Secure position
Honey, NOBODY in this day and age is in a secure position. You could very well be next----.
I doubt it. I'm in a very secure position.

10 cpl just "aint gonna happen" nm

sorry, Norma... It's not 1970. Ain't gonna happen.
xx
I plan on it as soon as I secure another position. The sooner the better. (no message).
Nope! If you would happen to go to work there (sm)
don't let them put you on a VA account, the account coordinator is vicious! Their QA manager and staff are also unqualified. I have given notice and will be out of there soon. Honestly, you can do better. Keep looking!
Nope. No 20hr position. Please don't give wrong info.

Satellite is secure. Wireless DSL is less secure than satellite but
yet companies accept that. Satellite can be very secure depending on how you have everything set up.
nope, not me, NOPE Worked to hard and long to sm
know what I know, my expertise is worth more and constant updating . Keep looking on the job boards. Email and ask if VR, pay for space and lowest to highest line rate for the POSITION (generic question) not I have 20 years exp. etc

Anyone know anyting about MxSecure? I saw a job post somewhere for them. I have not heard that name before.
MX Secure
What is their pay schedule?
I would hardly call my job secure. sm
My company offshores more and more work every year and continues to lie about doing so. Our line rates have continually decreased, our production incentives have disappeared. Our site-specific demands are getting infintely more precise, no 2 sites alike, and we are expected to keep all of them straight and do MORE and more sites as time goes on, as our quality testing gets harder, and the ramifications for errors get steeper. They are doing their darndest to push us out and make us miserable in the process.
NOTHING about this job is secure. The benefits that are left have gotten significantly LESS beneficial while continuing to cost me MORE.
I AM making an ACTIVE effort to change careers but that takes time.
Angry? Sure I am. I've given nothing but quality work for a decade and receive zero recognition for my loyalty and committment.
I DO have scars from this industry. I have done everything right in this industry and I'm worse off than I was 5 years ago. So yeah, a $20 gift card to Target WOULD mean a LOT to me as an employee at Christmas.
Jobs using FTP or secure website?
Any jobs still use FTP or just a secure website to download from?
few and far between, I don't think they consider satellite a secure route
for information.
At least you have a SECURE job with a GOOD company sm
that's not sending our work to India.
Escription doesn't seem secure
You can go into different hospital systems using the same install if you have the correct user name and password. That doesn't seem very secure to me. Anybody can hack into it.
MT has gone from being considered a secure job that provided a comfortable (sm)
middle-class living, to what it is now - sweatshop labor -with near 3rd-world conditions when it comes to how little it pays, loss of benefites, and how much one must work in order to earn half of what they made 15 years ago. Why am I still in it? Because I made the mistake of putting all my eggs in the MT basket years ago, when I was still young enough to change careers. But back then I didn't need or want to change careers. Now I'm too old to go back to school long enough to learn anything I could do that would pay decently (who wants a 70-year-old newbie at ANYthing?), and yet still a good 15 years away from retirement. So, although I keep looking around for something else, there is very little I could do at home on my own computer. I'm so burnt-out on offices & management that I doubt I could ever go back to an office ever again. The thought turns my stomach. I'm just hoping that I'll have enough in Soc. Security benefits when I'm finally eligible that I'll be able to get by on that AND a full-time (i.e., 60+ hours a week!) MT job.
Speed may not be the issue; wireless needs to be secure.

I feel totally secure with MQ...no problems NM

The MTSO I work for does too. It actually makes me feel more secure sm
in knowing that they must be doing something right to live in a huge new house, drive Jaguars and Hummers and go on nice vacations. They've been around a while and it is nice to know that things are going well. I think that if my MTSO was broke all the time, it would be a sign that he/she did not have a good business sense and I would be worried that the company would be broke all the time too.
I also know that I am not the only one who feels this way. The owners do not flaunt it or rub our noses in it; instead, they have made improvements in the company at the same rate.
Christmas bonus? Not sure if we will get one. Do I care? Not really. I am greatful to be working steadily with a good wage and a good future.
Yeah, my old company told all of us our jobs were secure
They told us to go about our business and work as usual, that a merger or acquisition may be taking place, and we need not worry. In that first call, I asked the supervisor about sending it to India and got a very defensive answer. I should have learned!!! Six months later, 150 of us...bam!!! Laid off...no more US MT force for that company...
The DQS is an IC position and the Dictaphone EXtext is an employee position....
both part time...both making 9.5 cents per line...which is better IC or employee?
Thanks :)
Secure Copy Protocol - encrypted file transfer method. nm

