Your line rate depends on what acct you are hired for - sm

the difficulty of the acct dictates your line rate; PT vs FT doesn't really matter. Acute care varies from 8-9.5 CPL, plus production (bonus) incentives and shift differential.

When you first start, 100% of your work goes to QA until you are released on that acct. Afterwards it seems to depend on the acct as to how often you are reviewed. 98% or above is required but there is a detailed policy about mentoring, etc, posted for us to review.

Yes, you have access to older reports by doctor or by patient in real-time, as well as samples posted for reference on the community page.

I think it depends on experience, account hired for, etc. I was hired at .08 per line sm
but after 90 days went to 0.085 and then 0.09 about 90 days after that. I am now at 0.0925 and have been there a year. I have to point out that the line rate might not be the highest but I can verify my counts, have plenty of work, get paid on time and have a great manager. To me, leaving a bad national and the headaches that went with it was well worth the cut in pay I took. Funny thing is that I took a pretty sizable pay cut but make more money ?!?!
Of course, depends on your line rate, but $700.00 is very good for MT right now. I can make over
that if the work is available, and I put in more than 40 hours.  I think to make $1000.00 you need to have lots of expansions and dictators with which you are familiar, IMHO.
Depends on what your line rate is for straight typing.
Plus, if you're a high producer you probably won't be able to double your line count on VR.  If you average about 100 to 125 lines per hour, you should have no trouble doubling that or more.  It might be worth it then.  If you're not getting at least half your line rate for straight typing, it definitely isn't worth it.
That really depends on your acct, even now. nm

Depends on your acct - sm
I have 12-hr window to get in 8 hour shift but I know others on accounts that require stricter schedules. Flex hours are pretty much okay here.
Are you by chance hired for the new acct which begins sm
next week? Aren't you working on the staging platform now (and being paid hourly) until that work goes live?
Don't you think it depends on which acct you are assigned to?
I have a couple accts but don't know if either is the notorious one that supposedly has all the demo screen work. One acct I have is definitely more involved in demos than the other, but overall not so bad. Just wondering if it's a case of which one you are stuck with? Just trying to think of some ideas of why some like it and some hate it. Also depends what you are used to before working for Amphion, since you can't help but compare it.
I think it depends on your primary acct; sm
I've noticed some STMs give more leeway regarding shift windows, and usually it is based on turnaround time for your particular primary account. I think I would approach my STM again and ask more specifically, Why does STM X say this and you say something else? Probably you would get a clearer answer. It never hurts to ask.
12-hr flex for me too; definitely depends on your acct. sm
Average pay, nice bonus structure, good benefits. I like the platform and the people.
Flexibility depends on your acct; some still sm
allow the 10 or 12 hr flex schedule, some accounts do not. It's worth asking.
depends on acct. Some Lanier, some dictaphone, i.e. Transnet nm
s
It depends on which account your on. If you WANT to be on an acct with a C-phone, there is plenty
but, if you like, AND were hired for internet-based, you will be disappointed. Just goes to show that there are two sides to everything. Some people love it and some people hate it.. personally, I have chosen to work for a company that everyone is happy being at and you cannot find one single bad post about them. I have figured out.. that is a for a reason. When you see even one bad post, you should at least look into it further. I thought that people who complained were just ex-disgruntled MTs but soon found out for myself what they were trying to say so I say, go ahead and try it out yourself and decide.
is the VR line rate 60% of the regular typing line rate?
s
My contract (was just recently hired for a new acct coming on) does not list any benefits for part-t
It only gives the requirements (as stated in my previous post) for full-time status for benefits. If they used to offer benefits, they are not offering them to new hires, at least that is my impression.
depends on what account you are hired for..
nm
depends on what account you are hired in for...
I am on an account that is determined by TAT, not set hours.
Their line rate was less than my current nat'l rate, even with mucho experience. nm

VR rate is 1/2 rate of traditional typing,I believe it is 4 cents line.

