Should I run while I can still walk?
I took the MQ acute care test and passed. I am a newbie. I graduated from Andrews. I was finally offered a position with MQ. I was thrilled, even though I was told I had to start on clinic accounts only. Let me say again, I passed the acute care test. Now, my first week at MQ, there is no work. I was hired in to do only clinics per my office. Know this is my first full week and I am begging for work. There is no clinic work and I sit for hours waiting for work. When I do get work it is very hard, unclear operative reports, even though I am only allowed clinic work. I have emailed my supervisor, no answer. I emailed her last week also, and last night. I am thinking maybe I should take the other job offer I got and run. Any suggestions.
Run, do not walk...
To a company that will appreciate you. Did they give you a reason WHY you would be making less? I suspect it is because they want to fill their pockets with more of the sweat from YOUR brow. So it is $15 this time and you allow it. What next? Where will you say no - at 18, 20, 25? Go now with your head held high! :-)
Run don't walk :)
however, my *really bad* experience doesn't mean you would have the same situation.
Run, don't walk. There are much better
This company wants total perfection from the employees, then let them do the work with no errors and see how far they get. LOL. Taking lines away for errors is BIG red flag. I'm not perfect, are you?
RUN do not walk away from them!!!

Run...don't walk...from SPi...sm
This company is terrible. They are all about taking money away from their MTs/QAs. They offshore their work....which wouldn't be so bad, but they have accounts that have requested their work be done by USQA, etc...so you know what they do? Train their people over in Coimbatore, Manila, etc., so they can obtain a CMT and then they use them as USQA. How crooked is that? I also know of an assistant lead QA who recently left there and right before she left, she was out due to mental/emotional stress that SPi had placed on her because she was required to work almost double of 80 hours in a 2-week pay period or get let go. They also have issues paying you what you are due when you leave....so, this place has not changed a bit. I'm glad I'm gone as I am sure others that have left are glad they are gone, too.
Not sure where they would walk to since

Run, don't walk!
Nastiest woman I have ever worked for. I quit and she had a fit ... sent me horrible e-mails on and on.
run don't walk
I'm so sorry to hear this. I want to get out of where I am and was interested that MedScribe used ChartNet, an awesome platform. Oh well.. so much for that good idea. Guess I will stick with the sweatshop I'm at now.
Walk in my shoes
I am very small MTSO and it still gets hairy with turn around time. All it takes is for one I/C to say, today I don't want to work -- which they can -- like the one above said, I want to work when I want to and do as much as I want -- and suddenly she decides not to work, well suddenly that leaves 1000 to 3000 lines to be spread around, times that by 2 and what a mess. You cannot control what and how much the docs dictate. I would not hire someone unless they were strictly for overflow without somewhat of a committment whether it be the lines or time that the could do on specific days. Imagine having 15 people with this attitude. Like I said walk in my shoes, it is a balancing act. Too much work, they gripe -- too little they gripe. But someone that wants to work when they want, how much they want could not budget accounts that way. It would be strictly overflow and then if you weren't available when the work was you probably would not stick around nor again would I keep you around. Sure an IC can set their own hours but I expect a certain amount of work done in a certain amount of time to meet my TAT and not be docked because we didn't.
Run, don't walk away from this company.

All I can say is RUN, dont walk
Also a note to future hires, if you get put on the EditScript platform make sure you don't get the team lead who's name is T...wont say name dont want to get banned...but she is terrible.
I can tell you run don't walk from Chronicle

Did you just walk into the end of this conversation? You really
nm
I can't walk at the moment but
I'm definitely gearing up. What burns me the most is that D says she's for the MTs, but where has she been these last few months when MTs have been starving for work? Was she giving it to Transcend then? How long have we been going without work because she was giving it to them? And all along, she's been playing the supportive and caring act. I think she quit caring back in April or May when we got that first shocking State of the Union about VR, cutting pay, etc. It must have been in the works then.
What a complete disappointment. I came to this company because of their loyalty to the MTs and now this. Back to the pavement.
constantly over-hire run don't walk nm

