Set your preferences in Word (tools)
to do this. Shorthand does not have this option. If this does not work, you can write a macro to do it, but it would be a very complex macro to write
same lines as word document
The only thing you dont get paid for is the ADT screen, which takes me about 2 seconds to hit the search, date and cc. I really dont care about not getting paid for ADT because it doesn't take any time at all to do this. The document itself always comes out the same line count as word. I think the benefit for this program outweighs not getting paid for ADT at least for me. I also have 2 IC accounts on the side. Their programs are time consuming in figuring out codes, and then saving and sending it in a different format... plus dr. lists manual insert. Another thing on one account you have to email the person every time to get more work so it doesnt flow like DQS. So I think DQS is the most user friendly program I've used. When you copy and paste DQS to word its always been exactly the same lines for me and also the red headings you are paid for.
I suppose you have to write down the line count for every single document and it doesnt track them
for a total for the while day. That is what I was wondering.
And I like how they say to keep Word open and type as they come in...sm
Like I am going to sit here for 8 hours and wait for one job an hour to come in and type it right away so it can meet the clients needs. I understand it's slow today cuz of the holidays but sick of their emails telling us we need to be on when they are off and there isn't even work.
In my Extext experience count was about 10% less than the Word count. nm

Yes, that's including headings. I use Open Office which gives me a char count.
What it doesn't include is anything in the ADT screen, just what we type in the report.
I don't use the Word line count, I use the
character count without spaces, and a character is a character is a character and so on and all characters are created equal. I then divide the number of characters by 65 and come up with a line count. I realize that the MTSOs don't pay for underlining, bolding, etc., and I don't believe that word counts those either.
My line count is about 3-8 less than Word, whereas...
when I worked for OSi the line difference was 24-35. Needless to say, I am VERY happy at Transtech!
11-word line count??? Has anyone...
ever worked for a company that uses this? I counted a few documents with this vs. a 65-character line (including spaces), and it is WAY less in total lines. The company offering this insists it is comparable. Has anybody else encountered this method of line counting?
Thanks.
Word says line count is different
from that shown on the Dictaphone website, much much much less. Look im not gonna argue my point, you try it for yourself and come to your own conclusion. It has nothing to do with the acct, it is the way the company counts lines, doesn't count headers and footers and other characters. I wonder if it even counts when you hit the space bar for a word expansion. Try it you'll see.
Sylcount vs. MS Word count . . .
I recently started working for a company that uses Sylcount, counting by line, everything in a line is a line, but compared to counting in MS Word, 65-character with spaces, I am getting way lower counts with the Sylcount. Anyone experience this. I was under the impression that the count would be little higher than doing it MS Word, but it's been much, much lower. I'm so disappointed. It seems that counting this way, if the font is smaller, the line will be smaller, it really makes it inaccurate and count so much lower.
Ok. So for each report you wrote down the word count?
then compared it? Just wondering. I probably won't do it because that would just take up too much of my time but wondered how you did it.
Line count in MS Word 2007
Does anybody know how to get their line count when typing a regular office note in Microsoft Word 2007? This software is so new to me. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Open RadNet first and then open IT. Then the up Arrow and highlight to link, then OK.

