Busiest Days of the Week for Your Company?
I always thoughts Sunday nights were busy, getting preops ready, etc., Monday's are pretty busy and Friday is always busy, but the days in between seem to be really slow this year. Is anyone finding certain days of the week to be busier than others?
VR was so efficient and my pay was so high I ...
but not at TT, different company. Jobs were eliminated due to VR coming online at a hospital.
VR not efficient? Need to check into a
good platform. The one I use is almost perfect. I do not think most will change back from VR to straight once it has been started. Probably will just want the MTers to work the bugs out.
If they are out of NC, supposedly their software is very efficient.
I have not worked there, but talked to them when they were trying to start up the company about 2 years ago.
It is not efficient, you are right. However, companies that are all virtual seem to have
I've been working from home for over 15 years. I would say you'll have to toughen up a bit and learn to be extremely watchful and promote yourself and your intentions more.
Unorganized? Maybe a bit.
Uncaring? What the heck do you want? LOL It's a job. They made a mistake. If you want caring, go find a little hole-in-the-wall 1-MT clinic where you can get to know everyone and work. Sounds like you're probably young or never have worked in the real world before.
Remember this about their mistakes: Mistakes happen and I'm betting YOU will make them, too. Do you want them blasting you for it? Do you want them to call you unorganized and uncaring? Do you want them to take the same impression of you as you are taking of them? I doubt it.
think the owner is very nice and efficient, however,
think some of her people have let some of us fall through the cracks.
Honest, efficient company, TransTech is.
That's been my experience (and I'd appreciate not being attacked by the bitter poster we often get here).
If you just want to sit at your desk and push out reports uninterrupted by nonsense and criticism, and get compensated fairly, with good benefits to boot, this is one company to do it at. No headaches.
I get what you are all saying about them not having to give give you work, but...
I guess I just figure that as an IC, I am basically my own business and it is my responsibility to make sure that the work is done when it should be. I just think that if the standard of the company is 24 hour TAT then that is what I am agreeing to do when they hire me. There are advantages for both of us to the IC senerio, they do not have to pay benefits, or take care of collecting and reporting the taxes, and I have to adhear to the 24 hour TAT (or what every thier standards are) but can do that during hours that are convenient to me. Of course it is better for the company if they know exactly when I am going to be sitting at my desk and typing that is why they have the option of hiring employees. Just my opinion and wanting things to be like they used to be.. I guess I have to get out of my time warp or look a little harder for a company who really knows what IC status means.
I currently work for KS..If I were you, I would give (sm)
it maybe a little more time, just to see if it gets better. But as soon as you really think it's definitely not for you, I would contact the client manager in the office and tell them it's not working out for you on this account. They have been more than fair with me and I believe they will do all in their power to accommodate you. If you don't know for sure who to contact about it, talk to Becky and she will either help you or direct you to the right person. Good luck!
I also work both until I am sure new job will work out. Then give 2 weeks.
:+
I don't work for them, but can give some info
I interviewed with them several months ago. For level 3 acute care, I was offered 10 cpl for IC, 11 cpl over a certain number of lines per week. For IC, line requirement was 1000 lines per week and seemed that they would be very flexible. Use your own computer if IC.
I was also offered 8.5 cpl for employee status (with incentives depending on lines per hour worked). I think they required 20 hours per week and have to keep an average of at least 150 lines per hour (it sounded like they had a time clock system). They provide the computer if employee status.
Everyone I spoke to was very nice, especially the recruiter. I turned the offer down due to reasons not relating to the company in particular. They did tell me that they had a lot of ESL (the test consisted of all ESL), but I don't know if this would apply to ER. Hope this helps.
Ask for extra work, they are probably willing to give it if it's there. nm
nm
I work there and am very happy. Give 'em a try!
Very professional, accommodating, and fair.
Do you mean in addition to your reg Friday work? When do they give it to you?
nm
Forbid? This is the USA! You give them 8 hours work...sm
for 8 hours pay, or 1000 lines for whatever rate. They can pay me for the other 16 hours in the day and then forbid me. Can we forbid them to have other employees? Wake up ladies!
Majority of MTs say just give me the work and leave
x
Give a 2-week notice, but work less
therefore, you will not be out of much money if they indeed do not pay you. Also, if you leave, be well informed that you probably will not make what you are making now at any other company right off the bat. You said you have been at this place for years, so you will have to build up your income again and pay. Sad to say, but they probably have people who can do the job at less money now and are willing to sacrifice a good employee to have a bigger cut of the pay that they can get cheaper. I wish you the best, but I do not think it is personal. I believe it is business and you generate too much income away from them. Good luck and I hope you find another good home.
Then they should give that work to those who have a shortage. Otherwise, they are overhiring. nm

Maybe the company you work for would give you an advance? sm
Depending upon where you work, how long you have been there, size of the company, etc., that might be a consideration. Also, maybe other temporary work, like Kelly Girls (if they even have that anymore). I know we used to have temps in our office that were paid every week.
The pawn shop idea might be a good one. I think if you don't have the money in 30 days, you can just pay the interest or whatever. You wouldn't lose the instruments. If you are willing to part with someone, ebay and Craigslist can provide some quick cash. Good luck to you. I am my sole support, and I have been in tight situations before and know how scary that can be. My heart goes out to you.

