Man, that is really getting picky. I would fail that requirement, I'm sure a lot of us would! Sounds like they are TRYING to make it impossible for you to continue with them.

Thank you for proving what I said.
If you're referring to the post I made below about unfair newbie advantange, then I stick by what I say now. If anyone posts ANY experience that might not be a happy one, they will be lumped in with all "naysayers" and accused of starting trouble simply for stating their experience. If you're not referring to my post, then why am I getting the bashing and being called a liar? It seems like you just want me to be content with being called a liar, sit back and shut up, and just take whatever is dished out about me on this board for one reason and one reason only: I aired some dirty laundry. You're defeating your own purpose by showing that if you're going to bully here, you will bully at work too. Definitely not displaying an attitude or atmosphere conducive to enticing new employees.
thank you for proving my point
yes, the problems are the same. I just told you that. The MTs posting on here about their issues are posting the same things as a year or so ago. Same problems, same complaints. Only difference is it's different MTs. Thats all. and to the MTMQ, you must have worked there before to know it so well!!!
Thanks for proving my point.
which is that YOU are being dense on purpose.
You can twist words, insult, and label all you want. Nothing changes the fact that you are HELPING to degrade the industry/lower the standard...
Hey, whatever pays the bills, right?
Thank you for proving me point...
Hey, R.D., I still need my hair done!
Yeah, I was proving a point dumbo.

Thank you for proving my point: Being consistently good has a better chance.....nm

Look at the big picture
I know what you mean. I left a hospital situation because of some of what you describe .. no newbies playing though ;-) You will have no PTO or seniority at home and it is hard to work with family underfoot. Ask to have your place changed and get yourself some of those soundproofing earsets that are available out there so that the noise is muffled and you can block out the rest of the world. I can still get lost in a room full of people if I am concentrating .. a blessing to be sure. You will miss the things you are now taking for granted such as PTO and seeing people .. even some of the ones who drive you nuts. Health benefits are not easily available or very good at home either!

I went to affiliates, but it does not list Medscribe???
You are right to look at the big picture, and
you seem very mature. Unfortunately, a lot of us (at least me) who work at home can get paranoid or feelings hurt even though we are professionals. I was a manager in this biz years ago, and upmost in my mind was that my team supported me, kept me in a job and if I had to discipline I did it sparingly and with full research first. I also went about it and ended up usually getting a more loyal employee, because if there were problems, it rarely had to do with the stated issue. As a manager, rather than jumping, it is important to weigh carefully, watch the situation and consider long-term repercussions to being nasty in any sense of the word. So, I agree you are a very professional person and have a high self esteem and you have the right approach. However, not everyone is as lucky as you, and some seek some positive contact, being so isolated working at home. I would say midground is always best. But big picture idealism best for everyone involved. If I had just kept my mouth shut instead of leaving and then talked to the higher up person how there was a miscommunication initially on the interview regarding scheduling, I am sure I would be there for the rest of my career. That is my personal experience. But, at the time, and even now since I have become strictly IC, I never ever want to be put down or disrespected by anyone most especially the person who is supposed to be supporting me as part of a profitable and mutually beneficial business relationship. Just IMHO.

If you go to her website, that picture is there with her...
name below the paragraph describing her company. Think she would use a model for that? Lighten up - sounds like you're cooking, too!
Amen to that. I SO get the picture.

