advocate by any stretch of the imagination but I was following the thread a few months ago that your work was already going there and I was glad to have dodged that bullet when I turned down the job with MDI-Carlotta had told me the work would NEVER go to VR but then it did. I'm sure Transcend does not want another VR platform when they already have their own. Just an observation.

Stay low and stay very, very quiet. Do not
ask questions, do not talk to the supervisors unless forced to. The answer will always be the same, that you are the only one who has an issue, everything else is perfect. Never mention anyone's name. This place has the mentality of the Borg, everyone has been assimilated, which means if your supervisor does not like you, or does not like your friend, you have no chance. You associate with so and so, so you are exactly like them. That quickly goes through the Borg network and every team lead, ROM, and person in management, including HR, is aware of it. You'll be labeled a trouble maker and your life will not be worth living. Any trial to clear your name will be done in the fashion of the trial of witches. You are in a dunking chair - if you drown you are innocent but it is too late by then.
Remember, a ROM never makes a mistake and never tells something that isn't true. They are perfect (and nastier than a pack of hiennas.)
If you run out of work, it is your fault. You are just lazy. Can't make enough to take care of your family? Too bad, you need to work harder.
And forget getting an answer from management. It doesn't
happen. So, as before, stay low and very quiet.
And do a good job? You can be assured that if you do a good job, do what you are supposed to do, and stay quiet, no one will even recognize your name. They have no idea where you work, what your schedule is, or that you even belong to Transcend.

best of luck to you too. I'm sorry that you are having to go through all this. I think most of us just want to work hard and do a good job and be treated fairly by our employers. Seems so simple, but in my experience it has been hard to find. I'm moving on and hopefully will have found a better employer.

I left that company earlier
They have no communication. I arranged to have a week off as I was moving. This was totally arranged and okayed. Then they took me off the books because they said I did not report to work and had abandoned my job. I explained the situation, and they had to sign me back on with direct deposit, etc. Evidently somebody did not communicate with somebody else in the company. I quit.
I am in a wonderful job now and am glad I went elsewhere.

I worked for them earlier this year (sm)
They are very nice people and paid on time DD. Platform was easy to learn as well. I had to quit because my daughter was very ill, but had that not happened I would still be with them. Good luck.

and I am not in an illegal situatuation, though the poster who answered me tried to suggest that I am, or that I am somehow making the world less wonderful for other MTs.
If you feel used and abused, if your MTSO treats you as an employee when it comes to scheduling and as an IC when it comes to pay and benefits then you are in an illegal situation. I have been in similar situations and have simply chosen to move on. But I would not discourage anyone from slugging it out with their boss over the issue if they want to keep that job.
I simply don't want my personal very seaworthy boat sunk by somebody who has a hole in her own boat. 'kay?
