I'm not being nasty. Don't know why people
don't check the archives or even attempt to read posts on the same page and continue to ask the same questions over and over.
Not trying to be nasty to my fellow QT people, but maybe we should THINK that they just need us
to work hard and go above and beyond the call of duty just because it's the right thing to do in this case to get things back in order. That was an honest, heartfelt this morning....why don't we forget about what used to be for right now and just help out. I thnk we'll all be glad in the long run if we do.

Are you kidding me? People who make nasty comments like this with absolutely nothing to back it up are just simply trying to start something. What a nasty, nasty thing to say.
For the person who originally started this post, I personally can't stand doing MT work anymore. My wrists and back are shot and I have found that my ears are much sharper when my body isn't stressed out. I have found in QA my passion and talent and wouldn't trade it for anything. If you are awesome at MTing, maybe what everyone else is saying is worth heeding and you should stay where you are :)
If you leave, they win. Some of these people can get really nasty...sm
especially when you bite back, but if all the nice decent people leave, the nasties win, and we no longer have a place to come and help each other out, blow off some steam, and have a laugh or 2.
It is probably just a few nasty people. They hide like cowards behind name changes, and pop on and off, but if you pay attention to what they say and how they write, you see the pattern and who they are.
There are a couple who are particularly nasty. You just have to either bite them back, kill em with kindess or just totally ignore them. They do it just to push your buttons, so you really should not let them run you off completely. There have been a few times I have let these people get to me, and I swore I would never come back here, but I really like the nice people who are here, and even though I have many years experience, I am a humble person and know I can always learn something. This board can teach you a lot. The helpful people here have provided fantastic web sites and information you just can't find anywhere else.

that would still be questioned. Get a life or at least a job. Obviously you can't hold the ones you get.
nasty/angry/bitter people
they're just voicing their opinion, like you just did. Does that make you nasty, anger, bitter too? I have never gotten a Christmas bonus since I have been a medical transcriptionist/editor, so I don't miss it, but I can certainly understand those who have gotten it in the past being upset about not getting it now.

With this economic crisis that the entire world is under, we still have jobs that are fairly secure. We have jobs that pay more than minimum wage. We have benefits, unless IC status. We have good work environments, do not have the risk of losing an arm, leg or life in a piece of machinary or being blown up in a mine.
Yes, there are companies that do not pay. Yes, there are companies that do not pay more than 6 cpl, but we have a CHOICE on who to work for. Don't work for them. There are plenty of good companies that treat their employees well.
Christmas bonus? My husband was laid off last week from a job he has had for 27 years. That was his bonus.
Unemployment is at record highs, prices are at record highs and it does not seem to have an end in sight for many years.
Perhaps a depression would show Americans that nothing is free and people would stop standing with their hands out all the time.
As a society, we have come to expect everything to be handed to us. As a transcription professional, it is disheartening to see all the angry, bitter, hateful posts here all the time.
Transcription companies face the same rising costs as every other company out there and I am sure they feel the crunch too, but they are not telling this every second like other industries.
I am not an MTSO, not a manager, not a troll. I am just an MT who is grateful for her job and skills that will allow her family to survive this crisis without scars.

My company is 1200 lph. I think 1000 to 1200
lph is the usual range. Mine is straight typing.

We're just trying to find out REALISTICALLY and honestly if there are transcriptionists that have moved or would move to an area for a job and new life.
We're not even getting half rate.
Our company is going totally VR on all accounts and we're going to 3.5 cpl. Adding insult to injury is that the accounts haven't been on VR yet, so we get to train the system. I don't plan on staying long.
But if you're hired at a certain pay rate - sm
per line (8.0, 8.5, 9.0 cpl) you're entitled to receive the agreed-upon line rate for EVERY account you work on - this is construed as a contract, whether oral or written (preferably in writing) - thus enforceable. 
What's with this nonsense, different rates for different accounts ??? It's like working at McDonald's and getting paid $8.35 hourly to serve from the breakfast menu and $7.35/hour to serve/sell off the lunch menu.

To the people at Transcend that had their line rate reduced by 40%, have you checked with any
attorney to see if this is legal. I didnt realize a company could just reduce your income like that with no advanced notice and that be legal. I know I would be checking with someone on the legality of doing that.
There are a lot of people who know more than they're tell us
People in the industry, other than those of us MTs at MQ, seem to have a idea of what is happening. I have heard from several recruiters, what shame, what MQ is doing to their MTs, or I sure hope MQ recovers, we'd hate to lose them since they were so vital to the success of this industry. EVERY interview I've been on, and there have been A LOT, have mentioned MQ and their future in one way or another. That just happened to be the way OSi mentioned it. I DON'T care, but I also didn't ask about it, the recruiter just mentioned it when talking about my employment history, and since I work for MQ, that is why the name even came up, I guess. Also, another reason could be that OSI is in a suburb of Atlanta, Transcend is based in Atlanta and I live in Atlanta. So, maybe it was for that reason - I don't know, I didn't elaborate because I didn't feel it prudent. But, if someone gave me some insight on something with MQ that I could share with my fellow MQ workers here, I would do it. I posted the info, whether true or not, so everyone could have a head's up. Something definitely is going to happen, there's no doubt there throughout the industry, we just don't know what, when or how.

There's never been a month that they couldn't find anything on a particular report of mine to complain about so they said that I put a comma in the wrong place just to have a mistake to document.
No, it IS that they're greedy! These people want
ALL the accounts! At all costs! They think by 'dominating' the industry by taking as many accounts as they can get, that it makes them a better company. But how do they make a profit with those lowball bids? Off the backs of the MT.

they have a horrible platform -- two horrible platforms now, actually -- some lousy dictators, sound quality issues, and the management is very bad when it comes to communication of any sort. Questions go unanswered and issues never get addressed. But they're nice people, for whatever that's worth.

Honestly though, I have only had 2-3 times in the past 2 years where it was like the other day...no work... It did pick up later but I just think it's important not to make someone think we're overloaded with work all the time. That would not be fair to them if they end up with high expectations.

You get for over 1200 lines a day
and this is just MT, ME is different and too complicated. MT gets for over 1200- extra penny, 1301-1450 +0.015 per line, 1451-1550 +0.025 per line and so on. But on DEP what are the chances of this?? I hope good but hear not so good. plus to move up a pair tier from 1 to 2 and so on must pass test and have AVAILABLE POSITION IN HIGHER TIER, must meet work availability and must be manager approved. So just getting better at your job doesn't make you automatically move up.
