and various plans. I have the choice plan with Coventry, single coverage, and for medical, vision, and dental, it runs about $65 a pay period.

Have a choice between 2 companies - sm
1st: Good about co. outweighed by bad comments here. Ex-Text, acute care, flexible schedule, FT status but can be done in less than 8 hours if work completed, nice pay. CONS: Can't talk to lead until I am in. If holidays fall on your reg. work day, you work 'em. Unsure of how long it will take to get lines in. New to Ex-Text. Don't really want full-time but that's all they offer. Got them to at least offer flexible and can stop when lines are done.
2nd: Very good co. way far outweighed by bad comments here. Possible LD (unsure of exact acct at this point), SE status, acute care, paid per line, done when lines are in for the day, excellent pay. CONS: Must have a set schedule (per me, not them) turned in ahead of time - up to 2 months (huge con for me), work a few holidays per year.
I know I have to pick what is right for me but I do enjoy other's comments for something I might not have thought of. Not new to the business - been around for over 20 years. Thanks!
First Choice and QT. Both good companies, too.sm
I recently moved to an area that doesn't offer broadband yet, and I've been using dailup with these 2 companies since. If you can stand how looooonnnng it takes to download with dialup, suggest you give either of these companies a call. Transmitting back the transcribed reports doesn't pose any problems, for some reason. Not sure if either has a lot of radiology work, though. Definitely worth checking. Good luck!
I am sure a lot of insurance companies are trying to do that...
nm
Thanks--that's very helpful. Just the insurance companies
.
Do companies really contribute to insurance?
I am not sure if it is where I live or what, but I just discussed employee status with my company, and they wanted over $450 a month for health insurance for a very high deductible plan (5000 family) with a copay (20%). I specifically asked if the company paid part of that, and she said yes, 50%.
I went online to e-insurance and priced out a comparable policy, and it was around $200 a month for a family high-deductable policy with an HSA option. How can it be that a group policy costs over 3 times what an individual policy costs? Or do the companies fudge a little bit when they say 50%? I find it really hard to believe that my company will not give me any kind of raise but will automatically pay $5400 a year towards my insurance without batting an eye. (BTW, the other option was $850 a month which would put them paying over $10000 a year for insurance).
What am I missing here?
Insurance companies pay out 10s of thousands
that are not guaranteed. They tell you every surgery has no guarantee its going to work and we type that phrase daily. I believe IVF should be covered under every policy as a necessity for maternal and parental well being.
companies with reasonable insurance
... but not enough to have my premiums double from one payday to the next. Surely there are companies still with reasonable insurance. I get it that everything is going up everywhere but please if you have information on companies wtih still reasonable rates I need to know.
Call insurance companies in your local
yellow pages that advertise health insurance. Call several to get comparisons.
Check einsurance.com.
How much if family health insurance at these companies?
Transtech, SOAP, Futurenet, and Transolutions?
Do they include dental and/or vision with that?
Needing to make a choice and health insurance is the most important thing right now with 2 small children.
Thanks!
Do any companies offer insurance that covers IVF? sm
Does anyone happen to know if any companies offer insurance that covers IVF? I have been in this business for nearly a decade and have been doing QA for the last 4, but I would take a job right now with just about anyone as long as they offered insurance that covered IVF. It is so expensive out of pocket, and I really need the coverage. I have even been considering taking a job out of the transcription industry to get this coverage. So, I guess if anyone knows anywhere at all I can get this coverage.. please help!!! I am unfortunately in a state where this coverage is not mandated... so it is very hard to come by... :(
I am not sure if this was the right board... but I thought it was worth a shot... :P
With so many IC jobs/companies, would think MTs are buying insurance outside
v
Any companies hiring with BCBS as the insurance?
If there are, do they pay well? By well I mean 9-10 cpl.
Also, Medware switches insurance companies OFTEN, which can be inconvenient. sm
I have had to switch primary providers more than once because of this, and had to switch dentists twice before I finally just dropped the dental plan. I think we have had 4 different health insurance companies in 8 years.
Companies that provide afforable health insurance?
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what companies provide affordable health insurance. I need to provide insurance for my family with good coverage and affordable premiums. I can't wait 90 days or more before benefits start. I need to work at a company that provides benefits pretty quickly. I know...seems impossible these days. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Any companies letting part-timers buy in on the health insurance? sm
Just wondering if there are any transcription companies where you can work 20 or 25 hours a week and get in on the health insurance plan even if you have to pay the whole premium yourself? Thanks
Any companies offer health insurance for part time?
Are there any companies out there that offer benefits to PT employees, such as health insurance?
I know it's a rarity but I know hospitals do.
Companies w/Escription accounts that offer affordable family insurance??
I realize that affordable is subjective so whatever information anyone can give woudl be appreciated. The majority of Escription accounts offer IC only. Thanks
Any companies offer part-timers chance to buy into group insurance? need coverage ....
I've been looking at prices for solo medical insurance and while I can probably afford some coverage, I'm feeling rather paranoid about having insurance canceled if I actually get sick -- I'm fairly ignorant about what protections may have been passed and may just be responding to other people's horror stories.
Anyway, I'm not entirely sure I want to work full time for any of the nationals ... they seem to have gotten awfully rigid wrt daily line counts within certain fixed hours ... some days I'm simply creaky and hate feeling pressured ... so part time to start seems more reasonable than jumping in with both feet. Any infor or recommendations appreciated ...
Thanks!
Any companies have Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance? sm
I am an IC looking for a new job as an employee- need healthcare bad! Due to a pre-existing condition, Blue Cross has been the only company that will insure me so looking to get them again. Anyone know of companies that have this?
401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars. I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
First Choice does.
Get out while it is still your choice. It seems like
things have gotten worse since I left. Which is hard to believe!
Not all companies are like Heartland. Best of luck to you.
OSi is by far, your #1 choice.
I have been at OSi for 2 years now. Worked for Medquist for...um....let's see...about a month before I realized what I had gotten myself into. OSi isn't perfect, but they sure strive to be. Constant feedback, almost everyone has a positive attitude and loves their job. My Team Lead is pretty awesome. She makes my job so much easier. Let me know how I can help you make the right decision. I'd love to help you out in any way I can.
they said we would have a choice about
ASR beginning 10/01, told my boss I would not do ASR, guess what I am getting today................. ASR STAT reports!!!!!! Not a supervisor in the company working today that I can find
First Choice
Asked to test for this company. Is this a good company to work for, plenty of work, pay on time, etc.? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
First Choice sm
I don' t work for First Choice, but I applied and passed the test. I was contacted by the recruiter to set up an interview. The very next day she told me all the accounts were caught up, and she couldn't hire me at this time. I thought that was a little odd.
Yes! First Choice, QT, and I believe JLG, also. nm

