I posted a message on the main board about the QA at my company and I just feel like I am going to get canned.  Like I explained in that post, the QA is very controversial.  Some do it this way, some do it that way, and I never get a clear answer on anything.  I also pull up completed reports as samples and will follow it that way, and it still gets marked wrong.  The QA supervisor isn't really any help.  I just feel like they are looking to get rid of people now because their workload is really slowing down.  But ANYWAYS, even though I have 7 months of experience now, I am thinking maybe I should just get a job at a company that is known for hiring newbies such as Medivoxx or Focus Infomatics.  The company I am at now is just making me feel like I am not doing a good job.  So any info on these companies or any others would be appreciated.  Thanks.

MediVoxx?
Does anyone have feedback on MediVoxx?
About MediVoxx
Never went with them myself, but from another MT, very nice people to work with, low rates to start, and she was editing voice recognition reports. That's all I know.
Medivoxx

Does anyone have information on this company?  I have an interview tomorrow with them.  I am a new grad, and I really would like to get a position.  Thanks.

Medivoxx
I know there was a posting recently about this company, but I cannot seem to find it now.  The position they have is for a MT/editing position using VR.  I am not too familiar with this, so if any one has info on it I would appreciate it.  One of my concerns is how many lines per day doing editing VR work produces? Another question I have is if anyone else out there does VR work, is it worth it?  Thank you all.
MediVoxx

Does anyone have any new info on MediVoxx?  I recieved an application from them, but I am not sure if I want to do it or not.  Please if anyone has some recent info let me know!  Thank you!

Sincerely,

Nissa

Medivoxx

I applied with them several weeks ago.  They tell me every week that they hope to get more information to be by the end of the week.  Has anyone else had a similar experience or have any information on them.

Thanks

Medivoxx
Yes I have had that experience with them. I bugged them every day and I got put off every day. They take forever. And it is true they do a lot more testing after the initial test. I ended up failing one to the later tests they gave me.
Medivoxx
I've been waiting on them 3 weeks to respond to my application ... haven't even tested yet! Supposedly they're short-staffed - which is really depressing.
Medivoxx
The application requires the applicant to fill in "compensation desired (be specific)".  I was receiving 6.5 cents per line.  The lines were not character driven but rather carriage return determined.  I know I would make a lot less at this rate with a character driven line so I would want to ask higher than that, and  I do know there is usually a different rate for editing.  Can you tell me what the going rates are for each type of transcription, and what I should realistically put here.  Any guidelines would be appreciated.
Medivoxx...sm
Does anyone or has anyone ever worked for Medivoxx?  I was thinking of applying there.  I know I have heard you start out at 3-1/2 cpl at training for VR and then after training it is 5 cpl for VR.  I think that is all they do is VR.  If they paid 5 cpl for VR would it be worth it since it isn't straight transcription?
MediVoxx

Does anybody know about MediVoxx?  Anybody ever worked for them or know somebody who has worked for them?

I am testing with them and I am just wondering how they are to work for.  Is the pay on time?  Is their pay scale fair?

I checked the archives and a lot of people have asked, but there doesn't seem to be anybody who has worked for them that has responded.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Is this Medivoxx? nm

MediVoxx
That sounds exactly like what I am doing right now. I have gone through that whole process. I turned in my 12 dictations yesterday and they went to QA. I kind of thought the same thing, but these notes were dated 08/2003, so they were very old files. If they would have been dated Sept 2009 then I would have been more suspicious.

He said as soon as he heard back from QA that he would send me back an email hopefully with an offer.

So, did you do the last set of dictations? I had 12 total. 8 wav docs for one doctor and 4 wav/4 dss for another one, but the wav/dss files were the same, so it ended up being 12. The samples they sent to me seemed inconsistent. I didn't like that. They also don't follow BOS, which I don't like. I'm still hopeful though.

Any experience with MediVoxx? nm

Info on Medivoxx
I do not currently work there, but I can tell you what I know.

You have to transcribe one dictation and fill out a long application. Then, take two more tests. One is for grammar and the other is spelling and definitions, etc.

After that, you get a phone interview. Then you have to sign agreements and type more files for them, which can take up to two weeks (without pay.)

Then, if you qualify, you are hired as an entry level MT editing voice recognition documents. The pay is 35 cpl for one month or until they feel you are ready.

