Modern technology ist to be blamed for the downfall of the medical transcription industry done by MTs.
As already seen in many cases, modern technology makes people obsolete and machines are replacing us.

you have it so WRONG MT30+ LISTEN UP MT30........sm
I am older than you are. I do not have little kids. I've been working as an MT since 1977.
I can tell you have an attitude and are just ready to fight with everyone.
I don't know you but I don't like you. You have a real chip on your shoulder and you come on this board every day looking to puff yourself up as an OLDER AND more experienced MT. Well I was born in 1951 lady and I can tell you this. This business is not going down hill because of moms wanting to work from home, this business is going down hill because of the greed of the MTSO and the cheapness of the doctors and the willingness of MTs to put up with it.
Why don't you go get a job where you can vent your frustrations instead of on this board where people are trying to help each other?
You are SO right, MT30+
These people who are buying into this VR myth have to be newbies, any of us who have been around for over 30 years, KNOW what we used to make in the past.
VR is a cruel way to undercut MTs' salaries and also to get rid of MTs altogether. The ones on here who believe in VR are in for a rude awakening when they get their programs trained and lose their jobs.
But the MTSOs feed off of this ignorance and that is how they are getting rich off of naive MTs.
We can't tell them anything, though, so save your breath. They'll just have to find out the hard way.
Hey MT30+ - How's that new job of yours?
I know you were so excited to get started. It sounded good.
To MT30+
It's seems weird, like I have gone back in time or something. One account, same doctors, good pay, no BS from QA, and very supportive management. They even paid me $12 an hour plus production during training. The account was way out of TAT. No one seemed to care, but then I got an e mail from the owner of the company thanking me for my hard work and bringing it back to within 24 hours. You don't find this anymore. First thing I asked when they hired me was if they were going to sell out anytime soon. Don't think so. I hope this will last until my retirement. The client has already been with the company for more than 6 years, so I hope they don't decide to offshore for a cheaper rate. No stress, back to making a decent living, and lovin life! Good luck to you. Once you get past the new platform stuff it will be a breeze.
MT30+
How big is their company? Do you have someone to report to? At my company we have someone called a liaison or we can always call operations and get a real person in case of an emergency. Don't they give you someone to call in case of emergency? If I were in your shoes, I would call them every single day until they got so sick of me they sent me what I needed. Don't know what else to say except good luck to you.
MT30+
That is a bummer. I hope that you will find a different company where things work out better for you. I would much prefer smaller companies (used to work for the Q) but if they are too small, that is a whole different set than with a huge corporation.....(sigh). Again, good luck.

I agree with you. I bet you and I are the same vintage. So many younger MTs (and I do not mean to paint them all with the same broad brush) are very me-focused. Sure, MTSOs can ask for anything they want; ICs are free to say no and not work for them. That's hwo the free market economy works. I have turned down lots of IC jobs for one reason or another. I don't get to tell the MTSO how to run their business; they don't get to tell me what to do, but if I don't fit the profile of what they want, they will find someone else who does.

this is not MT30+ but I know who that was sm
who worked for Landmark and she didn't get paid either! Im telling you they are doing this to get their really behind accounts caught up. What better way to do it. Get 15 or 20 MTs to do (just example) 10 reports a piece. Tick them off, they quit, don't pay them, VOILA free work!
Im not talking about people they have hired to do certain accounts all the time etc. But not everything is the same and lots of these accounts are dialed right into the hospital system because they are overflow. You get absolutely no guidance as to hwo these accounts are done, account specifics, nothing! They don't answer your questions either.. My experience was the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
MT30+, can you say where you are now
where the work has dried up? Trying to figure out from the postings here if any company has enough work these days... Thx!
MT30+....
I believe MT30+ indicated in a few of her posts that she didn't have enough work where she is right now, so they probably aren't hiring right now.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, MT30+...
MT30+
MT, I really have nothing to offer except to tell you how very sorry I am that this happened to you. Good luck on your interview tomorrow. I wish I could be there and I would good you a nice dinner. Hang in there and have courage.
MT30+
Whoops, I mean COOK you a good dinner. Have worked a double shift and am beat. I am sorry. Anyway, I wish you all the best!
MT30+
BIG CONGRATULATIONS AND A HUG! They are lucky to have you! Best of luck to you!
MT30+
Believe me I know what you mean.
MT30+, You are being confused,
I believe, by Confused, with another poster. Check out Whew on the main board. I think you may be two different people but Confused has confused the situation and believes you are one in the same. Shame to start a war if this is what happened. Anyway, congratulations on your new job. I hope it works out well for you.
MT30 only posted once.
You need to quit drinking at your desk..LOL
I'm in a great mood. Glad another useless person who calls herself an MT is ready to fly the coop. More work for me!!
The above comment is for MT30+....nm

