Cobra
By law, if you have elected cobra coverage, and you have not received the paperwork, the insurance company has to carry you until you do receive the paperwork. I just went through this and I was very nervous because I have all kinds of health problems. The insuring agency said that paperwork was usually slow, but even if it was over 30 days, as long as you get your payment in when you do receive the paperwork, they can't drop you. A good place to check also is the National Association of the Self-Employed (NASE). They have all kinds of insurance plans. Best of luck to you!
COBRA
Can anyone out there give me any information on Cobra? There is just my husband and myself. Would it cover my husband?
We used COBRA and my insurance, thank God. sm
I can't imagine either and he is a top-level engineer (over $130k) but we have heard that it is becoming the norm to wait 90-180 days. They did give him a stipend though to help with COBRA.
Unemployment/COBRA
They said we should apply for unemployment asap but how can we do that if we are still working for them until 7/7?
Also, how much is unemployment usually? I've never been on it. I've heard it is about 66% of your usual pay? Is this correct?
Also... can you apply for Medicaid with unemployment? The COBRA rate is at least $540 for myself and my daughter. :(
COBRA - MEDICAID
Why do you need to apply for Medicaid along with Cobra? Did I understand this to be what you said?
Insurance COBRA
Usually, you're given the chance to maintain insurance premiums on your own so that you won't have a gap in coverage. I've been issued a certificate of continuing coverage twice when I had to leave a job so that I would qualify for ongoing insurance of some kind. Check into COBRA rules on this with your present company. Congrats on new job.
Anyone having a problem getting Cobra through
nm
Unfortunately, no. The last job I had the COBRA was too expensive, so I did
not get it, and had about a 4-month lapse.
Does anybody know the rates for COBRA?
I am about to lose my health insurance since I cannot make the full time line requirements. Does anybody have a guess as to how much I would have to pay for COBRA for one person? Thanks in advance for any help!
Cobra Rates
My paperwork states the coverage is available to you At the current group rates. Meaning, the total amount being paid both by yourself and your employer per month.
Need Cobra info
By law Spheris has to provide you with the information for Cobra. It sometimes takes several weeks to hear, if you think it has been to long....suck it up and call them...you are only hurting yourself by not getting the information for it. If it makes you feel better mention to the person you are talking to that you have a great new job and won't be needing the Cobra for that long. :-)
Cobra rates for TT. Anyone know? sm
Am leaving TT to take an in home customer service job for a local business. Definitely going to be worth it as it pays great money for me, PTO, vacation and full benefits. Would like to know if anyone has left TT and taken the Cobra? Looking to know the cost for just employee.
COBRA only available for 18 months...you MUST do forms...sm
don't get the paperwork in and they have no reason to carry you. With COBRA, all you do is stay on a group insurance plan and pay the full price. Not the best choice for price conscious medical insurance UNLESS you have ANY medical conditions. If you are completely healthy, (no hypertension, diabetes, basically any diagnosis, even neck pain) you can get individual. Think about a high deductible ($5000 yr) if you don't go to the doctor or maybe only go once a year. Then also check out a Health Savings Account (plenty of info on web and at government web sites). But COBRA is not an insurance. It is only allowing you to get in on a group plan at the group price but you pay it all, including what your employer was paying for you.
That is so sweet of you to say. Thank you!
Amphion rocks. I will always say that:)
Sweet - Thanks !!!! NM

That is so sweet - thank you! sm
I still like to have Christmas off with my two, who are 11 and 8 and that is so kind and thoughtful of you to think of it the way that you do!! I hope you have wonderful holidays yourself!
That's so sweet!
In the meantime, this month a relative gave me some 'fall-back' money to put in my anemic, terminally-ill little bank account.
In the meantime, I'm still looking for something that pays a little more realistically than MT. This business is a total disgrace, isn't it?
Mine ended at the end of the month, then COBRA took over. nm
Are employers required to offer Cobra?
nm
About 1-1/2 years ago, I paid almost $600/month for COBRA. sm
That was for medical, dental, vision, one person. Hope this helps. It is tremendously expensive, but it does get you by until you get something else.
Good luck!
short and sweet is the way to go (sm)
I would not offer a lot of details. People leave jobs all the time, they are used to it. Be professional and polite. Keep it simple is my advice.
How sweet for you to be so enamoured with me! :)
.
such a sweet bust!

Sweet recruiter
... Way to go!!! You have my vote!! Who do you work for?
Bet your sweet a** the AC won't get it back in TAT
.
What a sweet post :-)
Thank you for your kind words, Irish. May you and your loved ones have a blessed and healthy 2009! :-)
short and sweet
They stink. They send a ton to offshore. They rip off the MT. They buy up small companies and then change all the rules eventually to be uniform with Transcend policies. Just my opinion.
.09/.057 would be sweet, wouldn't it? i'd take that...
but not .04 for VR
I just left. Need Cobra info. Lost the mail and wonder...
I am flailing financially but have a wonderful new job where I am treated like a human being and compensated for my dedication.
I cannot tell you so you'd understand how much more happy I am now. But, I have no insurance and have a preexisting so I lost my mail and can't gather the strength to call and talk with the staff who suddenly sound so distant. Blah
meant sweet not sweek
nm
Yes, isn't that sweet? I feel all cozy now.....nm
xx
Don't fall for the sweet talk.
The recruiter is the sweetest person in the world when trying to sucker you in, but will bite you in the back like a viper after a while. The honeymoon phase was wonderful, but then they started changing all the terms that I had agreed to one by one, including a cut in pay. She got really mean and nasty towards then end and I just quit. I didn't need to be treated like that.
a rose by any other name would smell as sweet
And an MT is now a *clerk,* according to the posting on the job board. I'd like to apply for Head Cluck when it becomes available. Then you've got your Lead Cluck, and your Editor Cluck, QA Cluck, Cluck Manager, VP of Cluckdom, Supercluck, CEC and CFC (Chief Executive Cluck, and Chief Financial Cluck) and we all work for Clucks-R-Us.
Is breaking the law okay if it is a sweet deal? (nm)
Without Naming Company, Does anyone know cost of COBRA for out-of-state employees?
x
I found a sweet job close to my home. sm
I am trying to work outside of my home. I enjoyed my first day and I have my fingers crossed that it will work out. It is not transcription though. It is copy typing and I hope I can become good at it and fast. I hate creeping along at a snail's pace. I'm just used to flying on the keyboard. Good luck everyone.
She's a sweet lady. She has a lot of experience and a lot of stories that go with it.
I like her a lot, but I can kind of see where you are coming from, as whenever I've spoken with her I could pretty much write off the next 60-90 minutes. It was a great time to clean out email, though! (And if you are reading this, you-know-who, it's not a criticism but rather an acknowledgement that you have a LOT of stories to tell!)
Sweet...sounds like when I was in paramedic school
Blood drawing and vitals. I did all that in paramedic school. My MT training a few years ago was much more boring LOL.
Sweet Pete Bayou MT. Part of your responsibility as an MT
is to look up unfamiliar terminology, doctor's names, etc. and MAKE A NOTE OF IT, so you don't have to look it up again. All I can say is good luck with your career as an MT.
I once served frozen yogurt to Sandy Koufax. He was very sweet.
..
TT talks sweet, but I have never desired even a store clerk to call me sweetie . . . those niceties
have never impressed me unless they come from my husband/lover.
