I have way more years of experience than you, have very high QA ratings, and am very productive, yet no company really cares anymore. I have heard way more times than you can imagine that they have to lower wages to be competitive with the offshore market, so from *their* perspective it HAS hit the wages. When our cost of living falls back to a range that allows us to have a existence that allows less worry (such as India), then I might tend to be a bit more benevolent in my feelings; otherwise, I'm angry and feel cheated out of wages that I feel experienced MTs should be able to expect. Unfortunately, MTs such as yourself who have a blind eye to the realities of the deterioration of the MT field in general (not only wages, but quality too) have not helped the situation. I'm not raising kids, but I wouldn't in this economic situation and sure as heck not on MT wages these days! Maybe you should think about relocating..........
