the original poster just asked a simple frigging question! I used to work at OSi and I know who he/she is referring to. JP was a nice lady, and someone I learned a lot from, and maybe she just wondered if she still worked there.

The ad on job seeker board is a joke. Do not go to this company if you
want recognition and want to be appreciated. They do not know the meaning of the words. Nastiest people I ever worked for, would never work for that pack of thieves again as long as I live. The higher up the ladder you go, the nastier they are.
SO right! People who get paid to bring people on-board -sm
to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.

Many people come to this board to find out
have had with MT companies that they may be checking out or applying to. I personally appreciate any information that I gain from this board and from the experiences - good or bad - of anyone who is kind enough to post that information before other people have a terrible experience with a company like not getting paid, like getting ripped off, like being lied to, or otherwise. I've also found a great transcription job as a direct result of the positive comments made about that company on this very board. If you want everyone to post nothing but positive comments, what is the significance of the Company board?
Who died and left you in charge of being the posting police?
And you trust the people on this board?

There are a lot of angry people on this board, but some of us here
are professionals and it is very difficult to read boards with the amount of unprofessionalism we see on these boards. I think we can expect it from some MTs in our field but when the companies come and act totally unprofessional I believe that is where we should take it that that company will be no different if you work for them.

When we get on this board and complain about our line count at SoftScript we get immediately told to go away. Our lines disappear day by day. Yet, any post for OSi or MQ seems to stay. We are people with legitimate gripes too (not to). Yet, we in turn get told to find a new job while you people continually gripe about your companies stealing from you. Try getting your lines taken away from you on a retrospective day to day basis and see how you like it. At least your lines are still there the next days, ours are not. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO GRIPE TOO.

Its why people complain about negativity on this board
Some people want to think that the people posting negative things here are just malcontents. Sometimes, when a person speaks the truth, half a dozen other folks jump on to say its not the truth and everything is roses and rainbows. Usually the truth is somewhere in the middle. But some people would prefer to believe the sunshine being blown you-know-where by recruiters because they want to think they have lucked into a goldmine. Well, its a crap shoot - maybe you did and maybe you didn't. Each person's truth is going to hit them only after they are working the account. So if she only wants to hear about the rainbows, let her have her fantasy. Reality will come soon enough when she gets no paycheck. Then she can pay her bills with all the rainbows.

attack people by name. In Lee's defense, she has over 200 people working for Keystrokes now and accounts in a lot of different states. As managers, we have started taking on more of the day-to-day and HR and the clerical staff take care of the transcriptionists. It is a hard thing to learn as an entrepreneur but delegating is very important. We are finally seeing her do this, and things are much smoother. One person simply cannot do it all in a company of this size. I wouldn't want to own my own company for that reason. The hours she works would kill me and I would be divorced. The constant travel of this year would cause most people to take days off after each trip, but I have talked to her hours after she got in from a one-day trip for a meeting to sign a contract and while tired, she is still out there making sure that our jobs are secure.
No one was out to get you or to mess up your life. I am sure that there is more to the story than you are saying but I find it hard to believe that you were ignored. I personally talk to each person hired for one of my accounts and make sure that they have all that they need.
If you came during a hectic time and felt you were not treated fairly, on behalf of the company, I apologize. However, and this is not an excuse, with the growth that Keystrokes has experienced, there are bound to be hectic times and bound to be changes. I, for one, am glad that the changes make Keystrokes a better place to work. I hope that someday Keystrokes replaces MQ and Spheris at the top of the national companies and know that if they do not, it is because they refuse to compromise and hurt the transcriptionists.
Life is about choices. Mine has worked well for me. We should all help each other rather than carry around so much negativity.

I was talking to the younger people on this board basically
because I am seeing where people are sitting here actually waiting for work to come in while they don’t have enough money for their bills, no money for food, no money to survive on. Why in the world if you are younger do you beat a dead horse so to speak because this profession is steadily going down as it is and if you don’t have money now, do you think over the next few years it is going to improve? I have worked most of my years in this business away from home. I had children but years ago we were not given the choice of working from home, imagine that! We probably then had more of a family life than what I read on this board now with people saying in order to squeak out a living they are working 24/7. I have probably worked more than most here but when I had jobs outsourced from underneath me I had no option to sit and wait for work to come my way. I went and found more. There is a simple solution but most here just seem to complain and do nothing except go right down the drain.
There are so many hits on the job board for jobs that I wonder if people are qualified that respond
or just send in a resume if they are not. Would be interesting to hear from some of these companies what type of response they are getting.

The reason is that a lot of MT's have had bad experiences EVERYWHERE they go, if you know what I mean. They then bash the most recent company over and over again.
The same few people seem to have worked everywhere and have something bad to say about every company.
Take everything with a grain of salt on here. It is a gossip board.
The only ones to believe the negativity about are those that do not pay or bounce their payroll checks.
The rest? Well, most are decent companies that might not be a good fit for everyone. There is not much difference between all the bigger ones except whether they send work offshore or not. Otherwise, rates are similar, benefits are similar, work load is similar.

