I do not know how other recruiters work, but I personally want to know about the person I'm speaking with. I want to know about their families, how they got into the field, education, etc. I want to know what they like about their job, the company they are currently with (whether they want to give me the name or not, as it may not always be on their resume), what they don't like about the company they are with, what they would like in an ideal position, etc.
While these may have nothing to do for the company that I may be recruiting for currently, it allows me to jot down notes on that particular person's resume and keep them in mind should a company or a position come up that I may think would be right for them!
The information and stories they tell me may also be something worthwhile passing along to the company I'm recruiting for. I never say "So and So company does this for their transcriptionists." I simply state, "one transcriptionist told me that her current company offers this" or "she loves this about her current company but doesn't like this."
These are things that may help my current client build a better relationship with the employees they currently have or bring in ideas, etc. BUT I NEVER MENTION THE NAMES OF THE COMPANIES OR THE PERSON THAT MADE THE STATEMENTS.
Thank you.