At that point, you become a one pass MT/editor for VR files, starting at 5 cpl. They do give raises (up to 75 cpl) and bonuses.

I'm in the final process of being hired right now.

Anyone currently working for Medivoxx?

Is anyone currently working for Medivoxx out of Louisville, KY? Thanks!

Any info on Medivoxx

Anyone working for Medivoxx? I checked the archives but there really was not that much info to go on.  I have never done VR so I would like to know about this before accepting a position.  If there is anyone working for them how many lines do you edit in a day?. The pay is low 3.5 to start while trained.  Is this worse than just typing?  I have done straight typing for 5 years. I have lost all my physician accounts to India and then worked for a hospital for only 5 months being laid off due to shortage of work, so I do not want to play around with another company. I want to stay put for a while.

Thanks for all information.

Any info on Medivoxx?
Does anyone know anything about this company?
Medivoxx is offshoring

This once wonderful company has been taken over by aliens, and I only wish it was the outer-space kind.  On behalf of those currently being bent over and the clients that are being lied to, do what you do best my friends.  Spread this news like wildfire.

Did anyone do the MediVoxx test?

Did anyone test with this company or know anything about it?

I worked for MediVoxx
I worked for them briefly about 3 years ago.  Although I do not remember the transcription portion of the test to be that long, I do remember that there were so many steps in the process that I never thought I was actually going to start work.  I got done with them rather quickly because their VR software was the worse I have ever seen.  I ended up having to retype the entire reports over.  No way was I going to get paid a low VR rate and have to retype the entire documents. Although things may have changed since then, you may want to keep that in mind.
Lartech Healthprime/MediVoxx
Has anyone ever worked for Healthprime or MediVoxx?
Well, Medivoxx's HR people need to be fired
it sounds like. That's CRAZY. No company in my 20 years has made me jump through hoops like that & transcribe that many 'test' documents. You can tell from a couple of reports & maybe a multiple choice questionnaire if the candidate has experience or not - not to mention checking references... I guess I will cross Medivoxx off my list until they learn how the MT hiring/testing process works.
Anyone here working for Medivoxx that can share experience with them? nm

Shapin, Execuscribe, MedScribe, QED, Encompass, Medivoxx Anyone?
Has anyone worked for Shapin, Execuscribe, MedScribe, QED, Encompass, or Medivoxx. Just wondering the good and bad of each company.
Spheris does what? I've just got done testing for MD-IT. I heard they bought out MediVoxx in Lo

The platform is Word. Their program works with Word but does not change how Word works. nm
The benefits just changed the first part of this month. I don't have them but I remember them being reasonabl for a single person. Family and spouse was not reasonable in any way (in my opinion).
Probably someone who works on...sm
a variety of (or all) accounts and interchanges regularly to help with backlog.  I previously worked for a company and they called it something else but basically the job description was someone who could work on any account at any given time and worked on accounts as needed (no specific primary/secondary, etc.).  The place were I worked paid these MTs a higher rate.
yep, works well. nm

Here is how it works
Review resumes as they come in. Separate into two piles. Immediately respond to all unqualified MTs with a simple email. Even if it is 100, it will take about an hour - no need to respond to follow ups to those, if any. Next, reply to qualified MTs with a simple email telling them resume was received and the next step and to email you when that step is completed. This may take a couple of days, tops! Everybody deserves a response, even those not qualified. It is called professional courtesy. Please. All recruiters do is recruit. It's not that difficult!
I know someone who works for them
From what I understand she is very happy there. If you have the experience, you probably can ask for 9 or 10 per line. They will negotiate with you. They are a growing company, management is nice and helpful, but a little slow getting everything off the ground, it took a bit of patience on her part to actually be up and working. They do outsource but never has run out of work.
What works for me is this:
1. I tell people who know I work from home that I am not to be disturbed unless someone dies or the house catches on fire, NO exceptions, NONE.
2. I screen every call and NEVER answer the phone until I am finished for the day. I also pick up any messages at that time. If the school needs to call you, can they call on another line? If you answer the phone every time it rings or even listen to the messages you will never get any typing done, trust me. :-) I have found VERY few phone calls are true emergencies.
3. Explain as best you can that you are paid on production and when your fanny is not in your chair you are making nothing at all, so you can you borrow some money when your bills come due?