QA error values survey...
I am just curious and trying to get a randomized answer regarding error values when an editor/QA/QC audits reports. For example: Major medical error has what point value, minor English error has what point value, etc. Also, if you don't mind stating what company this is or was for? If you would rather email me, you are more than welcome.
Hard to believe a co. values you if your micro-paycheck
!
No I didnt see that, is there anything this country values anymore SM
and is willing to pay other than tech stuff? I know my son went to college for graphic design and he doesnt make much.
It's like saying that you don't need the proper tools to be a carpenter. You can't use on
screwdriver with a different type of screw.
It does not sound like you are out of a job. How about going to them instead of complaining to a group of people who cannot help you get started? Call Becky at ext 301. She helps everyone with everything.
MTSOs like you are total tools.
Try treating your MTs like valuable employees, and not expendable machinery, why dontcha?
Here's the productivity tools site
https://secure.bayscribe.com/expander/
I wish I could help you with transferring the expander, but I can't. MIne doesn't work in Bayscribe (I use Stedman's Smartype) so I type it in Word and then cut and paste into Bayscribe.
Good luck with your expander!
My husband is a carpenter and has his own tools. sm
There are a lot of professions, employees, who have to have their own tools including plumbers, mechanics, cement finishers and hairdressers. I am sure there are more, but those I can think of off the top of my head right now.
Short answer - about a month. There are a lot of tools that sm
you can use. Talk to your lead about SH and other ways to increase your speed on there. Once you are used to it, you will actually like it!
Then provide samples and learning tools.
We are all only human. The doctor is supposed to be reviewing and signing these reports they dictate. Are they not? If they sign off a report that has an error, that then makes the dictating physician liable, not the MT. This docking for errors sounds like another scheme to make money off of hard-working MTs. tsk tsk
Sure, go to Tools, Options, Save, and then look on the bottom....sm
There at the bottom you have options of using a password to modify, password to open, and read-only recommended. You can also do the same thing under File, Save As, on the border of the Save As box on the far right there is the Tools option and brings up the same options, tools, then general options. I would recommend just adding the password to it. Then when you open it, it will ask you for the password to modify or open as a read only.
ditto to anon. Love my software tools that make

Alt T then Alt W while in a document. sm
This gives you characters, including spaces; add together and divide by 65 for # of lines. I put this # on my log. I can then double check with session statistics at the end of the day if I want.
Glad you like it!
AB Document Services???
Does anybody have any info about this company out of Arizona????
P.S. Make sure you document everything.

AB Document Services?
Does anybody have any current information on this company that is in Arizona (work load, etc.)?
TIA!
If you're in a VR document, even if it's
so bad that you have to retype entire paragraphs, it's still considered VR -- if that's what you're asking. When people refer to switching between VR and straight typing, they are referring to entire reports, some of which you type from scratch and some of which you deal with what VR has vomited out. Good luck to you.
If I figured on the same document why would this matter?

Mine post soon as document is sent
The longest delay I've ever had was about 30 seconds.
Isn't it against the law for a company to ask you NOT to document your OT hours?
That alone would be a huge red flag for me. They want you to work OT, but not document it on your timesheet! That smells fishy!
doing only a 'spell check' on a VR document
without reading and correcting the whole document, line by line, will NEVER work!
Now I understand! That's the way the editing MTs do it when getting the high line count?
Wow!
On second thought, maybe I should try it out!!!
You are supposed to document discrepancies in a QA note...
of course, doing so will take you over your 15% max of QA referrals, but what the hey...
This isn't a medical document, editor. Focus. :)

It appears to do only the document you are in. As I trust my co. to tally for me, I don't know m
about the function. You might be able to write a macro to do that...but I have no idea how to do that.
could you quickly copy and paste your document into another? then
you could just keep adding on the lines in each document to your own master document for the day. Then you would have a line count for the day. I bet you could write a macro to do this.
mine post immediately as soon as I end the document.

446 lines in 30 minutes? What does your document look like? Same as before your editing?..nm

The platform is Word. Their program works with Word but does not change how Word works. nm
The benefits just changed the first part of this month. I don't have them but I remember them being reasonabl for a single person. Family and spouse was not reasonable in any way (in my opinion).
Think they're Integrated Document Solutions. Someone asked about them last month. nm

Had to toggle between many screens, no support or qa to speak ofl they dock $10 per document

ExText is integrated with Word. Auto correct is a part of Word.
ExText is a Word based platform. When the page opens for you to type the document it will be just like you are typing in MS Word.
anyone work for Oracle - do they use Word or a Word-based program - e-mail me nm

Just wanna work in Word - need company that works in WORD! nm

Their program works with Word and does not change how Word functions. sm
You use your own expander. Overall I feel it is user friendly and I like it.
Does the Emdat platform use Word or is it Word-based? nm

Part & Full Time Data Entry & Document Coding Position - Sara McDaniel - HR Administrator
This company has ads on other web sites. You have to pay them $55 to do a background check up front. Guess what? If you don't get hired, they've got your $55. Don't know if it's legit - just posting facts.