The post you took the time to critique may be been riddled with typos, but your's is riddled with ignorance. This is a message board, dear. What an MT posts here can hardly be compared to the confidential legal documents in a patient's permanent medical record. To come here and judge a person's qualifications and skill set based on a few statements quickly jotted down in a post is not only unwarranted, but arrogant, asinine, etc. I'm so tired of seeing professional MTs being picked apart because of a few typos on a public forum. I know this doesn't happen on other message boards. Why here??
I don't take the time to proofread the random phrases I post here like I do with the reports I transcribe. I seriously doubt many others do either.
This site is by far the most negative forum on the web. Inflammatory, negative remarks don't add to the conversation or benefit any of us. Frankly, I'm tired of reading them.
Work not taken-Give company a chance
I have been with Transcend for almost 6 years and while they are not a perfect company they are better than most. There have been mergers in the past-I actually came from the other MDI (which was a much more laid back company). As far as I've seen with past mergers you get to keep your work. They don't take you off it and give it to someone else. That makes no sense to have to train new MTs for your accts and you on something else. I know you are unhappy that you have to make a change but give Transcend a chance. They are a good company. Is it a good fit for everyone? No, but you won't know until you give it a chance with an open mind. And before the bashers get on and say I am management, I am not, just another in the trenches MT who has worked for other services in the past. As far as outsourcing, I know it is done but as far as I can tell it is not a lot. I work on 2 different platforms and both have plenty of work and have had for quite a while now.
THANK YOU!! WOW even if i wanted to work there I would NEVER give her the option of a referral as
Great place to work - give 'em a try!
:)
Do they give psychological tests also to allow you to work for them for free? It's
LMAO!
Give me one too! Imagine the nerve of them expecting you to work your shift.
LOL
MedWrite Transcription... anyone work/worked for this company can give me any info?

We Cannot Give Up..
I have been doing this for 10 years now and I believe that none of us should give up. It is my understanding that part of the reason why they are going offshore anyway, besides low cost, is because they cannot find anyone who wants to do the work here. Partly, I disagree with nobody wanting to find work because it took me many, many attempts to find a job and I was so desperate at the time that I worked for one of those Indian companies. I found that team leaders there are not qualified enough to lead and really have no leadership abilities. Also, the MTs are not great either. If we all team up together, I believe with my whole heart that we can truly win our jobs back. Besides...how many people do you know wants their medical reports and social security numbers floating over there anyway? I know I don't.
give it to you
on a handout in the packet. I didn't gain, didn't lose.
I would give it a try
about how MTs were dropping out of the sky like flies. I don't believe it. Good ones are very hard to find. Ones that will work and not take a half day to go to Wal-Mart. It is not a straight typing job. Most people think it is. I have people calling me all the time saying My sister is interested in that. She can type. and on and on.
i give you the

Why give up one?
It sounds like you have a good thing going working amongst both? But if I HAD to give up one, I'd probably give up the national and stay with the smaller MTSO with plenty of work and good communication.
Seems a bit low? It IS A LOT LOW! Don't give
them the benefit of your time for the interview. Line pay is not worth it at all! Taking a job with a co that pays line pay says you are not into quality because apparently they aren't! All of the QA I know will not work for line pay. There are companies out there that pay decent for QA. Don't settle for it or you will be selling your fellow QA folks down the river. Hang tight and find these hourly jobs. I have one that is a pretty good rate. Tell the 2-cent-per-line companies what they can do with their QA jobs
ugh.. i give up.. that should say.. SM not NM ..
nm
I give up
You know, most MTs who post on this board seem very negative. I have 2 years experience, but you don't even know what I have been doing in those 2 years, or my educational background, so how could you even say I am not qualified? I was just responding to a post directed at me. Good grief.
wow...you can do all of that but you cant give
Sheesh.. Glad I didn't apply.
in my exp. with KS, you give them
what schedule you prefer (what you already work now, etc.), whether you prefer to work a certain weekend day (I prefer 5a-1p, Sun-Thurs). Basically, they trust that you will be on during most of those day time hours. However, they are very flexible, and are very in tuned to you switching hours in the case of low work volumes, or appointments, etc. They trust you will get your lines in, somehow, in your 40-hour week. They just like to have a preferred shift, for paperwork, I think, like MQ USED to do, before they went anal.
Just keep looking, don't give up.
Real QA does take a fine eye and stellar information base. MTs that edit never make any decent money. It will take a couple years or so to really make a decent living alongwith the right company and account. Making 9 cpl on an account you can't even understand could wind up paying you less in the end than a 6 cpl account with speakers you actually can understand. So, the right fit is also important to your eventual success. Still, it'll take time. Just keep looking and be persistent.
Good luck to you and God Bless.
why not give it a try
I haven't used Meditech before, so can't comment on that, but you can tell MDI that you want to try it for a few days P/T and get a feel for it before committing to the job. They'll probably be okay with that.
Maybe. Only way to know is give them a try but
x
at least they give you something
that is better than the same line rate for years with the same company.
Don't give up.....
Compared to alot of the MTs on this site I would consider myself a newbie...7-8 yrs experience with stronger skills in psyche, but nonetheless a newbie. This site has helped me out a lot, I promise you. I have learned not to give up. How long have you been in this field? I worked at a hospital for a couple of years and then was fortunate to float around here at home. I was recently let go from a company (7/21/2008) that I loved but due to offshoring, I was let go. I had given alot of myself but not nearly as much as I could have as I look back on it. But, in either case, you take the positive with the negative and build upon it....you have to make it work for you (I love it). I considered going outside my home to work but then changed my mind as I realized that my complaints are the same as all at home MTs (lack of socialization, weight gain, basically not getting out of the house). I have decided that I love my job and only want to give FN the best, but I love me and want the same things for myself, so I am going to make some changes.....
I give up
Well, it would be at least nice if they would get back to you with your score. I will take that as a start. I guess if they want perfection, they can pay for it too!
