Thursdays and Fridays. It is an internet-based account and a good one but I have enough work on my primary.

Don't think there was one. And they really wanted you to NOT work the weekends, too, unless you
s
Was asked when hired, told them I wanted M-F...
and fortunately for me, they had M-F accounts that were a good fit for me. I've only been there 2 months but feel like I've landed in a good spot!
It will pick up. My account is 2 hours behind me timewise, so I figure sm

everyone is still waking up out there.  It usually picks up in the afternoon and evenings, which is when I usually work anyway.  If you are truly concerned, maybe you should call the office.  They do care and will try to help.

Good luck!

It depends on the account. I do not work weekends. nm

Yes, you have to go there to pick up their loaded CPU. Pay wasn't that good, either. nm

Your message is too mixed. Either you want to know the good, or you want to know the negative. Pick
one topic and maybe you'll get more informative responses. Otherwise, you're just setting the stage for more battle by your wording, and everyone is just tired of fighting right now.
No, but I saw the ad - 12 cpl for weekends. Sounds good.
x
Have you asked for backup account? I have
ALWAYS had work.  It is slower now, probably because of new hires, but we've been busting *ss for 4 months+ now and I'm enjoying a slack time.  I'm still getting my lines and often get extra.
Have you asked to be put on an additional account? nm

I did not name an account. I asked if she worked for the (SM)
BG (Bowling Green) BRANCH OF MEDQUIST before it closed.
Transform, are they any good for weekends and evenings?

nm

They try to stay in TAT, even on weekends (as they should) Good company.
nm
I too have asked for a different account as mine of 3 years..sm
has now consistently been out of work...as well as my secondary! Up until recently I never even had time to do my secondary as my primary had tons of work but suddenly neither have. I have emailed Dorothy and indicated I needed more only to be told things will pick up. This is not a holiday thing as it has been happening for months now. I am looking for at least another part-time job which may turn into full time. I think we are getting the run-around and they have over hired and want to keep it that way so the reports are running a few minutes behind the dictators. Also, now that they have over hired they probably don't care too much if some of us have to leave! Bad situation for what was a great company.
Have you contacted your account supervisor and asked about being put onto...sm
an additional account?
What?? they have asked you to work the account but never told you how much your pay is??
Sounds strange to me.. They would make me nervous as that should be the first thing they discuss.. or at least that is what I would want to know right off before I wasted my time with them.
Have asked several times for a back up account.
I'm still waiting....
Are there any GOOD companies that offer IC status (and no weekends?) ??

I would really like to work a Monday through Friday job.  Plus, I prefer IC status.   Probably an impossible combo...

Thanks!

If you are very good, the company accommodates you so you don't work weekends
nm
I've asked repeatedly for a secondary account. nm

I dont cherry pick, never did. I dont do that to my coworkers on my account.

Good grief. Why can't these companies hire PTers for weekends.
x
not likely do any good to apply, she is PT & wanted FT nm

Has anyone ever found out their account went overseas and were you asked to proof it. Just curious
since it seems like a lot of them are sailing across the ocean.
Have you asked your supervisors why no work? Which account are you on? You can email me privately if
you want..
Maybe you asked the wrong person. I am sure that not everyone is privy to all account information.
I know that there are at least 2 more in the works, being converted over. How do I know? I am the lead on one of them and have been involved with the conversion for the past 3 weeks.

The only people who know would be KB, LT and PG for sure as they handle sales and operations.
I just wanted to pass on my good news.
About six months ago, I quit the big national company that I worked for for 5 years and took a position as an IC. I am amazed that there is life after working for a national. I cannot stop smiling. I am happier, which makes my home life happier. My children are smiling again and we are enjoying each other.

Thanks for letting me share my good news and to all the unhappy MTs out there, I hope soon you will be happy once again.

Anyone hire on with MQ recently that feels it's a good fit? Getting the pay you wanted? nm
,
* cents not good any shift for the expertise wanted

say you do 1000 lines a day, that is 125 lines an hour x 8 hours (take longer make less an hour)

1000 X 8= 10 bucks an hour,$ 80 per day

pretty cheap for the skill, speed and accuracy they expect.

