In Reply to: Can I transition successfully from - radiology to acute care?
Radiology may soon be a faint memory for the transcriptionist. It is an easy specialty to transition to VR because of the very specific terminology. You can do it. Have faith in yourself. I was lucky enough to have a job where I did radiology and acute care and pathology and just about every clinic specialty that you can imagine all at the same time for most of my 25+ year career. I always had a full-time job and a moonlighting job and learned SO much. I didn't realize then how important all of that experience would be now. The joke is... are you ready for this... I STILL CAN'T FIND A JOB :) The past few radiology jobs I've had have all gone to VR or have more transcriptionists than they do work so I too am having to find an acute care job. I'm up for it though. I need a change of pace to keep me from falling asleep when I work, ha ha. Maybe some good ol' ER or whatever else I can find that pays more than 7 cents a line. Good luck to you. Give it a try. You may be surprised at how connected radiology terminology is with many other specialties.