Amen MT30+
Very well said.
Well MT30 wasn't that a gem reply
Good thing you work at home, such hatefullness. Sound like a wunder.. fullll person
Another useless person who calls herself an MT others do not have to work with. Recognize your partial phrase.
MT30" Are you kidding me? How old fashioned are you? ...sm
If you are telecommuting, this is just ridiculous.
Nowadays everything is done online, except for the ones who are still stuck in the stone ages.
Even training on a software is done online.
If I work for a company situated in California and I am living in New York, I am not going to take a plane and fly there to be trained on a company software.
The 'meetings' and 'trainings' are all online.
But you have to take into consideration the time difference acc. to the time zones.
Or is it possible that I am missing something here, is the industry going backwards?
MT30 having a bad day i think... very grumpy today
JUST PLAIN SOUR and looking for an argument
OMG MT30+ you are completely twisting everything
When on earth did I say NO MT should work a weekend. I work them now! Just not every weekend. I worked in a hospital for 15 years and rotated weekends. I have worked for this company for 5 and work one weekend a month (voluntarily). I have done my duty. You are absolutely out of your mind if you have come up with that idea that I stated no MT should work a weekend. We all do and and we all have. I have chosen not to work EVERY WEEKEND> You are truly delusional and making crap up about what I said. Totally twisted. I don't give a crap if you work weekends. I don't give a crap if this is 24/7/365 industry. Work everyone single one of those hours, see if I care. Why do you care that I choose not to work a mandatory weekend day every month. Why do you have to bash me because of it. My point and I will say it ONE MORE TIME and never again.... I don't have to, so I won't. Its a choice for all of us. I never whined. I never accused, I never judged. What is with your attitude? I am totally just shocked that you call yourself a professional.
I completely agree with you MT30, I do
remember that happening as well and remember that a lot of the women that went came back rather quickly because of the working conditions that were there, what they were expected to wear, act, etc.
Like you, I consider this to be a slap in the face and could not believe it was allowed to be posted. I've been an MT for 24 years and again, I believe now I have seen everything.
Ouch! I agree with MT30+
Maybe you have never been in a position where you HAD to take a job at 6 cpl but you shouldn't call those you have a disgrace to the profession. The profession may evolve into what some consider a disgrace but for the most part, I don't think it's the MTs fault.
See MT30+ post below...Think I understand now her issues
Likely this is her attitude even when talking to recruiters.
There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance, and I think this poster just illustrated that very well for all of us.
MT30+, I hope you find something in life to make you happy.
I totally agree MT30 is an MTSO and a bad one probably... one that makes you work sm
for pennies and on Christmas and every weekend even if your kid has a soccer game.
Clock?
Thanks, so far everything I have heard about this company is good.
You are right on the clock - you don't HAVE to sm
log off for everything; that's your own choice. But I do because I like to get a higher line count. If you are worried about how many hours it may take you to get in your time, simply put some time limits on yourself and GET YOUR WORK DONE in that time frame.
We don't clock in/out. If you are away for more
than 15 minutes you need to change your IM status to show you are away. I answer the phone, door, get coffee, walk the dog, etc. and I don't change my IM status.
You are signed on by the fact that you download work, other than that there is no signing in and out, no clock.
Time clock
I just recently started with them and so far it has not been a problem for me at all. I have kids as well and was worried about that too. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions.
better a desk clock
than a time bomb attached to aforesaid desk clock or even worse a pound of headcheese.
what about the weird clock
the clock they sent for MT week, that cracked me up. Makes me dizzy to look at it, how does that help? Agree 100% about ASR.
You are supposed to clock in and out sm
In order to get any bonus money, which is paid according to Lines Per Hour (LPH), you NEED to clock in and out for everything. It makes for a very long day, turning 8 hours into sometimes 10 or even more. I don't clock out to look up words or to go to the bathroom but do clock out for anything longer than 15 minutes. I think PTO starts from day one.
PTO/time clock
PTO is lower than average per pay period. Clocking in and out is a pain. It does take a long time to get in your 8 hours. Nice people. Lots of ESL.
you don't have to clock out but it helps sm
as far as your lph (lines per hour) rate for bonus money. You finish a job, when you release it, you are asked if you want to release this job yes or no and there is a box that says do you want to clock out. If you want to clock out at that time you put an x in that box and release your job and you get clocked out.
No time clock
You just enter in your line counts each day on the employee intranet and submit them at the end of the pay period. I don't really even have a set schedule, but I tend to work afternoons and evenings. I have 2 ER accounts and bounce between the 2 and make excellent lines. My accounts are both internet-based, so I don't have to have unlimited long distance service. I couldn't imagine working someplace where you had to punch a time clock! That would drive me crazy!
TT time clock
No time clock, but have to keep schedule. Not extremely strict, flexible.
time clock
We do not have to punch a time clock at DeVenture. That is why I accepted a position with them.
Same here. It's like clock-work...
at the end of the pay period. Problem is, first day and a half I'm out of work too so I start out bad and end up bad. Three accounts but you'd never know it. Stayed up till 1 a.m. and got up at 5 a.m. today to get a jump on things and was out by 5:41 a.m. I'm over it and looking elsewhere. Can't live on this.
me too! esp after going through MQ w/t.clock lunacy..
x
ICs don't have to punch a clock, do they?
x
I don't clock out for just a bathroom break or to
get coffee, but the bathroom and the coffee pot are only about 10 and 2 steps away respectively.
Other companies with time clock? Thanks. nm
? re WebMedX time clock, please. sm
Are they picky that you must punch in to the minute you are scheduled, or are they flexible that they just want you to punch in when you work, not necessarily to the minute of your schedule?
I'm not sure I can go back to a time clock either. I don't have a problem punching when I work, I just have a problem sticking to a very specfic schedule.
Webmedx Time clock
Is the Time Clock for Webmedx really all that bad? They seem good otherwise - just concerned about working at home w/toddler on that type of strict time clock...
Well that is just silly, unless you are getting round the clock pay.
And I highly doubt that. I was a recruiter, doesn't pay all that great.
TransTech - do they punch a clock? (sm)
or how rigid is their scheduling?
As long as it's not a desk clock...
I got that from my (ex) company for Christmas one year. Stupidest gift ever.
When I worked in an office, we played games with prizes and ordered in lunch each day, but since I've been at home, I've appreciated gift cards.
I got a very pretty handmade card one year with a gift card and I really appreciated that.
Webmedx ??- Time Clock/PTO
I thought I read somewhere that at Webmedx you have to punch in and out for such things as looking up a medical term or using the restroom; is this the case? Also, I know they get 6 holidays, but is there any vacation time or sick time during the first year or 2? Any info appreciated as it sounds like a great place. THANKS!
Does Wedmedx have a time clock? nm