You can google it to get a picture of it, but it looks like a
phone and you use it to dial into the a system directly. Usually you are dialing directly into the hospital's dictation system. It has a foot pedal attached. Depending on the company you will need unlimited long distance, unless they have a local number of 800#.
For anyone who doesn't get the big picture
I feel sorry for you.
An IC has expenses that are tax deductible and includes all business expenses.
Internet? ULD phone expense? Office space? Fax? ad nau... Honestly, when did we become a group of elitetist, sefl-serving, uneducated group of independent contractors?
I could go on. Instead I will log off. Entitlism is just not something I can stomach on the 4th of July.
The bigger picture sm
I am an MT as well and have been in this business almost 20 years. There are some who have more years invested in this line of work than I do, but 20 years at one job is a long time, and for those of us who have worked at home in this business for that long, it is very difficult to reenter the public work world IF there is a job out there that we might qualify for.
I agree with you in that the entire industry is suffering and has been for the past few years, but when I see company after company not giving raises and, worse yet, cutting line rates, I think it is time to look for employment outside of the MT world. You won't find a better situation in another MT company. They are all swimming in the same murky water and circling the same drain.
No, it's not just MTs who are being impacted, but this is *MY* profession (or what's left of it) and *I* am being impacted with this company's decision to find another way for me to make even less in my paycheck while everything around me...utilities, groceries, gasoline, insurance, etc....is rising to the point that I simply cannot afford to live any more.
I'm a realist as well, and what I see is an entire industry crumbling under the weight of top-heavy management and slave wages for the ones how pay that management. It's time to move on down the road.
A month is not long enough to get the big picture
I've been on the VR for almost a year and started with it on eScription and then went to the new platform about 4-1/2 to 5 months ago. It starts out slow and then you gradually pick up and start thinking that it's getting better. But you reach a point when no matter how hard you try you don't get any faster. That's when you realize that you've already achieved the fastest you can go in editing. After about a year, there has been about a 28% increase in line production and even that's not consistent because it depends on the dictators you get. Every day is different. The maximum line increase is nowhere near the 40% cut in pay.
Yes, always good to have full picture.

Is that your own piggy in the picture? It's precious! :) nm

After reading below, seeing your picture, still lauging!
Love it.
then you haven't been in the picture long enough..
Yeah people let loose everyday, but do nothing but whine like little puppies. This person is actually gonna do something about it even if it's for her friend. Wrong is wrong.
It doesnt matter how long her MT friend stayed. I don't care if it was for $300.
Oh, you can SPEAK all you want, have you ever been in a situtation where you had to fight to get your money whether it be $300 or $5000? I rest my case.
Where on the site is the picture located?
I always get a mental picture of that poster
Not to be mean, but I always picture that poster clawing at her face and pulling her own hair whenever I read her posts. All the unnecessary capitalization, the countless exclamation points...I just picture her in my mind having this massive meltdown and screaming at the top of her lungs while ripping out her hair and clawing her face. I don't even try to envision, it just strikes me as being a mini-meltdown and I can't take the post seriously. I write it off to overly dramatic, sigh and move on.
Not arguing, haven't started yet. Just trying to get the whole picture here.

Big discussion a few weeks ago about them wanting a 3 x 5 picture of you sm
and your work space. They are a major outsourcer, as well.
Do the 30 minutes and leave the rest, then she'll get the picture.

A picture/website speaks a thousand words.
Thanks for this input. It is definitely a wake up call.
Two of us out the door ! .... sm
I did it ! And so did another MT who worked on the same account. We sent our resumes out a few weeks ago without saying a word. We both got "several" offers from companies with good reputations. We were hired by different companies but with pretty much the same positives. My company is a mid-sized MTSO, USA all the way, have accounts that have no interest in VR (first time I ever said thank God for ESL's) and treat their MTs with respect. Hey, I'll take it! No company is perfect (neither am I). It'll take some time to get adjusted. But at least I know I'm not slaving away only to have a knife plunged in my back. Read all these posts over and over until your frustration turns to anger. You deserve better. Go for it!
I'm on my way out the door
I just started a new job this week and can't believe the difference. MQ treats you like a slave and it's only getting worse. I've worked for MQ for 10 years and the last 2-3 years have been all downhill.
I, too, though rely on my income (it's not monopoly money), which is why I'm still with them but part-time and soon to be PT flex. I just wanted to make sure my new job is the right job for me and to give myself a chance to get my line count up.
As for the new company, better pay, straight transcription, 1 account which is loaded, and less supervision. No E-time - I hate that thing.
I never really thought about looking for another job until the last year or so and didn't realize there were so many options. Having done 5 years of acute care at the Q has been well worth the effort.
Go ahead - take the plunge! Send your resumes out and, like the other poster said, research your companies to find what you are looking for. Not everyone has the same needs (for me, I don't need benefits, just good pay and flexibility). There's a company out there that's right for you and you'll find it in no time!
I too am on my way out the door...
switched from part time to part time flex, got another job making 3.5 cents more per line with a fabulous account and a great platform. Who could ask for more?
Was with MQ for over 7 years, and am not happy with the direction the company is heading.
Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.....nm

