They are growing, growing, growing! The best MT company I have ever worked for!
Give them a try.
A year ago, they were using MT World software. Don't
s
Welcome to my world. I have tried to warn others for over a year. Been there done that. Awful
They are by far the worst company out there. Dont forget that your whole check is docked anywhere from 5-10% based on QA checking your work from India. Hmmm. Never saw those penalties coming..It sure saved all of them money and you can bet the client paid full price. I remember seeing some of the work already done and all I could think of was, and they keep this contract because..... You would be penalized if a comma wasnt where they thought it should be etc.. and the line counts never matched. I mean how could you work 10 hours a day and be lucky to hit $50. I didnt know the difference until I went to another company using the same platform. I doubled my money and then some. Anyone who works for them can expect to be ripped off, definitely NOT the American way.
Why in the world do companies -sm
Keep on hiring MTs when there isn't enough work for the ones they already have? I am disappointed to learn that a company I tested for, and accepted a position with, apparently does not have enough work to go around. I used to love medical transcription. Now I'm just downright discouraged and depressed.
Keystrokes for radiology. They are the biggest for radiology out of all of the companies out there.
I have been there 2 years and have been very happy. I make a lot more money than when I worked for Edix/Spheris.
Do all companies require you to work 1 year before you can take vacation?
Meaning you are an employee, of course. Just wondering if there is any hope out there. If you start with a company and it turns out horrible, then you have to start all over again, waiting for another year to go by. I don't want to wish my life away!!
Thanks everyone!
are all companies running low or completely out during this time of year. sm
I have been working for this medium sized MTSO based in Tennessee (not TransHealth) and for the last 2-3 months there has been very low low work-- and guess what, we're expected to get at least 1000 lines to be eligible for Health Insurance paid by employer.... that is 1/2 of it. Here it is 6 a.m. and there is no work on my 2 accounts. Is anyone hiring now that has abundant work and pay at least 9 cpl with benefits. I need another job.
Those are the same companies I thought about telling her. She has maybe 25 year experience in the
hospital setting. I will recommend these companies to her. I think she will be fine with one of them. The hospital is going voice rec.
Most larger companies do not close for holidays, this is a 24 houra day/365 day a year job. (nm)
x
Howdy! In the last year, I applied and got offered jobs at a minumum of 10 companies
and not ONE single place checked any references - not 1. Even the one who said they would, Diskriter, never made 1 call. Do you feel lucky??
Is it safe to ask a company after one year for a raise? Do companies give raises?
Curious
Yes, The Q is still the biggest, but
only cause of the million Indians now doing the work...
If the question is what is the biggest American-based MT company, absolutely not the Q.
What world is that? Wally World?
nm
She is the biggest wind bag of the
and suggest you all watch your backsides.
Me for one. I'm one of their biggest cheerleaders. (sm)
I have worked for some doozies, let me tell ya.
Biggest doesn't mean best
When I worked at MQ I was just a number, at least at TT I feel like a valued employee.
They are still in business and one of the biggest 10 or 15. sm
I was hired at Keystrokes 2 years ago and have been happy since I made the change. It is hard to find a good transcription company, so I consider myself lucky, as I went through 8 companies in 3 years for various reasons prior to being hired at Keystrokes.
They are nice and personal and I make great money. They might seem smaller to others because they are not in the headlines like MQ or Spheris or others, but working for the other companies, I learned that other companies are afraid of Keystrokes because they do so well with their accounts. I decided that the same company name came up as a threat, in a good way, that I needed to be there and am glad I contacted them.
I think that the US only standpoint is a big part of their success. They know they need us, and we know they appreciate us. Win-win for everyone IMO.
One of my biggest complaints about this job is
dealing with these people and waiting for work to be assigned. They have taken as long as 30 minutes to get work assigned and they obviously can't read. I ask for 20 minutes of dictation and they give me 35. You know, 20 means 20; 22 or 25 maybe, but they take advantage every chance they get.
My biggest challenges (SM)
Even after 4 years of editing I still get frustrated when I see pure junk turned out by offshore MTs that I end up having to almost completely re-do. The frustration comes from knowing they'll still get paid, regardless of the quality of their work, as well as knowing your feedback often goes ignored so that the same mistakes are made repeatedly so, of course, you have to keep fixing the same things over and over again.
It's also very frustrating to know that as an editor, even though you've been given the responsibility of making sure the final product is acceptable to be returned to the client, you're paid very little for assuming that responsibility. It gets even worse if you have a boss who is pushing you to edit quickly, while still expecting you to be perfect. This scenario rears its ugly head if you're paid hourly rather than by the line.
The biggest thing is
to spell all numbers (Diabetes type 2, patient has 5 sisters), unless 2 in a row (we placed six 5-0 Vicryl sutures)
Hyphens are a big one (3-cm incision, 5-mm nodule, 2-mm laparoscope, right-sided, untrasound-guided).
Followup versus follow up: Take out the word up, if it makes sense... use 2 words, if it doesn't, use 1 word.
