You need to come out for some daylight.

No one is afraid of VR replacing people. The objection is that you have to work harder to edit a bunch of nonsense spewed out by a computer program, but get paid about half of what you would otherwise be paid for working harder and longer. Those of us who have been here as long or longer that you know that anything that can be discerned by speech recognition can also be programmed into an expander and recalled a lot faster than going in and correcting what the VR program types wrong.
It is not fear of the future, it is being upset because the companies have found a new way to steal from us.

Loosely specifying daylight hours
is a far cry from saying your roofer must clock in at 8, out at 5, take two 15-minute breaks and half an hour for lunch. I like to work evening hours and I contracted on that basis. But the choice of exactly how many and which hours is up to me. This is based on the hours I know I will find enough work (which varies from account to account), and on my personal schedule. If I need to work a morning sometime because I have evening plans, I do not need to get permission to do this, as long as I produce the number of lines I have agreed to for that 24-hour period. Consistently delivering what I have promised is just common courtesy.
