Tell ya what. If you don't like the bashing, don't read the posts. I will continue to speak out about AAMT, because they do not exist for any goal other than to advance themselves. They have done nothing to advocate for this profession. Their style book is expensive, extraneous, loaded with directives that fly in the face of traditional English style and punctuation, and serves no purpose other than to sell its products and services. This profession needs to have college level curriculums of no less than 2 years, perhaps up to 4 years and abandon the AAMT altogether. At least then we have a degree to show for it. AAMT provides NOTHING that they don't charge the MT for. AAMT does not educate, advocate or flatulate without charging money. And while they continue to charge money, they allow the foreign nationals to drive the pay scale down and do nothing to stop the outsourcing that further drives the payscale down. With the wages continuing to go in a downward direction, who has the money for membership to this ratty organization? My money is going to go for my kids, my groceries, my car and my mortgage. We owe AAMT precisely nothing in the way of respect. Since you squawked about a common goal, you yourself don't even know that that might be. I think most of us want this regarded as a profession, and without apology a profession that is somewhat lucrative. Too bad if brainiacs like you think that makes us unreasonable or greedy.