With this economic crisis that the entire world is under, we still have jobs that are fairly secure. We have jobs that pay more than minimum wage. We have benefits, unless IC status. We have good work environments, do not have the risk of losing an arm, leg or life in a piece of machinary or being blown up in a mine.
Yes, there are companies that do not pay. Yes, there are companies that do not pay more than 6 cpl, but we have a CHOICE on who to work for. Don't work for them. There are plenty of good companies that treat their employees well.
Christmas bonus? My husband was laid off last week from a job he has had for 27 years. That was his bonus.
Unemployment is at record highs, prices are at record highs and it does not seem to have an end in sight for many years.
Perhaps a depression would show Americans that nothing is free and people would stop standing with their hands out all the time.
As a society, we have come to expect everything to be handed to us. As a transcription professional, it is disheartening to see all the angry, bitter, hateful posts here all the time.
Transcription companies face the same rising costs as every other company out there and I am sure they feel the crunch too, but they are not telling this every second like other industries.
I am not an MTSO, not a manager, not a troll. I am just an MT who is grateful for her job and skills that will allow her family to survive this crisis without scars.

we all know better, but you're entitled to your opinion. You're the one insulting saying those of us who don't like SS probably couldn't cut it and that is the reason for our complaints. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who ever worked for SS to agree with you about how wonderful they are. They aren't getting new accounts, yet they always have an ad running - umm, let me think why that is.

There software is the worst around! It is not MT friendly, very slow and locks up almost every day. Supervisor is clueless.

It was an unpleasant experience. The recruiter is nice but does what she can to get people to come on board. If you ever have a problem, she will be right there to solve it. She will never set you up. She will always be there, so call. Believe this? I gotta bridge for ya to buy.

They said I was hired. Then they sent me a file that said testing for $ to determine my rate of pay. When I opened it, it played the song Bridge Over Trouble Waters. What a complete and utter waste of time dealing with them!! Unprofessional.

I have 6 years experience in radiology just recently started with a company at 8.5. I told a friend of mine to apply as she was familiar with the platform (2 years), but NO experience with radiology. They hired her a 8.25!

I was not the one who called it flavor of the month, I just asked for the website. Thank you for your information. I am weary about the nationals. I am losing my job in April after working from home for a a hospital for 9 years, due to Voice Recog in my radiology dept. I do not want to work AT a hospital, so what choice do I have to start researching these national companies. Talk about a headache. So many negative people out there on this board, I can't find anything positive about any company hardly. I mean, come on, are there any good nationals out there? Not by the sounds of the people on this website! You can email me if you would like. I would like to get the FACTS!

Turned them down for an acute care job that they were practically begging someone to take (and STILL are) then months later I took the ortho test and they told me I flunked. Yeah, I'll bet. BTW, they never recognize you from previous resume submissions. If they would look through their old apps, they would see potential MTs instead of going through ad after ad for new ones.
The joke is on OSI.
I know 2 team leads who do the same thing, when one is on her scheduled shift at OSi she will put her OPN status as away but she will be actively working on another job. I know this because I have 2 computers- one for each job. I obviously can't type on 2 accounts at the same time but I have worked at OSI on my scheduled shift and she was scheduled too at the same time but she was sending IM's and emails on the other computer at the same time that she had her away OPN sign turned on. The joke is on OSI. They would have a fit if they ever caught them. At least 2 team leads do that which I am aware of and I also know about the manager with the 3 jobs.
Sorry this post turned into an OSI post but they have so much crap going on at their company its hard to avoid it.

I do QA, too, and that's one of my biggest complaints! There are tons of search engines and I can't figure out why some MTs can't use them! And the thing with the punctuation, that's another issue, especially since the company I work for outsources to India - they just type it exactly like it's being said, whether it's correct grammar or not - like they know!

Unfortunately, there are some MTs who have to figure out how to make a living on half the CPL and only a promise that the platform will be better/faster.

They just lost a major account. Actually it's not that bad if you don't mind constant negative, nagging, threatening global emails about things that don't even pertain to you, and if you don't mind using your own equipment that they get into with PCAnywhere to install their software and freeware which also spawns junk mail and spam. Oh, and if you don't mind footing the bill to call long distance to attend their training.

There is obviously a disgruntled ex-employee posting things here. The training period is not 2 weeks, it is 90 days FT, 180 days PT. They do not let you go because you can't meet line count. There are at least 20 MTs who did not make line counts last week and they are not being let go, they sent this out in an email to let everyone know they have to keep up their production of 1200 lines per 8 hours. I can't believe the lies being told here. They also do not hire new grads, must have 3 years acute care and believe me you do need it. QA is also excellent and gives feedback and supports MTs to help get up to line count. GET REAL!!!

Why does it always have to be love it or leave it with these corporate sallies? Certainly there is room for liking working for a company, but not being satisfied with everything they do regarding MTs, and promoting decisions geared to keep the employees happy, disagreeing with those that do not.
Tons of MTs might, but could they pass the tests and do the accounts I have done for years? Every management person claims they have trouble finding qualified MTs, and a lot are leaving because they HATE ASR, and do not wish to be turned into underpaid editors.

Are there any companies out there that actually pay their MTs holiday pay? Amphion makes you use your hard-earned, very-slowly-accru, or is there better? Just doesn't seem right. I would think they could pry their wallets open a little bit wider in this respect.

Focus is a joke
I worked for Focus about 3 years ago as an editor. Perhaps they have changed, but back then it was just ridiculous. Very rarely did I get an 8 hour day in. It took me over a month to get my first paycheck. I just couldn't make a living working for them with such an inconsistent work flow. But, like I said, that was 3 years ago, so hopefully they have changed for the better and I wish you luck in your career!
