than you are taking this all way too serious. The CEO (can't use names here anymore) used to come here but does not anymore except here and there to keep up on some industry changes(her words). She does not take this stuff serious and neither should you.

What you shoud be concerned about is the fact that you felt it necessary and OK to run to the CEO of a company on a weekend for insignificant things. If she is laughing, it is probably at you. If she is upset, it is probably because it has gotten out of hand, but I bet she has bigger things to deal with than a public board with anonymous posts. Gheesh. Both sides are out of hand.

Here's your recourse:
Write a demand letter to the company for immediate payment. Copy that to the Fraud Unit of the Attorney General's office of both the state in which the company is located and the state in which you live. Check in your own state to find out what the limit is for a small claims action and then file it. Then notify the MTSO that you have filed in small claims court and that they will have to appear. Then file complaints with the BBB in both your city and theirs. That ought to build a few fires.
Recourse as an IC...sm
Review by the IRS would be a first step in recourse against this practice of using ICs and demanding a schedule. Do you have a SIGNED CONTRACT as a 1099 contractor? If so, is this issue addressed? Are you TRULY 100% an IC? Communicating expectations clearly with those making the threats of being canned may clear up any misunderstanding of your work status; if they demand you follow their schedule, then perhaps it's time they transitioned you into being an employee as stated under IRS laws.

actually companies and MTSO have little OTHER recourse
when they feel they are being misrepresented, slandered or lied about -- regardless of by whom or to what purpose -- a competitor could just as easily, maliciously post lies ...

Denying that you are a cheat, a liar, that you deliberately violate the promises you make to your employees is rarely heard -- it's not a credible or juicy as allegations of wrong doing ... how is a company supposed to undo the damage done except through a court ruling that (if successful) -- yes -- the allegations were false. I wish there were another way. FWIW, the only other case like this I recall was over 10 years ago and the MTSO won ... I don't recall what if any damages were awarded.
You can try requesting an internet-based account
If they have any openings on any internet-based accounts, they may be able to put you on one of those. My primary account is internet-based, and I requested that my secondary account be internet-based as well, which was no problem at all.
Notice is a courtesy, not a rule and they don't give you notice when they fire you
Giving a 2-week notice is common courtesy, and in most all my jobs, I have given them that courtesy; however, a company never gives someone notice when they are firing them. In my opinion, if a company does not treat their employees right, they do not deserve to get any notice at all.

As a matter of fact, I just left a company without notice. I felt horrible about doing it to my team but not to the company. While they never messed up on my pay, I was under constant stress. They treated several other people horribly and also changed all the terms of my employment contract within months of hiring me, which was going to cost me $800 a paycheck. I am the major breadwinner for a family of five and couldn't hang around a second longer losing that kind of money.

The only reason you would not want to quit without notice is if you want to use them as a reference and/or want the chance to go back to them in the future. I was advised by a recruiter that you should never put anything on your resume that is less than a year, so you really don't want to use them as a reference anyway, and you certainly don't want to go back to them.

Messing with someone's money is a big NO-NO, especially when they are costing you $400 for a second time. Heck no, I wouldn't give these people notice. There are some great companies out there hiring right now.

Feel free to contact me by email if you would like some more detailed information about the companies I narrowed my search down to. I was very sceptical about trusting another company with the bad luck I've had (just as you have) in the last few years, but I think I finally found somewhere I can be happy at for a long, long time (of course only time will tell, but I'm feeling very optimistic).

with our job paying us for NO holidays, use PTO earned for sick, holiday pay, and everything else that may come at us in life!  You better believe those inhouse clerks, etc./sups, leads, execs and on and on get their GIFT and a hefty one at that.  Why are we at-home supposed to be satisfied with nothing, but a low-paying job, low work most of the time, requests from company to flex and flex for THEM, but no flexing when the MT needs off.


Yes, I am thankful for a job, and that is exactly what it is . . . . a job (almost).  That is if you consider NO paid HOLIDAYS like all other types of companies give.  Yes, these are hard times, but these hard times are hitting the MT harder and harder each and every year!  It does not affect the office support staff, etc., etc., etc.  They are paid for holidays and whether there is work for the MT or not.  We are piecemeal workers only (similar to sweat shop workers).  Yes, I am thankful that I have a paycheck coming home, BUT I have to WORK VERY HARD for every penny that comes home to me in the form of a paycheck -- without any paid breaks or holidays.  The office staff are the lucky ones -- everything paid for them!

when you worked for a hospital, taking into account the benefit package you had with the hospital?  If so, any explanation as to how you are doing better or worse would be much appreciated. 
There is no written test. Must have been a different company. I took their ortho test sm
and it was easy. You had to know your terminology but it was easy to understand AND I used my foot pedal.

I am off today and appalled at reading the posts on here.

Are you always this bitter? Do you have a family and friends who are safe and healthy? Count your blessings instead of being so angry and you might see that this is not a bad field to be in. It has kept food on my table for 27 years and will continue to do so. Is it harder now? You bet, but it is not impossible to make a good living of $50,000. You just have to work hard, give it your all and appreciate the good companies that are out there.

If I were an MTSO, I would find out who all these people posting such bitter posts are and find replacements for them a.s.a.p. Negativity spreads like poison, and with the world in the state it is, we should bond together not make it worse.

money, you have to be the MTSO.  If you apply with nationals and the people who have the accounts, you are not going to make the big money, they are, otherwise, why would they need you.  It is very unfortunate, but it is true.

That's because they have a gag order on employees
when you hire on, you have to agree not to talk about them on the internet and give them permission to read your mail if they want to see what you write. Also, you agree not to participate in any kind of union activity. This all happened after they hired some consultants to restructure their business practices...and one of the owners even canned his MIL. Fun at family get togethers, huh?

You might get some private emails, but you won't see anything posted in public by current employees.

Ummm...NO! In 12 years of doing this profession (and I choose to so someone else is not raising my kids - and don't you dare call that a benefit either because it is harder) I have NEVER gotten a raise.

I should be compensated for the 12 years of knowledge that I have, not told be work faster and harder. Every other profession does that - REWARDS THEIR WORKERS FOR THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE.

It is not a matter of being selfish and want, want, want. It is a matter of what is right and wrong.

8 cpl isn't a 'tall order' even for a newbie. It's not

US MT's are paid so little per line that in order to
reports as possible, and the faster you go, the more junk is likely to be produced. I try to proofread everything I produce, but when my tenancy is on the chopping block and the rent is overdue, I type as fast as I can, don't proofread, and hope for the best. It's all about survival.

They knew the sound quality was bad. They had to know. I worked somewhere where the doctors dictated on a tape recorder and then played it into the phone. It was a nightmare and when I said anything, they said they could hear it fine. It was not fine at all.
It was distant, the volume was low and it was fuzzy.
Other than through a court order!!!! Never said the info was NEVER given out at all! nm
