I am furious about this question of outsourcing. Personally I make it a policy to find and work for organizations that do not outsource, although it is getting more difficult. However, with 17 years of experience, 10 years of this in a hospital, and a CMT, I can afford to be particular. But now I am in a quandry about my CMT. I worked very hard for this, as hard as I did for any of my college degrees. How can I in good conscience renew it with an organization who has demeaned it by obviously lowering their standards? I do not hate people from other countries. I have had many wonderful friends from all over the world. I also have a Dell computer, and I know that everytime I talk to a tech, I can barely translate his English. No matter how much someone knows, if I can't understand them, there is no communication. It is very difficult to find a high school graduate in America today who can create a proper sentence, spell correctly, or use a dictionary. Only a fool would believe that the quality of English work being returned from a country that can barely speak the language is high. I hope some of you that are good at organizing and networking consider the suggestion to start a true American transcription organization. I dropped out when AAMT began to discuss offering off-shore memberships. AAMT has been around a long time, but it is obviously no longer our organization. They have sold out.
