Any info on Psych Trans
Was wondering if anyone works for or has worked for Psych Trans if they could give me any info on them, good or bad. TIA.
JMO - I absolutely despise psych work! Give me Op Notes anytime - NOT psych. nm

Do you want to be a transcriptionist or
or do you want to be a voice recognition editor? Because they are moving to get as many accounts on VR as they can and when they do they'll pay you about half of whatever line rate they promise you to do the VR. Make sure you ask because nobody ever told me this was the plan when they hired me.
Are you a transcriptionist or do you
Just curious. I QA for them and have no work either.
If you are already a transcriptionist
I'm not sure I understand your post. If you are already a transcriptionist, then why don't you just start applying to online companies on the job seeker's board. If you work full-time then you should make at least 25,000.00 per year as long as you are dedicated and can work independently. Why not ask the psych doctor if you can do his/her work from home as a side job. If I were you, I'd skip the training and start applying now for an online job. What have you got to lose?
Just saw an ad for a transcriptionist to (sm)
to go in and type for the doctor as he was in the room with the patient, doing the standardized, pretext formats.
A transcriptionist should at the very least
know the difference between your and you're.
EMR Transcriptionist
Those are some of the duties that I'll be responsible for starting next month when we turn everything over to EMR.
There, no there is a smart transcriptionist
Keep running away from SS.
just stay as transcriptionist
don't go into editing as the pay structure for that is a rip off mostly
Unionized Transcriptionist?
Is this just so overwhelming to think about. Plummers, carpenters, auto workers, healthcare workers, nurses, teachers, etc. have managed to unionize and demand fair pay and treatment. Am I the only person who has ever had this thought? Why do so many MTs resign themselves to less than fair wages and benefits for a skill that is in such high demand? Tell me what you think. Just curious.
Transcriptionist friends
To NM: The server wouldn't let me email you. I would love to have a fellow transcription friend!
Any KS transcriptionist know about holiday pay.
I have to work Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years
EMR Medical Transcriptionist?
Ok, just as we thought our jobs were being replaced with EMR, VR, offshore, etc, I found this on Craigs list with the headline Medical Transcriptionist -
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1. Transcribe medical dictation into CareTracker Electronic Medical Record Template. 2. Data entry of patient medication & allergy history into EMR. 3. Review of patient history from chart and enter into EMR. 4. Capture charges from dictation and enter into CareTracker. 5. Work with EMR implementation team with suggestions or changes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Compile electronic health record from paper charts. 2. Transcribe medical dictation into electronic health record template. 3. Manual entry of patient’s medication and allergies from the paper chart into the electronic health record. 4. Get physician approval of medications entered. 5. Follow up with doctor with incomplete dictation. 6. Cross training of new staff assigned. 7. Performing other duties as assigned.
This certainly doesn't sound like EMR is all it is cracked up to be if this is what it takes to get the record on the chart.
I was under the impression that the transcriptionist, as well
as the MTSO were not held liable, that it was whoever signed the final product (in theory, they proof it before they sign it). It is the physician's dictation, how can the MTSO or MT be held responsible if they transcribe incorrectly dictated test results, physical exam findings or anything else re: the patient?
DO NOT BELIEVE "BEWARE" - she obviously was a disgruntled transcriptionist - sm
I have been transcribing for four years for them. Have a large account, and only a couple of times in four years have I had a very slow period (maybe lasting a week or so) where the work was low - but as anyone would know, hospital admissions usually go down in the summertime, docs go on vacations, etc.
They do have a couple of accounts that the HOSPITAL is absolutely picky about, i.e. they want the commas and the periods and the hyphens where they belong and they want the report spelled CORRECTLY. But a hospital has EVERY RIGHT to expect that from a transcription vendor. Maybe "beware" was on one of these accounts and just doesn't know how to transcribe!!
Every single transcriptionist should QUIT.
Right now -- before they have the chance to use your talent and blood and sweat to perfect the VR that they will then send offshore. You can bet they will quit YOU once their foot is firmly in India.
I hope every single transcriptionist
who is laid off files FOR UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION. If there was ever a time UC is warranted, it is for situations like this. I believe the employer is responsible for paying this in most, if not all, states. I also believe your benefit is based on your income over a certain number of quarters, so the more you earn, the higher your benefit.
Publicizing what this so-called *employer* is doing might help bring the matter to the public's attention, especially when politicians brag about how wonderful the American economy is.
It is Certified Medical Transcriptionist sm
as described by AAMT (American Association for Medical Transcription). You receive this by taking a test with AAMT. In the late 70s or early 80s when AAMT first came about, if you had 2-3 years experience (I can't remember which) you could become a CMT by grandfathering in and not taking a test. I knew folks who grandfathered in who had only done radiology and could not do acute care at all. I didn't think that was fair at all. I am not sure how they do it now, but I think they may have a certification for different types of transcription i.e., radiology versus acute care. I remember I was 6 months short of the experience to grandfather in and I paid to take the test.
You must have so many continuing education credits in a prescribed period of time to keep your certification or you will have to take the test over. There are lots of ways that you can get CECs, sometimes by reading certain articles that qualify etc.
I kept mine for about 12 years but they kept going up on the price so much every year I finally just let it go. There are some places that pay a little more for CMT status, but not many. It really and truly is not worth the money you pay out. I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but don't waste your money.
Certified Medical Transcriptionist.

