Platform very easy and quick - easy to get used to. :)
.
So easy to say, so hard to do. If you were going to do
it, you would have already. It is so much easier to bash companies and service owners than to do it yourself. Just like armchair quarterbacks. If you had the time and talent to do it better yourself, wouldn't you?
It's hard to get 10 cents these days
Most likely, the offer is 8 cents, and 70% of 8 cents is 5.6 cents. Still crummy, but that is only IF they will give you 70% for VR.
Glad you Webbers are getting something halfway decent.
I usually do it the hard way too, but I learn the easy
way in the process usually. We have to remember that computers are only machines - LOL.
I make 4 cents a line, work part and make
over $500 a week on part.
Anyone use TimeTrax as a time clock? Easy, hard,
s
Bait and switch? Hard dictators? Easy accounts?
Lets be reasonable here.
I see complaints because we get put on a difficult account when you know there are easier ones out there. I see complaints because when you start working for a new company you are put on an easy account and then switched to a more difficult account.
Face it. Every company has hard accounts along with the easier accounts. What should these companies do? Start you out on the worst accounts so you cannot possibly get your line counts when you are starting and as nervous as a shaky leaf? Start you on an easy account until you lose your fear and have passed QA to ensure you know the basics of transcription? (That is what you are calling bait and switch.)
I just do not think these companies can win. They certainly cannot meet your demands of easy accounts, especially those who are just starting for them and think you should get the cream of the crop. Are they supposed to penalize their long term MLS and give them all the hard work just to accommodate your every wish? Is this how you would want to be treated if you had worked for a company for 5+ years? I don't think so.
7 Cents can be good - it all depends how the line is calculated - sm
I see posting all the time saying don't accept 7 cents a line that we are worth at least 9 cents or more. Well it all depends how the line is calculated. These national companies usually pay character with or without spaces and some of them have their own counting software where you just have to go with what they say and can't actually verify what is really being counted. With that said you can be paid 7 cents a line counting Keystrokes (bolding, underline, etc - example the word paid is four characters but if you bold it then it is 8 characters and if you underline too then it is 12 characters) which would usually equal around 9-10 cents or more a line depending on the format of the document. So it is very misleading when some transcriptionists say 7 cents is insulting when actually it is good if you are getting keystrokes with Abacus and you can actually verify it yourself to make sure the company is paying for all the headers, footers, template, shifts, tabs, spaces, returns, bolding, italic, underling, caps, etc. You really have to investigate how the line is calculated to be able to compare. So to all you people that keep saying don't accept it....I bet the ones that have are actually getting paid more than you in the long run!
Easy platform...sm
Basically, I have several accounts that I work on, but for the most part all that you have to enter in is the patient's name, DOB, DOS...the rest is usually filled in for you, click Enter or something like that, one button, and then it sends you to the report...when you are finished with that, you just click one button, check mark for QA or not, and send it through..SIMPLE and GREAT platform...not difficult at all...
The platform is NOT easy to use, sm
They do bother you and I just was not treated the way I expected to be. I am happy you are happy with them but it did not work that way for me!!!!
Very easy platform, but I won't say it can't be tweaked a certain way. Don't think anything
s
Tell us more about why you like it. Benefits? PTO? Easy Platform?

Their platform is easy to learn...
Softscript's work interface is three-fold: a proprietary report client which downloads, uploads, and retrieves ADT; an audio player in the background; and MS Word which automatically opens the report for you--all you do in Word is type and save. I don't see why Instant Text wouldn't work; MS Word itself has a similar auto-replace function as well.
The platform is Scribe. EASY to learn and use.
The line count is straight 65 characters with spaces and you can see your count which is important to me.
Today is supposed to be my day off. I needed to do a bunch of errands and catch up and do closets. So far, it's almost 10:30 and I have been on here all morning! I need to scoot!
very easy to learn - good platform
I have worked on a few different platforms and this one works well. Very explicit account specifics as well so it makes it much easier to do your job.
Anyone know of a company that uses a very easy platform with templates...
and lots of fill in the blanks? I am trying to find part-time work that doesn't require a whole lot of typing because I have pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome. I still have several months of pregnancy left and I still need to work, so my only option is to find work that requires a lot less typing! I am just happy that this CTS is usually only temporary! I do wear wrist splints and take frequent breaks during my shift but this provides little relief. If you know of companies that use easy platforms with templates, fill in the blanks, cut and paste, etc - please let me know! Thanks in Advance!
What kind of platform does Diskriter use? Is it easy
nm
Platform is fairly easy to learn, pay is
low/average, trainers/supervisor are helpful (at least the ones I've dealt with have been), bennies 35+ weeks.
Platform super easy to learn
I had heard horror stories about SoftScript before I accepted the job (realized you can't believe everything and took a chance). I gave them a shot and have been thrilled. The platform is super easy compared to some of the other Nationals I have worked for. Pay is a about 8 cpl, but that seems standard for Nationals. Tons of work.
I would recommend SoftScript to anyone and I have worked for the worst, MQ, Transcend, Medsribe, etc.
Where can I make 10 cents plus sm
I know what you are saying. Where can a fabulous MT make 10 plus cents a line? No editing required.
Platform is easy to use, and the people are great to work with. sm
I only work there part-time, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Good luck on whatever you decide.
The platform is super easy and user friendly. I have never had sm
any problems getting my lines...plus!
I currently make 3.0 cents per line
and I average about 2400 - 3000 lines per day.
Your 2 cents is more than Shapin QA make. nm
x
I make 9 cents per line. I am not
on an account with VR. Regarding the platform, there are several. Do you have one in particular?
I make that on an easy rad account
NM
Golden Isle..need opinions on their platform. How hard is it ...sm
to make 1000 lines a day?
Thanks for the help!
Good MT hard to find & 1 familiar with platform is