Run, don't walk, away and read the archieves!
Not a good company to work for at all. Psycho management. Very inconsistent and unfair.
Run don't walk away from Fast Chart.
I tested with them--and then I found out they were going to pay 6 cpl for IC work. Not only that, if you don't meet a certain quota, they actually charge you a fee to use their platform! They were rather fuzzy on the topic of whether this fee was waived if the failure to meet quota was THEIR fault, i.e. lack of work....
No experience beyond that; never worked for them, and never will, if that's the best they can do.
It is a very fine line you walk when you agree
to this - and you must be prepared to tell the IRS should you ever be audited (knock on wood) that the schedule you are working is the one you desire to work. I would not commit this to writing - the employer is looking for trouble that way. You need to understand from the companies standpoint they need you to commit to a certain schedule because they need it covered - but I would not go so far as to commit to paper - just tell them you are a professional - you realize they need this coverage - and you will be there for them.
Here is my advice.......RUN, do not walk to the nearest phone book. sm
Look up Legal Aid of whatever city or state you live in. They are a group of lawyers and paralegals that do work for free or sliding scale, etc. They will do all the leg work for you. You supply them with copies of your documentation and any other records you have kept regarding email, snail mail, or phone calls.
The most important thing... when you talk to and deal with these people, document, document, document. Document EVERYTHING
Then go to the Better Business Bureau and let them know what is going on.
Call your state Atty General's office and tell them what is going on and give them copies of any documentation you have.
Then I would quit. I know she probably can't afford to and it is experience she may not be able to get anywhere else, but as the post below said, they aren't going to give her a good reference anyway if they have not responded to her mail and phone calls.
Let us know how it goes. Keep us posted.
We know they get easier after a while; the woman would just like

Truckdriver woman? LOL

You must have seen the ad that has the woman with the child on her lap - sm
That's a joke. All the pictures show the moms with the kids on their laps transcribing away. DOES THIS SEEM REALISTIC TO YOU?? But yet, people fall for it! I have been doing this for 15 years and make $62,000, but I PAID MY DUES AND WORKED MY BUTT OFF to get there. I worked in a hospital with others around me to help me out, when I was confident I left and worked at home, now I'm doing my own thing.
This is hogwash. This woman
took the time to give a thorough interview. She worked with me when I needed help on their website and made herself available by phone as late as midnight when I had a problem with something on the website. Not many recruiters will take the time as this woman has done and I applaud her for that. I also know that she bent over backwards for me answering all my questions. I was referred to her by another applicant who received the same treatment from her that I did. These types of things are the very reason why I do not listen to most of what is said on these boards. I find out for myself but I know the type of treatment I received as well as a fellow MT.
A woman who went crazy
Keep in mind that I am old. Back many decades ago, in the early 70s, I worked in a large teaching hospital and we had just gotten those self-correcting Selective typewriters which at the time were all the rage. One of our MTs, a woman who had never been too stable a person, had had enough of a terrible dictator one day and she stood up, picked up her typewriter (they were heavy!) and threw it against the wall, thereby earning herself a free trip to the psychiatric ward upstairs. That happened 40 or so years ago and I have never forgotten it. On its face it sounds funny, but it was really sad. I wonder whatever happened to her......
So who is? That Parrot woman?
No, it's not the Parrot Woman... SM
If you work at Acusis, the CEO sent you a Christmas card... But if I mention his name, I'll be banned from MTStars (again).
The Parrot Person is VP in charge of... what? wage cuts?
A GROWN woman?
Don't make me laugh! You attacked the OP with tons of gender-based insults about a person YOU know nothing about - only that that person would prefer a schedule that did not REQUIRE every weekend.
You ARE NOT grown, whether you are a woman or a man.
the woman contacted me last year to see if I was -
interested in training for this. It is quite expensive, but yet seemed legitimate. At the time I was already overwhelmed with my own work and accounts and just never got into it. Basically scoping is just learning how to read a stenographer's notes and then you would "transcribe" them. My understanding is that stenographers differ from each other with the way they take "notes" so you would have to adjust to each stenographer.
But some stenographers/court reporters will dictate their notes onto a tape and send them to someone to transcribe.
Geez. Pay the woman if she worked for you. nm

I know who "this woman" is, but who is her lackey? sm
I thought she did it all. Thanks.
Just guessing but it might be the woman who owns KS??
nm
But people here are posting this woman's name!

