Because people only want specific work types, easy dictators and certain hours...
That is why some people find a shortage of work, while others find an abundance. I cannot believe these last few threads and the vitriole of some of your responses. Any time a company is mentioned, any company, there are always a bunch of negative responses.
Maybe you all should check within yourselves to find out why you do not have enough work.
I happen to work for a company that is being negatively mentioned in these posts, and I am extremely happy. They may offshore, but they treat me very well, are communicative and I have never missed a paycheck. I also will do any work types, ESL, and will help out extra when asked. This is one of my first times on this board and I probably will not be back.
Great place - ExText is easy to learn and user friendly. Good pay. Nice, COMPETENT people.

Yes. It is the bo account. Was okay from the start because I was promised the transfer to ChartMatrix in a couple of weeks. Now, a couple of MONTHS, and whenver I ask about it ... I get no response at all. Archaic system, takes forever, sound quality terrible. Just plain don't like it. Work other places ... much better sound quality. At first, I liked lack of communication, felt like at least I didn't have anyone looking over my shoulder, but once I started asking when it was going to new platform ... all of a sudden, don't hear ANYTHING from ANYONE. It's a shame, I liked them in the office, but not this platform.

you nailed it...recruiters, trainers, everyone wonderful and nice...
until you get thrown to the manager...they (and QA) rule everything, and I can only hope things got better after I left. My first year was heaven, until they were 'taken over' by edix managers...
when I started the attitude was like, (from my first two managers, because they were always changing and leaving), 'what can I do to help make your job better' etc., that went to 'you simply do not matter, you are only here to make us money' like a flip of the switch.
granted, there are many people okay with that; however, I am not one of them. I happen to know my value and am not going to settle.
like most companies, also, they throw at you how so-and-so is making a kazillion lines, now come on you losers so can you...
only you are working on 6 to 8 accounts, and as soon as you work through your accounts and get used to them, you are changed again on yet another, or the work dries up and it is impossible to find anyone to help you find any.
I could get a kazillion lines, too, if I had the easy dictators and normals, but when I left I got 'squeezed' out, bumped, and never even heard the same dictators more than once. I was under 1000 lines/day and begging, literally begging for work...
of course, that is because I spoke up for myself. after the newer managers came in I starting questioning why I was losing my accounts and my lines, and I was told basically the managers have all the power to make or break you.
like I mentioned, you have to judge for yourself. everyone has different values as to what they expect on a job. my opinion, they got way too far away from MTs.

People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check

I worked for SS and some people were very RUDE and I am talking about the editing people in some
instances. It ALL depends on the person, as it does with any company. They paid on time and the lady over me was very nice, but boy the person in QA was mean to EVERYONE!! Never seen anything like it before.
Are people trying to scare people or just tell them what is happening. I am not scared just seeing
that things are changing very rapidly and not for the better for me. If I have no work and need multiple accounts everyone else is in the same boat now arent they that have my accounts. That is how people know what is going on.
Maybe due to the people that manage Amherst. I think MQ would be a lot better off finding new people

at Medquist. I've checked out other companies but I liked MQ the best (I kept working at MQ while testing other companies).

to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.
More people will come into VR because the qualifcations to do MT are not the same. Lots of people w

I would really like to see a truly professional way of talking about a company. I don't care what board you go to, somehow people just do not want to play nice when it comes to talking about people. If those people could learn to be a little more professional and stop posting names to their wrath or anger, then that will be the day I can say I am proud to be in this profession. When I see those types of things, it makes my skin crawl. If it were me being talked about, I would be livid. I certainly understand why the posts were deleted.

Doesn't matter if QT says they are not closing or not selling, it is all in what the account decides what will force the hand. You have one big account, lose one big account, you do the math.

All that you do is hit F6 and it brings up all of the old report. As far as I can tell, they go back about a year.

and have a grand time with it! Try explaining it to the hospitals that want to outsource to certain national companies that don't do a background check on employees or that the threat to take SS# just by when doctors dictate them is easy - can you imagine how easy it is for the offshore companies to do it. If I can do it in the states working for a national company, imagine what the offshore companies can do!

You're right the girl probably didn't have a clue of how poorly she was doing and thats not playing fair. However, training is not easy. Companies don't want to lose people, especially if they're not paying them much, soooo you're stuck being positive positive positive even when the work is horrible, and people tend to get offended at the least little bit of feedback. Its a bit of a squishy position and at times the person training has to go to great lengths to justify their own position. Not easy I assure you. I for one was told I was sending too much feedback, apparently learning how to do things right was not at the top of these MTs list. You cannot completely blame the trainer, but management who lets the MT call the shots.

It's not as easy to do that now as it used to be sm
If you're SE or IC, you can do that, but with most companies going to employee, MT can only work 40 hours and if one can't count on working extra, which goes into overtime and not always offered, it makes having just one job not feasible if MT wants to make X amount of dollars in as much time as it takes her/him.
I wish I could just do one job with OT when offered, but I really need the security of having the PT to get what I need to make ends meet.

I really feel badly for you. Sadly, that's why company has the reputatation it does. They are more concerned about happiness of offshore MTs.
Easy. Take a job anywhere. It will be prn because
there will be no work. They will want you to type prn but demand you live up to a line count and schedule they will not promise work to fill, thus it ends up prn for you, and great for them. Sorry, just the facts. Imagine a company that was honest and actually hired for prn. There's never be anything comparing what it is like for full time or part time these days. JIMHO
Very easy---
go into program files, find ShortHand file, click on that, that is where all the things are. Go to the SPF files, find which one you have your abbreviations in, you had to have named it something (you can check the opened shorthand and look at the tab on the bottom that shows what you use for your abbeviations), copy that file (I use a fast whatchamacall it that you plug in) or you can copy in a separate file until you can copy it to a removeable file, just paste it somewhere, then when you want to copy it to another computer with the Shorthand program on it, just paste it in the shorthand file (like where you copied it from on the other computer). When you open up the Shorthand file, you will have to click on the new shorthand files and add it so it will put a tab at the bottom.

Thats easy for you to say when you are getting offered 8 and 9 cpl. I am just testing and testing and testing and testing and not even getting offered anything. I need work and if I am offered 7 cpl typing for 1 or 2 dictators I will take it because you can still make money at that. I don't mind working 2 jobs because that way you always have something to type.

Nope, you can't go by that. In fact, you can't go by anything but your own experience. Make your wisest decision. Use your gut instincts. That's all any of us can do.
It might help others to answer if you named the companies, but I understand why you can't.