TT has plenty of work. The platform is super easy to learn and
I'm not having any trouble at all making good line counts doing ESL discharge summaries. Super nice people as well.
if easy platform and few ESLs, you'll do okay with same doctors daily.
nm
Pay always on time, platform is easy, they've always been nice to me, do have several accounts to
avoid running out of work. I do MT and QA.
Pay is good, platform very easy. Got line count within days. (sm)
The people you work with/for are extremely helpful. There is an incentive plan which they will explain to you during interview process. No 401 match - that is a bummer. First year PTO only a few days, but picks up the next year.
Apply and have the recruiter go over it all with you. It is well worth the time.
Good luck.
I agree. I am only part time so far, but I love it. The platform is easy, and sm
the people are great. I feel very fortunate to have stumbled onto them.
Why make us hard working MTs have to .....sm
deal with that every day. I love this board and it is very unfortunate you do not have to register yourself here. I am sure you would not be posting all the garbage that you do. You would have to actually stand behind what you post.
Hard to make lines
xxxx
hard to make money
One account has a rotten platform that doesn't work half the time and has a long record of miscounting lines. Just about everything is 100% listen which makes it even harder to make money by the line. Big turnover in account managers lately so expect to work for phone clerks and HR clerks who have been promoted to account manager (cheaper that way) and people who have no acute care experience whatsoever. You've probably already been told there is no holiday pay, the vacation time sucks, and the insurance is horrible. If you just need editing experience to move on, that that's the place.
YES...a ton of them, hard to make production..nm

Reply to how hard to make 900.00
Not hard at all. We constantly train on proficiency in editing. Tips/tricks to go faster, leave your hand so the keyboard, etc. It's really great - I am always amazed at how quickly the recognizer picks things up. We also have just typing platforms still with no editing. Most people become very proficient with it quickly.
How can you possibly make any $$ for 2 cents per line???
Am I missing something??
rates 6.5 to 7 cents .NEVER make more at Jack-in-Box
I emailed first (as is my thing prior to spending time testing) They did email back after I asked for the lowest to highest rate offered for the position.
email response below
Hi there,
We pay $0.065 to 0.007 starting depending upon experience. Some
companies pay various amounts per line, but it also is important to see
what their line consists of. We pay based on a 65 character line count.
Thanks!

EASY to make line count!
My experience was the opposite. I routinely did 1600-2000 lines a day, WAY over minimum of about 1200 lines a day. I can't make that now in my current job, but at Spheris it was easy. It does depend on the accounts you're assigned, though, so I don't doubt that it COULD be hard to make line count at Spheris. Just depends.
Unbelievable! So you have an easy account and make a
decent living, yet you come on this board and trash TT all the time! That really is two-faced. You don't deserve to work for TT!
Depends on which platform
Some are on ChartMatrix which I believe is okay. I am on another which is awful. Mine was supposed to get changed over to ChartMatrix a few weeks ago, but hasn't. I've tried asking when this is going to happen, but no one answers. Feel like I've been duped. Liked them, but feel used and stuck on this archaic system with no light at the end of the tunnel, when I was promised it was a short term platform for this account.
Depends on which platform you are using..sm
Merit is a propietary platform and you have to build you glossary...can't copy it over. Not sure about ExText.
It depends...which platform are you on? nm
x
all depends on what platform you are used to
I like certain things about Bayscribe, find other things irritating and counter-productive. I have worked on several different platforms with different companies. Bayscribe is better than some, pretty straightforward (especially if you are coming from DOS), but I've worked on better.
depends on the platform used,
I made more at 6.5 because of a simple easy platform I worked on. At 9.5, everything needed to be filled in, slowed me down. cpl does not matter until you know what platform you're working on.
Depends on platform
They are all different. Some platforms you may be able to type 170-200 lph but then your line rate is probably going to be adjusted accordingly. Other platforms such as Extext, you are lucky to do around 130 lph comfortably. DocQScribe maybe 120 lph. Lines are very hard to make these days, they just keep skimping away those lines that we used to get credit for, headers, footers, sometimes even spaces, and don't forget those unseen commands on a page, they have stripped those. Hospitals got wise to this, companies had to make adjustments and passed this on to the MTs. Its very hard to get a decent line count and this is why a lot of MTs are working more than one job. Most of us don't make anymore than $12 to $14 per hour. I guess to a new MT graduate this must be great money, beats minimum wage. But, they will not be seeing any big money like we saw years ago, its a thing of the past.
depends on which platform nm
