i realize that these boards are personal experiences but i think it is grossly unfair that frustrated and out of work MTs use these sites to maliciously and inappropriately malign services. I am not speaking for just mine, but I note many services are the brunt of vicious and specious comments. It's a shame that MTs and/or editors that are let go because of incompetenece and poor work ethics find the time to malign people and businesses instead of productively working.

Midtown Manhattan - general transcription company.
Escribe - now don't quote me, but I believe they offshore. If it is the company I'm thinking of in Florida, I believe they offshore. They charge a ridiculously low line rate, so unless they are finding transcriptionists in the back woods for a low rate, then they are offshoring (yes, that is sarcasm).
ESCRIBE
FYI: There is no such company as Escribe in Midtown Manhattan. Just one in Florida.

They have a typing center in India, but they also have American typists, proofers, and in office Q.A. personnel.
I know that ESCRIBE is not in NYC - I said Florida.
But Compuscribe used to be in NYC. It maynot even be the same Compuscribe.

I have an in-house interview tomorrow - anyone heard of or worked for this company? I have been an in-house Transcriptionist making an hourly wage - so this work at home thing is new to me - I don't know anything about what I should accept if I get offered the job - can anyone school me? ha ha I don't want to get screwed, but I don't know what the average is for pay, lines per day/week, etc. It's like a foreign language. Also I don't want to take the job to work at home and spend a lot of time doing it and make no money.