The bottom line is that if you do not treat this as a *real* job then no one will respect your wishes. If you had a job outside of the home and were on the phone all day long or had people dropping by to visit all day I sure bet you would be fired! It really is tough to put your foot down, but you can do it!!!
Who works for TTS currently?

I have been offered a VR editing job with TTS and would like to here from people who currently work for them.  Yes, I did see the postings further down on the board about TTS and that is why I want to hear from current TTS VR editors.

What I want to know is how many lines do you get a day and many of those lines are actually VR lines and not typing lines?    Also, how many lines do TTS require their MTs to have a day?  Do you use a 9-pin foot pedal with the sticker on the bottom that reads IN-DB9?  Do you have dial up internet connections?   Lastly, do you feel that you are making more money with VR editing and saving your hands/wrists/arms too?

Thanks

Anyone who works for
TransTech - Will we get paid before or after the holiday, since our pay date is 5/28?
I know someone who works there....
and she is NOT very happy. She is definitely looking elsewhere. They must be pretty hard up for MTs since I keep getting a recruiting postcard from them in the mail almost every month!
They will - it's in the works
nm
no, that's not how it works.

MS Works
Your company should provide you with technical support to help you. ...Good luck!
NO one works there
Indian based company and have no clue when called office as it just rings and seems no one works in US at all. And even if work I hear they dont have good Management at all
works well for me.nm
nm
you must be one of the MTs that works
instead of running out here to post.
That works, too.

They may have something in the works, but right now there

isn't enough work.  They have lost several people recently due to the lack of work and still there isn't enough work. I like the company, so I'm not bashing them, but if there is a lot of work it isn't showing in our updates we get 3 times a day and I'm running out of work every day.  If we're on 15 minutes past our shift we are asked to get off, doesn't matter if we haven't been able to get our lines.

There is one account that is particularly difficult and I think that has caused some people to leave, but even that account is running out of work on a daily basis.

Is that how it works?
Name the pay you want and you shall have it? Clients will pay whatever they can get away with paying. What MTSO in their right mind would to to their clients and say By the way, we plan to charge a whole lot more than the other MTSOs because our MTs demand higher pay. Don't you think the client would just go elsewhere?
Um, no, this isn't how it works. (sm)
Webmedx wouldn't have a great reputation if this were the norm. Obviously, this person isn't telling you the whole story.
How the pay works out to be the same

They do fool some people with that.  When the company I worked for went to NO SPACES or VBC, everyone's pay was raised by 2 cent.  I have no clue why they would do this unless the client said they did not want to pay for spaces when their rates were increased.  It was no big deal to us because it honestly worked out to be the exact same pay with the 2 cent increase.  Now if the company says they are going VBC and you do not get an increase.......that's a big fat cut in pay.

I guess that is why some companies think offering 10-12 cpl is very attractive, but it is for VBC, which is really only 8-10 cpl for the MT.  If they say 10-12 cpl with spaces, that is what is really attractive.

of course it works.
nm
How it works

The MTSO is hungry for accounts. They low ball the client and then advertise like crazy to find those MTs gullible or desperate enough to take on the low pay. They usually do find some but the ones with any self respect who can offer quality and quantity won't work for such low wages. Hence the rub.

Hey, if that works for you

But scheduling is one element of control a company forfeits in order to avoid paying benefits, contributing to Social Security, handling tax withholding, etc.  Companies that want to have it both ways, avoid all the responsibilities of an employer, but have the sceduling control of an employer, are dishonest.  And I think this is indicative of other areas in which the company may not be fair with you.  (At least, that's been my experience.)

It's your choice whether to go along with it.  If you are happy, great.  Those of us who might choose to make an issue of it realize we do this at the risk of losing work.  And as long as there are MTs who choose to go along with this policy, there will always be plenty of you to replace us with.

Yes, it works out to be more than 65 cpl, usually. SM
FYI though, this also depends on margins and font size. Font size and margins aren't a factor in 65-chars line but they make a difference in gross line counting. If the margins are set at 1 inch all around and font size is 12, 6 c gross line would be around 8 or 9 c 65-chars line. At least that was my experience in the past when paid on gross line, in the good old days.