I'm hoping too as I accepted position a position also nm

thanks, I'm gonna try that! sm
Hope it doesn't ruin my day!!!
what cha gonna do if we don't???
nm
What cha gonna do?
Are you serious?
How old are you. I mean I am only 21 but you sound like youre 13 or something.
That's not gonna go over too well, I think.
She won't see it as helpful. She's upset. It can be quite catty on here but some are just too sensitive.
I don't think I am gonna take it....
I think that is too low. I was not aware what VR payed. I have never done it and have no friends who do so I thought that was too low but needed to hear from someone who knows.
gotten, ain't, gonna--so what?
All that, and you couldn't even give OP the answer he/she was looking for. SHEESH!
OF COURSE, there are gonna be ones who act
has not been good. I should say my working experience has not been good as that is the only experience I have had. But it is what it is and that is all I can base my opinion on. However, I share my opinion with MANY MTSO and those in management, the ones that deal with these buisness people on a daily basis.
Sorry but if they are gonna slam on someone, they should at least
make sure it sounds right. It was funny though. It had me on the floor and not completely in an insulting way..JUST FUNNY.
It's gonna get worse SM
When someone posted below who cares about construction workers that pretty well summed up the problem in general. Everything is about 'me.' Our America is on its way to becoming a Third World Country. Watch the news sometime.
Yup, and it's gonna come back and
nm
wow, and i was gonna apply with them

Not even gonna argue, as I can tell 100% from
your dialect that you are Indian. So, you don't understand our US point of view. I do not want to work for an Indian owner, a Japanese owner, or an owner from Mars who has, in their own written and published mission statement, to eliminate the US MTs, as they are inferior to Indian MTs. Not my words, CBay's words, and I don't care if they came from Santa Claus, or Mr. Hoffmann, or Tony Soprano. I ain't gonna work for someone who wants to eliminate me and my coworkers. Buh Bye.
who ya gonna call?
Isn't it against the law for payroll checks to have a delay of over 10 days? Does anyone know who you contact for help? It's mind-boggling that you are expected to provide high-quality, reliable work and get it done...STAT...and then wait and wait for compensation.
I'm probably gonna get reamed for asking but
How precisely does one lose money doing ASR? Is the work not consistent enough to get used to the dictators?
Please, do tell. I'm about to start VR work at Transcend (on BeyondText) and I'm just wondering what I'm in for.
You're probably gonna get more than me...:(
I've been at Oracle long enough now to know that the recruiter is a lying sack of excrement! I left my previous job because of low/no work and accepted a job at Oracle (OTI). The recruiter said over and over how busy this account was and how they're needing somebody bad, etc etc. I've been out of work for 3 days now. In fact, this is not at all unusual because ever since I started I run out of work 4 days out of 5 and that's with 3 accounts. I feel like such a failure for even trying to do this job anymore. I just don't know what it is with these companies?
sure gonna give
it one heck of a shot! I think they want us to think the physicians don't have any say so either but heck if the physician's refuse to dictate there then they will see that they do have a say!
Yep, I think MDIers are gonna get it
This whole thing is right out of the MQ playbook. Get ready to get hit!
MT'S are not gonna like this post
Even though I am on your side, fighting the same things as you, I have a slightly different view.
I don't paint all MTSOs with the same brush, first of all. They are not all fire-breathing mega corporation monsters reaping in huge profits at the expense of their work force. Many are just barely making a profit themselves.
Besides, unlimited profit is what capitalism is all about. Don't expect the mega corporations to limit themselves too much - they are mandated to make as much profit as they can for shareholders. And they shoulder all kinds of legal burdens with the clients they contract with that MTs don't have to be concerned about. They DO have real expenses.
Another point is this: Sometimes we just have to wait up and smell the coffee. The industry IS changing - lots of speculation about *where* it will end up, but this much is clear: They have been training a new work force to do this work (not just offshoring) for a very long time.
It's the old supply and demand construct: When MTs were scarce, our position and talent was more appreciated in actions and in pay. Now the industry has an abundance of good to great workers so employers have more choice and that competition is part of what's driving down wages and opportunities.
So I have read the writing on the wall - diversify *now* while there is still work at current wages because there is a real likelihood with technology, offshoring, and workforce that wages (overall) will continue to be stagnant or even go lower.
But screaming at the MTSOs on the board may make one feel better, but it won't change reality one iota.
Now I have go punch my punching bag and take some prozac.