I made that working for a national...O/T, weekends...no live, now no O/T or weekends(sm)
so no more big bucks, at least from them...looking for second job to make ends meet, don't have husband to help...this sucks.
Personally, DSG is a good fit for me. Pay is good and on time, sound quality depends on the account
and I like the platform. There is not much weekend work, although sometimes is available.  I get along well with the management, no major complaints.  There is pay incentive once you get over a certain number of lines in a pay period.  I work as an IC, so can't help with benefits, insurance questions, etc.
Or maybe it has to do with timing and needing MTs and
paying what it takes to get them.  You have to remember to that I am an SE so I have to pay my own taxes and also in order to get 10 cents per line, I had to be full time.  Part time I think started out at 7.5 cents per line.
Part timing
What about those who can produce many lines just part time would those kind of people be considered? I don't have to particularly work an entire 8 hours to do a lot of lines.
I think it was experience and timing sm
I know that I was told that resumes like mine don't come across her desk very often and I have heard that before. She talked to me and asked me a few questions. She seemed to like my answers.

Given that I have been there only this week, am on the new big account everyone is talking about, and have a secondary that I worked all day (one as good as another to me), I have been off QA on the one since my second day and off QA on my secondary after just today AND I have met my production quota...it was validation for the recruiter.

Someone said to quit bragging or making others think it is all so easy. I have many years of experience in just everything there is. I don't generally check my work for anything other than spelling and I am fairly fast on top of that. It has NOT all been so easy!!!!! I have worked extremely hard to get to this point. It has literally been blood, sweat and tears.

The other thing here is that Transtech is the very best company I have ever worked for. This says a lot because I have worked for about 50 different ones, including several large nationals, in my time. The QA people are not only not judgmental, they are endearingly kind and thoughtful. It is like working in a family atmosphere. When you have that kind of pleasure in your work, when the very work itself is pleasant and plentiful, it makes you want to excel...and you will. I certainly did.

I hope I never have to work anywhere else.
Bad timing for this question
Acusis has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth right now. After having cut Editor wages, they reassured transcriptionists that it was not happening to them, only to turn around and cut MT pay by roughly 10%. The typable work is either offshored or VR, so you are left with the crud. The range seems to run around 7-9 cents a line depending on the difficulty level of the account, but you really work for that 9 cents and they lowered the level for some of what had previously been among their difficult accounts.

Work seems to run out on Sunday and Monday, occasionally stretching into mid week during daylight hours, but other than that, it's usually pretty good, although, obviously, if they're hiring more people that may change.

Most of the people are decent in the chain of command until you get up to the parrot level. Tech support is, of course, not in Omaha. They have been in the midst of rolling out new upgrades to their platform seemingly weekly, each of which seems to screw my computer up a little bit more and more. The platform was originally simple, but it seems like with each upgrade, it becomes a little less user friendly. A lot of their upgrades and mandates seem designed to get a foot into my computer's inner workings, and while I understand their need for at least some knowledge of what goes on inside my CPU, others have felt a bit intrusive. There are benefits, but I've never been able to afford them so I can't tell you if they're any good or not.

Anyway, except for being big fat ninny-ninny liars, I don't suppose they're much worse than anyone else. Enter at your own risk!
I never got an email back when I asked if they were hiring. Good luck! nm