Transcriptionist in a chiropractor's office
Does anyone know what a transcriptionist's salary range would be in a chiropractor's office?
FT Medical Records Transcriptionist
Who does she work for?
Not fishy. Just a transcriptionist who has worked for
2 companies which did not count correctly and after having done a minute to line comparison finding that the present job is not counting correctly either. Perhaps the wording is awkward. Should have asked who counts lines with a correct line to minute ratio. And you know what that means if you have been in the business long enough.
Traveling medical transcriptionist
What companies hire for traveling medical transciptionist? I am interested in a position like this. If any information, please advise.

Thanks.
I work with a transcriptionist at our hospital who works for
them part time and she said they are just awful, but she needs the money so bad and no other company returned her call. She said she has a hard time with the voices, ESL and difficulty hearing the account.

Anyone ever worked for LabCorp as a pathology transcriptionist, etc.
Would be interested to know about their benefits. I have been offered a position as a Lead Support Transcriptionist and pay range is from 16 to 22 dollars per hour and they mention a whole lot of benefits on the website. I know, I can ask them in a couple days, but am so anxious, just thought I would though the question out to see if anyone would respond.
By the way, LabCorp still has in-house transcription, so if your'e looking for work at a company try them. If you have done acute care, you can do pathology. I am an acute care transcriptionist myself. They also have laboratory assistant jobs if your'e just tired of transcription as a whole. I believe they start at about 13 an hour.

What are some easy companies for a remote transcriptionist to start with?
I have been a Transcriptionist for 5 years. Are there any easy companies out there to start with as a remote MT. I have tried to work with one company at home but the training process was very complicated and required A LOT of computer knowledge. I need to know some good companies to check out and some of the ones to stay away from.
Is $15.00 an hour good pay for pathology transcriptionist at a LabCorp
with bennies, working in-house?
look, they probably overhired, they don't care if 100 transcriptionist quit, just hire more.
nm
yes relocation fees. And it is not 10-15/hour ... unless you're a slow transcriptionist
We're just trying to find out REALISTICALLY and honestly if there are transcriptionists that have moved or would move to an area for a job and new life.
Is $15.00 per hour with excellent benefits good pay for a pathology transcriptionist
There is an ad in my local newspaper for this position, and I am considering applying. It doesn't mention anything about incentive, so I doubt that there is any, but the way the transcription industry is going, I think this may be my best shot for the next 15 years. As I turned 50 yesterday and looking to retire at 65. They have pension plan and 401K with match, long and short term disability.
My experience has been that VR helps the slow transcriptionist, hinders the fast. sm
I could transcribe the report myself a LOT faster than sitting there listening and fixing the report. That's just my experience, though. Although I acknowledge that VR is easier on my poor old hands, it hurts my budget more than my hands hurt. I will avoid it as long as I can, although it seems like The Borg and perhaps soon we will all be assimilated.
For now, I am happy to be at a company where I am appreciated and can type the reports myself and not have to sort through the cra* a machine puts out. Keystrokes is great!
I agree. As medical insurance biller/coder/transcriptionist
I agree with the other poster. You're better off going with a group plan than on your own. Largely, because you pay the same premiums across the board as everyone else on your plan. When your on your own individual plan, I was scared to use my or have a new diagnosis because come renewal time, your premiums are adapt to go up staggering and there is nothing to can do about it, other than drop them and then you are in a worst situation. Yes, group insurance premiums usually go up every year but it's nothing like what will happen to if your on your own. Also, you do get a contracted adjustment based on your insurance's contracted allowable rate. Say your visit is $100 and the contracted rate/allowable through the insurance is $75, that means the doctor has to write off that $25 according to their contract.
You mean, but not PSYCH?
LOL
psych
How can I find them? Could not find anything on them....is that an MT company or the name of a hospital? Thanks for any help.......
Psych
Thank you Been There, Done That. I appreciate your honesty and courage to speak out.
Psych
Thank you Old CMT. Very sound advice.

