when I started out they paid your phone bill. We realized then that we were saving the companies overhead -- heating, electric -- and we were reimbursed accordingly. Now my sisters are happy to provide their own equipment, purchse their own checkers, ask for no assistance in overhead - -AND work for the same rate or less than they had 10 years ago and still think they are lucky to sit home in their panties. Whoo ha. Some people you can't budge off her big hindquarters for nothing.

You have hit the nail right on the head! The AAMT was nothing more than a self-serving organization that truly did nothing for the ordinary working MT (except look down on us). I do not believe the AAMT can force me (or anyone else) into doing anything. They are, no matter what initials they are currently embracing these days, just too full of themselves. I think most companies have their number. I am not a member for many reasons, the chief one being why would I give money to such an organization. I have had some mighty fine MT jobs, have always been hired for jobs I wanted, and have never been told I needed the CMT. Again, I think you are right on in your observations and have put the facts down succinctly and cogently. My hat is off to you!