Thanks so much!

Any info on First Health. I am training tomorrow, wondering about the program they use and their accounts? Also the staff.
First Choice
Could you please tell me more about First Choice? I have not heard of this company until now. TIA
First Choice
This is by far the best company to work for. Great platform, great pay, great owner and staff. I wouldn't work for any other company!!!
would be your choice obviously
personally, I don't rely too much on what these boards say, everybody has their own opinion - - I don't believe they have a high turnover, the MT list seems to be growing it you ask me, I still see the same names I always saw and communicate regularly with the MTs, not sure whree this person is getting their info - - but ultimately it's your choice. I've been around to all the major MTSOs and for the past 3 years, Diskriter has done what none of the others could, supplied me with daily work during MY scheduled hours or paid me downtime
Your choice. sm
It depends on your situation. If you are single with no other bennies I would say DR. If your are single and in need of benefits, tell the recruiter you want to be on a smart-source account, wherein you are actually an employee of the hospital with DR as a liason. I made an OK living but have affordable health insurance, dental, vision, long-term disability, short-term disability and life insurance. What I like best is our T-leader does not tolerate cherry picking. If you are married, I say be an IC, if not you are better off on a DR SMART-SOURCE account.
TRS is a bad choice
I worked at that place for several years, they go through more changes than anywhere I ever worked. You rarely get to stay on one account and they do not give you anything except for do more, do more. The only way to get anywhere with that company is to kiss butt and give until it hurts.
I have to say, if you go to TRS you will be feeling like you are in haties before long. Consider yourself warned they are NOT the employer of the year like their president and vice president would like to believe they are, they will cheat you out of your life if you let them.
Working at McDonald's selling hamburbers is a fantastic step up from TRS.
It's your choice -- use your own PC or theirs. nm
I believe it's your choice ... (sm)
I have always just preferred using the Word auto-correct as my expander, so that's what I use. There's not one built into the platform, and I think you can just use whatever Expander you want. Seems like I remember talk of some of the MTs building some stuff up in ShortCut, so I know that one is compatible.
I don't have a choice...sm
My husband is active duty Air Force, and they are making him change careers. We have a three-year-old daughter, so we have to work separate shifts. When he goes off to school for the new job, I will not have anybody to watch our daughter.
Trust me, I am terified of coming back home to work. I have a job that is a set paycheck, and I have been having problems with my wrists lately. I worry about not being able to make enough money.
First Choice
I was wondering the same thing because that was really fast. I sent resume but heard nothing.
At least TT gives you a choice to do
With Extext (regular MT) you can look up old reports on the patients which a lot of software does not give you that capability. That saves a lot of time.
If I had a choice right now, no I would not...sm
You have to understand, I only have 2 years exp. The most I can expect to get is 8 cpl, which I do get, but it is only maybe one day a week. I went from working everyday or almost everyday at 8cpl to one day at 8cpl. I am broke. I lost my account. I need money. Secondly I know nothing about neonatal dictation, have never done it. I would need some training in that area. I can't expect them to pay me top dollar for no exp in the specialty. If I had been doing neonatal a while, then no I would not accept 7cpl. Not saying I have the job cause I don't, but I wouldn't apply if I had exp in neonatal care for that amount of money. They aren't requiring neonatal exp so I applied. They are getting what they pay for. An MT unexperienced in that area. If they want to train for cheaper pay so be it. That will be one more area I know in MT. I'll do it, but if someone offered me a position in something I am experienced in then no I probably wouldn't. If they want exp MTs in neonatal care then they aren't gonna get them for 7cpl. Again, they are getting what they pay for.
Exactly! Everything is about choice...
I knew when I chose to become an MT that there was a large possibility that I would be working weekends. I chose to become an MT. And, yes, my child comes first as well, but that doesn't have anything to do with working weekends. And for your information, my holy day is Friday, so it makes no difference to me whether I work on Sunday; and worshiping God is something we should do every single day of the week, not just 1 day on the weekend.
That is entirely your choice...
But please be prepared for nothing but VR, a massive pay cut because you're doing VR and not straight transcription, a rigid schedule, AND the fact that by working for Transcend you are, in your own small but significant way, contributing to the selling out of the American MT.
Please, think again.
Then if you can sleep at night knowing all of the above, more power to you.
Insurance Questions: Can you tell me what you pay for insurance through your
MTSO, which MTSO it is and whether the coverage is decent? I currently pay $92.00 a pay period for decent coverage but am trying to figure out if I am getting a good deal or if I could do better elsewhere.
TIA.