Thank you NM. This board is wonderful for helping us new MTs. I did not know that it was illegal not to pay for 45 days. I asked because I had never heard about going that long before receiving pay before. I received an email from another past employee. She said this woman is very nice over the phone but was very mean and critical to her when she was an employee. She claims she was fired for being late once during an emergency. I think I have decided I will not look further into this employer. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck .... Thank you so much for your time.
Psych
Thank you, thank you NM. This woman made me feel like such a fool for questioning 45 days before a first payment. I am new and was so unsure. She kept telling me I am sooooooo easy to work for.You have no reason to question me. You are just nervous because you are new. She seemed so nice, but also kind of like a snake oil salesman. Ha! Ha! She kept yakking about the so easy to work for so much that it made me uneasy. That is why I came here to search. I am grateful for job and experience, but I want to work for someone that is honest from the get go. Thank you so much for educating me.
I did psych and almost
did tons and tons of it, strictly psych hospital - adults and children - for quite awhile. Figured I had to get away from it when I found myself thinking Well, maybe he really does get signals from outerspace through his neighbor's television but the deciding factor was when I thought What is really so terrible about saving your feces in your dresser drawer THAT SETTLED IT FOR ME!!!
The positive side was that it was EXCELLENT money, EASY dictators, really a gravy account.
Just try to remember that feces belongs in the toilet, NOT in the dresser, and you will do fine
psych
Is it for KCS? If so, email me privately.
Psych pay -- too low
I pay my IC's 8 to 9 cpl, I set up standards for each type of consult with tests in the standards, so lot of times they have 2 to 4 pages already done when they begin and just have to plug in some test results and a few words here and there. I make 3 - 4 cpl off of them for the pick up of tapes, proof the reports, send back to the doctors, bill them. They also get 2-3 days to get the reports done. Each report is between 400 to 600 lines for them. Takes about 60 to 90 minutes to get each one done. To me, 0.6 is way too low. But that is me. I cannot make 50% off of my IC's and look at myself in the mirror. Patti

Try Vitallines (info@vitallines.net). I worked for them a couple of months but had to give it up as I couldn't work for 2 companies as my work picked up with my first company. The owners are very nice, fair, and the pay is average; but my own opinion, I would take a good employer, steady work, easy dictators, and very nice people over a high CPL. They stay in close contact with you if need help or have questions, but don't breathe down your neck, and leave you alone to do your work. They have an onsite IM setup in case you have questions and can ask other employees who are also very helpful. Everyone is so nice and helpful. No ESLs. I typed for a Behavioral Health/Mental Health account out of Georgia dealing with adolescent and adults. Their contact number is 678-799-4665. The owners' name are Meg and Charles Jordan.
I hope this helps.
There are a lot of MTs out there who like psych accounts.
They're super easy to type with tons of macros and not much technical medical language. It's cake money. People just aren't willing to give that up, or it's going to VR.
psych accounts
I know that Medware just got a new account that has a large psych facility.