You have to get the BOS 2. There are several small things, but these are what I have seen on tests that you should know. There is even a BOS 3 but most use 2 so you are going to have to learn it.
Where else have you applied?

The cut in pay is the biggest ripoff because VR is just

Other way around. The Q is the biggest, eating up everyone else.

The biggest insult is...
when the MTSOs hire new, or just not very good, MTs for your account that have absolutely no clue what they are doing and produce horrible quality reports. I wake up in the morning and go to work to see that almost all of the reports for my usual dictators have already been done, with all of them having been sent to QA with no less than 10 blanks in each report! I do not see how this is productive for anyone--not QA, not the dictators, and certainly not for me, the loyal MT who has taken the time to learn these docs and stay with this idiotic company for years. I could have done all of those reports (reports that used to be mine) with no blanks..GRRR...
Having multiple PT jobs may be an option for some, but there are those of out there that need benefits for our families. I would love to just stick it to the MTSOs and leave them high and dry with their new overhires that can't even do the job, but I don't have that option until I can find a new full-time gig with bennies...something that I have been looking for now for quite a while but haven't been able to find.
That's my biggest concern, too
The time clock - that's what I really want to know about. How flexible is flexible? Does that just mean you can pick how to split your shift but still have to be at your desk set hours? Maybe a current Transcender can answer that for us.
I understand that pay rate is case by case. A range would have been nice, but I suppose if they had said something like 7 to 9 cpl and you are offered 7 you may be mad since you know they pay others higher, so maybe they'll never tell us an exact scale.
I'm waiting to talk to HR before deciding on what to do. Pay is very important, but is still a secondary concern for me next to truly flexible schedule.
You know - that is the biggest thing I don't like about MDI --the E-mails!
For being an attorney, she certainly can not spell or form sentences correctly!!
Isn't the biggest difference in tax rate? NM
zzz
That's probably the biggest question of all, and nobody knows the answer. nm

You mean WebMdx in the middle there, don't ya? And biggest co. does not mean best,
s
Now that's the biggest crock I have heard yet!
The only reason anyone works is for money. If they have money, they usually don't work. Nobody is doing this for charity or putting themselves last for a lousy recruting job? Please! LOL!
The biggest national MT company....nm
This is the biggest problem with Radiology!
If you are paid by line and having nothing but short reports then you get shorted on pay. If you get paid by report and having nothing but long reports then you get shorted on pay.
Are you being paid by report or by line? If by line then I really would not worry about report quota on a daily basis because it will all work at in the end. If however you are paid by report on this account then that of course is a totally different story.
I will only work a Radiology account that pays by report. I have found that for me I make the most money that way. I have been paid anywhere from $1.10-$1.50 a report. I am now an IC and make $1.50 a report with a wide variety of work.
Good luck.
Hey TTMax. I was one of the biggest supporters
of TT. Apparently the feeling was not mutual. Maybe you can get the ops now that I used to do. No sour grapes here... just did not work out. Wishing you well in your career there. See ya.
They are losing their biggest and one of few rad accounts. sm
My manager told me that it will be gone by the end of the month. It is in NH.
growing
AccuStat now has voice recognition to their software and has a lot of new clients. I run an MD office that uses AccuStat and we have had no problems ever with this company. They have been on the ball with all of our needs, no matter how complicated!! We have over 50 MDs and they all love the company and their flexibility! The owner is a great lady as well....ignore the bad things you see as they are simply not true about this company!!
That will be the biggest problem with this whole deal and do you know what, MQ could care less. No
money out of their pocket if you sit with no work. They could care less. Which office do you work out of. PROBABLY AMHERST
I meant WebMedix. Sorry for the typo. Biggest does not
mean best, I agree!
Yes OSI Xpress biggest line ripoff ever
?
yep, and biggest treads always reek MEOW
clowns. good for a laugh but scarry.
smoooooch.
That is the biggest bunch of horse puckey ever.
I DESPISE Escription, I hate it, hate it, hate it and hate VR no matter what the so-called better platform. It does NOT take me half the time to do a report. If I can type 250 lph I can edit 350 lph AT BEST. I DESPISE Escription and all that is associated with it. Oh and yes, I WOULD LOVE to go back to the old way. And there are plenty of MTs, we all know that--it's just that the work is going elsewhere to uncivilized third-world countries and the patients have no clue their records are being so jeopardized.
my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)
two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year. Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea. I'm pretty motivated. (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes I'd say 40-50/week. I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so. Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.
that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.
I'm pretty motivated.
I don't do Rad so I am not sure if they have any or not. They are growing like crazy though, so
call them and ask. They are usually always hiring. Right now I think they are hiring for Med Rec, Oncology and maybe Rad. Call them and talk to Debbie, my supervisor. She's great.
Yes, it does, it means we are growing! :)
Why can't anyone ever see that with a service? Advertising doesn't necessarily mean something negative,it can simply mean there is an increased need for qualified MTs!