My rate when I was hired
I was hired at MDI a few months ago at 9 cpl, and I have over 40 years experience. After we are there for a few months, we are supposed to get another review and a raise in cpl, so they don't hire all of us starting out at 11 cpl.
Depends on the account for which you are hired, my accounts are low occasionally but usually with a
couple of backup accounts and doing all work types, you can do fine.
Webmedx ASR rate is 70% of your regular line rate. sm
So if you are on a 9 cpl account, you get 6.3 CPL plus any bonus / incentives / shift differential.
Is the ASR line rate 1/2 of transcription line rate? sm
Reason I ask is that I assume if they have ASR now that eventually all will be ASR except of course for the awful dictators as this seems to be the norm.
But if you're hired at a certain pay rate - sm

per line (8.0, 8.5, 9.0 cpl) you're entitled to receive the agreed-upon line rate for EVERY account you work on - this is construed as a contract, whether oral or written (preferably in writing) - thus enforceable.

What's with this nonsense, different rates for different accounts ???  It's like working at McDonald's and getting paid $8.35 hourly to serve from the breakfast menu and $7.35/hour to serve/sell off the lunch menu.

Depends on the rate
The math either way is pretty easy-- multiply the lines by the rate.

If you're being paid 5 cpl because you're being paid on a 55 char line, you're having your chain pulled :)
Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
They pay for spaces. Rate depends on
test results, shift, and weekend work.   They work from an ExText program which is an easy program.  Right now they are trying to catch up from the hurricane mess because they had to evacuate, but so give them a few days to get their heads above water.
I left MQ for TT. The base line rate was less at TT, but overall I make more per line with the
shift differential (I work second shift) and the incentive plan (I have never once failed to make at least an extra half cent per line on incentives - most of the time a penny). I was scared to death to make that move, as I had been with MQ since back in the Transcriptions Limited days. I have to say, though, that it was the best career move I have ever made and I have never, not once, regretted it.

I hope that was of some help.
If your hired at an hourly rate and you run out of work, then you dont get paid anything??
Just saying, you worked a total of 3 hours one day, ran out of work for two hours, then for that day you only get paid 3 hours? That would suck and it wont pay my bills.
It depends on if this is editing other MT's work or VR. If VR, that is a good rate. nm

Not on the acct I was on. It was solid ESL and atrocius! Couldn't raise my line count after
s
depends on how much they pay per line.
x
Depends. How many characters make up a line?
.
Depends on the length of the gross line. If it's
set as a 65-character length line also (as in same margins, same length), then 8 cpl gross is equivalent to about 10 cpl per 65 characters. But if the gross line margins are set for a really long line, then you might not come out much ahead. Did that make sense?
Were you hired hourly or by the line, employee or IC? just wondering if it makes a difference...
I opted for hourly and wondering if it woudl be better do it by the line. It is hard to know if you do not know the software program or what the transcription is like ESL etc.. Just wondered what your experience has been like.
I lost an acct with MQ, called the hospital and they told me who had the acct. I chose not to go wi

7 Cents can be good - it all depends how the line is calculated - sm

I see posting all the time saying don't accept 7 cents a line that we are worth at least 9 cents or more.  Well it all depends how the line is calculated.  These national companies usually pay character with or without spaces and some of them have their own counting software where you just have to go with what they say and can't actually verify what is really being counted.  With that said you can be paid 7 cents a line counting Keystrokes (bolding, underline, etc - example the word paid is four characters but if you bold it then it is 8 characters and if you underline too then it is 12 characters) which would usually equal around 9-10 cents or more a line depending on the format of the document.  So it is very misleading when some transcriptionists say 7 cents is insulting when actually it is good if you are getting keystrokes with Abacus and you can actually verify it yourself to make sure the company is paying for all the headers, footers, template, shifts, tabs, spaces, returns, bolding, italic, underling, caps, etc.  You really have to investigate how the line is calculated to be able to compare.  So to all you people that keep saying don't accept it....I bet the ones that have are actually getting paid more than you in the long run!

depends on whether you need benefits. If not, go with 9 per 55 character line. more money. nm

Line rate
I was offered 6.5 cpl. How do I calculate gross pay based on that? I'm not sure how many lines I can produce, since I'm still completing a transcription course and this will be my 1st position.
line rate
oh, my gosh -- i've been with them 3 years and am SE with a base rate of 8 cpl, but usually get 8.5 cpl with the 6000 lines minimum. that is just wrong that you've been with them that long and you're making that. have you ever asked for a raise?
How is their line rate? sm
Recently applied but worried they will offer a low line rate to begin. Do you know what their base rate is or does it vary based on test results and years of experience.
If so, do you know the range?