Who are they gonna give all the bad dictation to? (sm)
I really should start showing on my resume I've only worked for 3 years. Maybe I'd get the good accounts for once.
So what did I do before that? Oh, I guess I didn't need a job. Maybe they'd stop slinging me all the sh**.
I was gonna reply because I work for them...
but I don't know if policies and coverage rates vary from state to state. Here in Maine, I think the state has something in place that limits how many insurance companies can exist...messed up but true. Maybe that's what the person meant by going to the voting booth? I honestly have no idea.
I have to buy the family plan, even though it's just my husband and I, and man, even though the company chips in a bit it is very pricey...if it goes up again the next cycle, I'm probably gonna have to drop, as it already costs over 1/3 of what I make, but I try not to think about it because it makes me poop blood. Again though, I deeply believe this is due to the corruption of the State of Maine, and not DeVenture.
Someone gonna speak up at the meetin at OSi?
I think I'm gonna go ahead a bite...
I turned in my Keystrokes paperwork today for a RAD account starting Monday. It looks like most of the problems are with acute care accounts with more positives on the RAD accounts. I'm not worried about OT/paid holidays because I have an actual IC job with plenty of work if/when I want it. I'm just hoping that being this RAD account is new, there will be enough work to keep me qualified for medical. I see others who just posted recently are new hires also--good luck to all of us!
TY. I'm gonna give it a shot...
Just turned in my resume. Thanks again for the info!
I'm gonna give it a try..can't hurt!
On the front page of the Long Beach Press Telegram in Long Beach, Calif. today is the start of a series that is going to run every Sunday for the rest of the year. They are going to share the experiences, some challengiing, some encouraging, of our friends and neighbors this is regards to the slowing economy, unemployment, etc. Also today was a letter to the Editor that basically said If you want to fix the economy in the U.S. then quit outsourcing all the jobs overseas. Jobs here = consumer confidence and spending.
I am going to give it a shot and see if I can get a story about the MT field and how what is happening in MT is NOT related to EMR. The EMR President Obama wants is a MR that is accessible via a computer (EMR) (and HIPPA accountability for privacy) but no where have I seen any reference that the reports that are included in that MR are supposed to be coming from a Third World Country with no HIPPA accountability. The focus behind the EMR is having access to your medical records if you have a medical incident away from access to that infamous paper chart in your doctor's office or prior paper hopsital records that can not be rapidly accessed. I am not against the concept of EMR but I am against the concept of trying to get by with lumping it in with other functions end up eliminating jobs in the U.S. They are our medical records and all components of them should remain in our country. If I am able to pull it off and get a Sunday dedicated to MT and EMR, I will post the link to the article here. Anyone who wants to assist in writing an article give me a shout-out.
Whatcha gonna do when all your MTs quit, TT??
Hogwash!
I'm with you and hoping this is not gonna be the next trend...
I'm a confirmed second shifter for many years and for many reasons and recently started at a different company, doing Sun-Thurs evenings. Long story short, have been there 2 months and frequently run out of work on my Sunday night, and I'm infuriated (and maybe naive, have rarely in 30-odd years run out of work and especially not the first day of my week). Of course that means I have to make the work up, so I do that on my Friday off, though I take care to do it after 3:30. Needless to say, I deeply resent working on my day off. Like you, I say this is sacred and my wrists need it, and I'm a good employee. I'm biding my time to see how this all pans out; I may see if I can negotiate something different if possible. I was one of five new people hired on this account, (hopefully not an overhire, things are fine other than this). Anyway, NO, it just ain't right to in effect force us to compete for jobs in this way.
Gonna miss your posts GP sm
I have to agree with you, there are way too many hateful people on this board. I've never seen a bigger bunch of spiteful souls in my life. Sorry to see you go.