I know this question is asked a million times but who is good to work for
anymore?  I have 13 years experience and I work at a hospital part time but I know I can make more on production plus I need the flexibility because I have osteo in my back and other health problems that require me to kind of break it up if you know what I mean.  I'd only like to work 4 to 6 hours a day, make a decent line rate, and have flexibility of having a span of time within which to get my lines done.  I don't need benefits but do not like IC status; I prefer statutory.  Any ideas?
I guess the only thing I can think of is maybe the timing...
They offered a 1500 sign on bonus when I took the position so maybe they were needing more help.  I don't know, I can see some people are getting upset about this post, so maybe I shouldn't have tried to be so upbeat about my job.
doesn't anyone else here think the timing of this post is
.
Have been timing off system and checking back in every so often (sm)
so I don't show too many hours on. Used to work for Medquist and their time clock made you paranoid about things like this.
I don't think it'd work just to unionize here. Timing's wrong. SM
Actually, the phrase Pissing into the wind, comes to mind. Once the folks offshore competing for the same work unionize, then maybe. (Did you notice that successful unions are for lines of work that can't be sent offshore? Inability to replace workers is key.) And once EMRs come into widespread use here in the States and a new workforce has transitioned around them, maybe. Being an optimist, I also like to think that countries with new growing middle classes will start producing, not only more demand for middle class wages, but plenty of local work too generated from people who will also get to benefit from this amazing medical revolution we're all part of. In the meantime, identifying and training for a position in the medical information field or another that will/should have decent-paying work in the future would be a good idea for any of us. Anyway, that's what I think.
It's more than having a good account
It's the company, too. Allegiant is a darn good company. The owners understand our woes. They're transcriptionists, too. They're a young company trying hard to build a good reputation. They can't pay like the big companies do because they themselves aren't paid that well for the accounts that they have. But I can tell you that they APPRECIATE the transcriptionists who work for them. It means a lot to be appreciated.
if it's a good account and (sm)
you find it interesting, then take it. Pay isn't always everything! :)
A lot of it depends on the account, but a good

It is like a Word-based program, but a lot of the functions from Word were not incorporated into BT.  If you have to change large blocks of text, once you highlight it either takes an extremely LONG time for the program to work or it will just freeze up altogether, in which case you have to back out and relog entirely.  Imagine doing this on every 3rd report and then you'll have a good idea of what it is like on some accounts.

On some accounts the sound quality is so poor it is either all crackles or volume so low you can barely make out a word.  If you're a person who likes to use the keyboard more than the mouse, it has very few function keys and you can't program your keyboard for your own hotkeys.  Autocorrect does not work with it and most Expander programs do not work with it either.

On my computer we had to reload the whole program several times because they figured it was just a bad download.  So even if you get an account that some people have no problems with, it's hard to tell what the precipitating factor is that will make it freeze up or not work well with other computers.  There is really no rhyme or reason as to why it works well for some and why it doesn't for others.  That's why tech support is having such a hard time.  They don't know the total ins and outs of the software because they didn't develop it.  It was developed by a company called M-Modal and so whenever there is a problem that tech support can't handle, they have to contact M-Modal.  The problem could be hours or days before corrected.  And there is no downtime.  The loss is YOUR loss, not the company's.  It is by far the worst program I have ever worked with in my 15+ years in MT.

Only 1 account on escription is good
IF you can get the escription account starts with P it is decent lines. all the other accounts are crappy... LOTS of corrections for the substandard line rate you are paid of 3-4 cpl
When they called me and I asked them if they offshored, they asked me why that was my business!

Good account, clunky software

Umph!!!  I found a job with great accounts, but their software is clunky, hard to manuever, and hard to make line count with.  Several times a day, I have to log out and log back in because the software freezes up.  No one in the tech department can do anything or unwilling to do anything.  I love this account, but it is virtually impossible to make any money.  I asked the tech department to at least work with me and my own macros and they never did.  They just told me I could not use my own macros without even trying to convert my IT.   Have anyone else had good accounts with clear dictators, but have the worst software program to work in.  What on earth am I going to do now!!!!!

25% sounds good to me too. I put it in my regular account, but I write it somewhere else so I don&#
x
MDI is a good place to work. Depending on what account you get.... see msg
Some accounts are slightly overstaffed and there is less work but I know other accounts are swamped. Their benefits are comparable to other companies. Line count is reasonable and I like working there. The staff is really nice. Just like every company, what works for someone else may not work for you etc.. so go with your best judgement. They have been good to me so that is all I can speak for. Can I ask who else has offered you a job??
Yes. I wouldn't classify them as good or bad. Pay was okay. Account I was on was okay. Didn&#
like my supervisor very much.  She was kind of disorganized and didn't really communicate all that effectively.  All in all, pretty comparable to other places I've worked.  There was a problem with running out of work and when you are an employee instead of IC you are expected to sit there and keep checking for work during your shift which kind of sucked cause you didn't get paid for basically being on-call.
Overall it is a good company. Your paycheck, however, depends on the account SM
you have, and your level. I am currently a level 8 with a high number of ESLs. I like Spheris the company though, but dislike my account.