TIA:)
They did tell me the line rate..

Just wanted to hear from people who knew about them or had worked for them as to whether they are a good company to work for.

Well....about the line rate....sm
I was really offered what I felt like is going to be a good account, and this is only going to be part-time for me.  I'm hoping the work itself, i.e., surgery center, will make up for the line rate.  They were very accommodating on the actual amout of time I wanted to work per day, too.  I'm going to give it a try.  I have high hopes - we'll just see!
line pay, rate
these companies say excellent pay.  how do they feel right posting that?
What is their QA line rate?

Line Rate
I talked with a guy from the company today by phone, and according to what he told me, they pay on a tiered basis.  They start at 8 cpl for 10,000 lines and it increases from that point.  I don't remember the exact numbers and amounts after that point, so I won't quote him.  If you don't do 10,000 lines, then the rate is 7.5 cpl.  This is for full-time people on a day shift; the rate for second and third shift is different.  They don't want daytime part-timers, which is what I wanted.  In any event, for a university account I think the rate is on the low side.  I can make 8 cpl transcribing office work.  I'll keep looking.
Sorry. I'm not sure about the line rate but I DO know in this biz...
that line rate is ever based on your years of experience. It's become pretty pathetic. I have over 14 years of experience and was still offered the same as someone with a few years of experience, 7.5 cpl, and of course you will see those paying 6-7 cpl and you will rarely see anymore on an ad where it reads, salary based on experience at least not in this profession anymore. Best wishes if you apply. I hope they offer you something worth your time.
Yes, if you can get a better line rate
Eight cents a line is pitful for an IC. I did the opposite of you and went from a small company to TransTech. I do love working for TT but nothing compares to where I was. The work was wonderful, flexible, 12 cents a line with bonuses and yearly $400 Christmas bonus. I'm sorry I left but that's another story and like I said happy with TT. Do yourself a favor and don't settle for 8 cpl as an IC.
What is their rate per line? - nm
..
Pay is not all line rate! sm

I have been in this a lot of years myself.  I am being paid the same LINE RATE was I was 11 years ago.  I had no benefits, paid my own taxes, supplied my own stuff to work with, including a pedal I had to purchase.

Today, I have health insurance, dental, vision, PTO and holiday pay, plus the company has to pay part of my taxes.  They supplied a pedal at no cost and I rent their computer for next to nothing and it is a lot better than mine anyway.

I used to make $6-$7 and hour 11 years ago and I do more like $30 now, same line rate, but a faster computer, a better Expander and more knowledge. My income last year was 4 times what I made each of my first 3 years when I started a dozen years ago.   I also work fewer hours to accomplish all of this.

Why all the gloom and doom?  Benefits are NOT a gift from the company, we pay the entire premium whether the company takes it out of our paycheck or not.  WE MAKE ALL THE MONEY FOR AN MT COMPANY and we always have.  Benefits are NOT free!!!!  Think about it, my benefits equal about $500 a month that doesn't come out of my paycheck, but it is compensation.  That is 500% MORE compensation that I received 10 yrs ago.  I am keeping a great deal more of the money I help to generate for the company, whether it is in my nice benefits, a paid vacation or in my paycheck.

To me, the picture is rosy and good.  Not only is my income 4 times what it was when I started (that is quadrupled in 11 years), I no longer pay self-employment taxes, I will have my very first paid vacation since I have been an MT and I have health benefits for the first time since being an MT.  I don't have it showing on my pay stub, but I KEEP what is on that stub insteading of working 3 jobs to pay my IC taxes.  If I get sick or need surgery, I don't have to wonder how I'll pay for it, that is a given.  I don't panic if I get sick, I just use my card and see the doctor.  I can have my teeth put into better repair this spring too.

I feel blessed that I have more work than I can do on any given day and I am well compensated and happy.

VR line rate
Try Precyse.  The line rate for VR is somewhere around 0.055 and they have a TON of VR available at the moment.
need better line rate

Is anyone willing to share a good company that pays 12 to 15 cents per line?  I am so tired of having experience and no one wants to pay?  Thanks
