MQ has voice recognition, and needs QA people right now too -- two possible alternatives to straight transcription. I never knew of a 'pregnancy-induced' carpal tunnel -- interesting. After so many years of working, i'm starting to have trouble with my hands/arms, so just invested in a Kinesis contoured Classic keyboard. They are really different -- keys at different heights, some in different places, to put less stress on weaker little finger and instead transfer that to the stronger, ie, thumbs...it may be another option to check out for you.