Don't let the door hit ya on your way out.
Maybe you could go down to South America and b*tch at those people for working for a dollar a day.
Hey, if we take up a collection can we ship you to India? I'm sure there are some of you people (as you like to call us) who are doing whatever work they can get a hold of to feed their children. Maybe you can cruise down in your gas-guzzler - ya know - since you don't have a job and all - and remind them how stupid they are for working for a living.
Yeah. That'd be great.
As opposed to what sort of "panties" she wears normally? Thanks for that mental picture!
typos on this board are to be forgiven, but new company's numerous errors and the picture they
painted for our first impression of someone in whom we are required to put practically our entire life details in an email back to them left much to be desired in my opinion (by this MT).
Revolving door?
Does Heartland have a revolving door? In the past few months on this board, I've read about people being fired, including their president.
Uhhh...Just don't go next door....;)
nm
Its a revolving door
There ad is always up for MT's.
If it seems like a revolving door, SM
I'm sure it is. As far as wanting your boss available to you...for what? I'm not sure I understand the need for that. You log on when it's time to begin your shift, you do the work that comes to you and you log off. When I worked for them, I might have talked to my supervisor once every couple of months or so. My quality stats came in the mail, my check was direct deposited and I had no need to discuss anything with the supervisor.
revolving door. NM
x
I'd be out the door in a heartbeat.
I see that open door
Yeah, I'll just get in line behind 10 former teammates that just got the ax, all the MDI'ers looking for a new gig, and locally, the 450 people whose plant just closed. Once I get through that crowd, I can then compete with my current teammates who are also looking for a second job/replacement job because they are eyeying the open door too, in between competing with one another for work.
Once I claw my way through the desperate crowd of job seekers and into another job, I can wait a year or so, run across the same scenario at the next company, and start looking for work again when their work pool mysteriously dries up.
Or I could just blow my brains out and avoid repeating this loathesome, demoralizing cycle for the next 20 years until I'm retirement age. Thanks for helping me ponder my options.
Does anyone know why MB was shown the door at Interpro? nm
:}
Uh, not too many people because the door didn't
All that is left are the newbies who don't know any better. They meekly wonder why they don't have any work to do but don't have enough experience to work for a real company so they twiddle their thumbs while their work is sent overseas. Nobody in their right mind would be happy there unless they have trampled on people on the way to the top.
I think they still have revolving door management.
xx
Thanks for this. I feel like if I could get my foot in the door,

Heartland in the US was just a ruse to get them in the door...sm
I have watched the company for a long time. They took over the Kansas City Accounts and also Hawaii accounts I used to work saying they were an American Company because they are stationed here and offered us QA jobs to train the Indians (I think not). It was just a matter of time before they trained enough of them and had enough clients they would move it all over there. What is sick about this is that most Americans do not know their social security numbers and personal information are going in the middle of the terrorist lands!
The American QA is out the door too. they are using their MEs from India
to do the QA on the foreign based MT and the MEs suck just as bad as the MTs do.
Anyone know how to get a foot in the door @ TransTech
I have read a lot of great things about them, and would love to know if anyone knows how to get a foot in the door. I just went to their site and submitted an application, but haven't done the testing yet.
I have over 5 years of MT experience, and am sick and tired of working for crappy companies that have late paychecks and run out of work! :( I want to get somewhere and get comfortable!

My company was practically next door to JLG. They
stopped our 401K, then stopped our direct deposit, then they lost all their big accounts and we all lost our jobs.