Growing business? nm
not sure if they're growing but...
i was with them not long ago and they were wonderful and i never ever ran out of work. staff was all very supportive and friendly, system was nice, line count was awesome, paid on time and accurately, no complaints at all, just couldn't squeeze in enough time to work for them with the other job. great place to work, though, highly recommend.
They are growing like MAD! This is an awesome
company. Definitely not overhiring. I have been here almost two months now and I have never been happier with my job. The accounts are good, the people are amazing, from management to tech support and even the general office staff. They treat me incredibly well and many, many others on here say the same.
Growing with a new group of
They started a group of hospitals based in TN, and are adding them one at a time during the year. Lots of ER and acute care positions, we get emails noting the new accounts and added positions.
the growing company?
see details inside, only provides an email response.
She's still there. They are just growing so fast, they need more (sm)
many times in office works well for other reasons.
I am growing tired of this sm
So I am going to try to end it, here and now. I am sick to death of hearing I am selling myself cheap working for TT. I can sell my services for wherever I care to, for whatever benefits I need/want and for any line rate I want to. Since I am no longer firm enough to sell my body, I can be a flabby MT making what I feel good about making and the job I am doing to get said income. It is not your business to come on here and tell me that I am selling myself cheap, nor to brag about the line rate you get. When asked about whom you work for, suddenly you can't tell, it is all so hush hush. One has to wonder...if you told, would your supervisor get on here and contradict you? Given your grammar and spelling, I can't think you are worth the money you supposedly get paid. Contrary to what others may think, this is job is NOT about getting higher and higher line rates! I have been in this way too long to be talked to like I have fallen off a turnip truck and I don't know a certain orifice from a hole in the ground. PAY DOES NOT INDICATE THE QUALITY OF MT WORK YOU PRODUCE any more than report cards are an indication of learning. I read a lot on here (note the TWO words there). I listen to complaining about QA people and how obnoxious they are, about MTSOs who don't care about their MTs, about running out of work, about unusable platforms, difficult ESLs, falling line rates and lack of benefits. These are the difficulties of being an MT in a marketplace that doesn't value the people element in any job, and in an industry that is rapidly changing. To come to this particular board is to be bombarded not only by all this complaining, but also by constant gloating over a line rate that may or may not exist in reality. The fact is, unless we are all MTSOs with well paying clients, none of us are going to get rich doing this. We are going to pay our bills and we are going to work hard. Line rates are the same as they were 10 years ago and 12 years ago and 15 years ago. If you find a job with 10 cents or better a line, I'll show you a job where the work stinks, the platform is impossible and the person in charge has more psychological issues than an inpatient on a 72-hour hold. I know, because I have worked for a lot of them. Now, I have recently gone to work for TransTech. Sure, I took 8.5 cpl, MY CHOICE, MY DECISION. When I quickly understood that medical benefits would not total $100 a month, and that as an employee, they will cover part of my FICA taxes and that there is PTO that is figured the way it ought to be figured...8.5 cents was looking good to me. I have made 11 cpl and recently (see above). Even simply talking money, that 2.5 cents will not buy me medical insurance on my own. It hardly covered my taxes last year and I had to work a second job. I had West Nile and it didn't pay for the 3 days I missed from work because of it. I ran out of work frequently too. I am concerned about what the rest of you are concerned about. I don't like running out of work. I detest snotty QA people. I, for one, cannot abide the whining from my MTSO that greets me every time I have a technical problem or if I am sick. I don't like that I can't afford to go the doctor without insurance. I'd like to be respected for my experience and hard work too. If I am going to work extra hard, I'd like extra money for it. We who work for Transtech are bragging these past couple of weeks. Why? Because we have joyfully found a place where we can't complain about all of the above issues. We have seen that money, as in higher line rates, isn't the entire picture. We are finding that we are rapidly more productive, lines are easier to get and we have our job satisfaction back. The 10, 11, 12 cents you get, can't buy love. It can't buy satisfaction. It can't buy THE BEST QA team in the business. It can't buy the most gentle, understanding and patient manager I have ever come across XXXX. It can't buy you the thank you for your hard work that I find on EVERY report returned from QA. It can't buy you technical assistance that is on a problem as fast as a duck on junebug. It can't buy the pat on the back that I have gotten from all the QA people every time I have cleared QA on another new account. Now, 10+ cpl can't buy you love, but 8.5 got it for me!
Not sure what the deal is but the ad said they were growing or something..
and it also stated in the LOOOOOOOOONG AD that they get someone trained and then start training another person and so on. Almost sounded like they ran an assembly line where they get one MT put together and scoot her down the line and then get another ready and so forth. Unfortunately, I do not buy that. I think this employer has come up before in discussions and it was not favorable. Also, if you read the ad, you can tell there is a little chip on the shoulders on what she expects from an MT, leaving me to believe she has been less than happy with whom she has hired in the past. In any event, I do love animals but I have NO interest in applying there.