You did 100s of reports in a day? What are you, wonder woman? nm
LMBO.
He-Man Woman Hater's Club?
ah, old joke.
You-Lose-Ski, Parrot Woman, etc
Mr. You-Lose-Ski is no longer CEO but he is still heavily involved financially in the company. The new CEO rhymes with Slave Driver minus a few letters and is good buddies with You-Lose-Ski and they used to work together - You-Lose-Ski said that in the meeting where he announced he was leaving. Day to day stuff such as pay cuts is handled by Parrot Woman and her counterpart in India whose first name rhymes with Maybe.
To the woman who asked me about Keystrokes... sm
Your email addy didn't work. I keep getting an error message when I try to reply. I can't locate the original post the question was generated from. If you'd like to try and email me again that'd be great.
Neither honey. Just a grown woman
who does her job and doesn't act like a child who doesn't get her way. Hmm, maybe that's why I can get my lines in during a regular 40 hour week and don't have to whine and complain about every single thing that doesn't suit me. This board has become the poor me, feel sorry for me, I hate my company but I have no guts to go somewhere else or learn something new board.
yes, a woman is perceived (esp. by men) how she presents herself...nm

not a major company - woman owned

Sounds like the woman I used to work for. She is not located in -sm
NJ by chance. If so, things will not improve. Start looking for another job ASAP. I know it sucks for you right now but I found another job and I am making more $$ and I have a lot less stress. I too, hated the thought of going through finding another job, liked the accounts I typed and so forth. Good luck to you. I hope you ended up better off down the road.
Sounds like a woman i worked for in Colorado..nm

Truckdriver woman? I worked with her before, she was a great boss to me.

You silly, closed-minded, judgmental woman...
I am part of the MDI/Transcend merger, so if I choose to laugh at the irony of the entire MESS we are ALL involved with, I will.
Who made YOU the LOL police, or did you self-appoint yourself to that all-important position?
Get a grip. You're not the only one stuck in this crisis so climb off of that cross you're dangling from and save a tree, mmmkay???
I'm sure I'll love having YOU as a new co-worker *eye roll*

The woman who outsourced us is benefitting, I am sure. She got a promotion and no doubt a raise.
All for sending us down the river so she wouldn't have to be bothered.
Good luck to you MT-- you are surely a sad woman and I will pray for you dear s/m
If you really think about it, you are not allowed to use contractions in MT so my aprostrophes are not needed. There is no QA patrol on here so your little nitpicking about aprostrophes just goes to show that you have some sort of mental disorder and you really need help.
GOD BLESS YOU DEAR! And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Get some help before you do harm to yourself or someone, please.
I am apparently being stiffed by a woman in Virginia for vacation coverage work I did. sm
I am not sure where I go from from here. She told me that she would pay me for invoices from 06/26 and 07/11 on 07/22 (yesterday). When I emailed her and asked her to verify that she had indeed paid me, she read the email (you can check on AOL) and did not respond. It is only $338, but in my world right now, that is a lot of money to lose. I blame myself because I broke one of my rules by working for someone who did not have direct deposit, and also by waiting for over a month to get my first check. She did pay that one, but I am thinking now it was only because she still needed me to continue working to finish out her vacation coverage.
I suppose I can file a small claims suit, although I thought someone told me that you have to go to that state to file. She's in Virginia and I am in Colorado. I have a friend in that area, so perhaps he could do the preliminary leg work for me for that. I was also going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I thought of contacting her clients to let them know that although she is paid for her services, she does not pay others, but I am not sure if that is legal or not.
I am a bit frustrated -- mad at myself for trusting her -- and scared too because I was counting on the money. Any ideas?
Thanks.
I'm lookin for part-time work (about 3-4 hrs daily) after 13 years of full-time, anyone know of a
company that is hiring flexible part-time? I'm starting a career in real estate but don't want to totally quit transcription, but I think most places require 25 hours a week and I cant work weekends, as real estate sales are the biggest on the weekend with open houses and people off work to shows homes to. If you know of a place I'd sure appreciate the info. Thanks!
