You are correct. I totally read the original post wrong but

I had a long day, but that does not change the fact that the Allstate ad IS appalling. :(

Um, I think you need to read the original post. sm
It really might be a good idea to read a post before ASSUMING that you know what it is about and spouting off at the mouth. I'm embarrassed for you.
HOW do read my original post
and come away thinking I was equating 'wearing clothes from WalMart - to - creating medical records with gross errors?'
Seriously, how? If you still do after re-reading it, then you just didn't get my meaning.
Please re-read the original post.
There was no question as to whether someone had to work it or not. The question was to why there should be incentive pay to go along with working those hours.
Your rant, while posted in this thread, actually does nothing to address it, but rather seems to have provided you a place to vent....why so blue, Boo? Did you have to work the weekend?
Inside is original post by DK...read it
JLG IS DISHONEST

I just completed an interview process with JLG. The owner presents herself as an MT who understands our situations. But they are very dishonest. Do not trust them. They are liars. I just wish I could find some honesty in this business. I have been in it for 20 years. It used to be a professional career with integrity, but not anymore. The disadvantage of working over the internet is that companies do not see you as a person, but as a computer, or a typist. They don't have to look into our eyes when they lie. They just really don't care. Thanks for listening.
Goodness...read the original post again..you are way off the mark.
Sounds like you have the problem.....and are very willing to attack, gut and spit out.
Of course I could be wrong.

I think you read my post wrong
I just I used to work for DGSG and NOW (not no) work for Keystrokes...I have plenty of work at Keystrokes
that's not what the original poster wanted to do - at least not how I read it
//
Correct me if I am wrong, but........
I didn't read anywhere that we have to give a set schedule. After reading the posts from those that got the packet, it is my understanding you only have to give how many hours in a week you will work. I have 3 young kids and as long as I don't have to work a scheduled "shift" then I am fine with the hours. To me, it is really no different than having a quota, which is what I currently have.
Perhaps I misssed it, but are we now being scheduled to work a certain shift?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but
Don't the policies of this board very clearly state that we're not to use peoples' names? I'm not the moderator, but I don't find the rules that difficult to comprehend. And no, I'm not QA, management, or anybody else associated with this co. I just think we owe the board the respect of abiding by the policies and using it in the way it was intended. The reason some of the specific company postings got banned was because of junk like this going on nonstop.
Is this what I think it might be? Plz correct me if I'm wrong but...
it sounds an awful like like Trans Am. I kind of remember hearing about them going under a different name in addition to the original. Again, correct me if I'm wrong. At any rate, as a caveat, you should NEVER pay to work. JMO but I would steer clear.
Correct me if I am wrong
I thought DRC/Acusis/Spheris were all the same???
Correct me if I'm wrong
But I believe the Q already found the loophole around this, which is having the job transcribed in India but FINAL QA CHECK in the USA gets them around it, or some hoopla. Seems that I read this on the MQ board awhile back, that there was a loophole even if companies requested their work done in the USA.
Anyone still care to cheer for D's integrity and how she'd NEVER sell out her MTs at MDI-MD?
Yeah, thought so...
Correct me if I'm wrong, PLEASE, but...
In reading that article where Larry is quoted, I got the distinct impression that offshoring was his FIRST option to clients. I don't know...just something in the way it was worded...'Not if the client doesn't want it.'
Is it just me, or does that sound like offshoring new clients is their FIRST choice at Transcend and work is only begrudgingly kept in the USA?
Or am I being paranoid?
Correct my math if I am wrong....
I have calculated that 22% (on average) of a report is spaces (by manual count). So...if we have to cut out half of the spaces...that is an instant pay cut of 11%. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
No you are not totally wrong
and apostrophe or no apostrophe will most likely not impact patient care/patient medical record.
My original post
I apologize for stirring up a hornet's nest however, I see soo many people complaining on here about the fact that they only want to work certain hours, they don't want to work weekends, and so on that it angers me. Yes, I work weekends, but that is because of the fact that my s/o works on the weekends, so generally I take a day off during the week, that way, I can run my errands. I am an employee for a company, however, I really don't have set hours, nor do I work a straight 8 hour day -- I generally work more, because like all of us, I have bills to pay as well and know approximately what I have to make to be able to have a roof over my head and food on the table. I am my sole support and live in an area with a relatively high cost of living as well. I was making great money up until a couple of years ago, but things happened and I have had to take a job at a lower rate of pay, but at least it is a job. The key here is being flexible in your hours. If there is no work available, then maybe there will be in a few hours and you have to explain to friends and family that this is how it works. Luckily for me, I found a great fit with a company, its only one account, one hospital and I have never run out of work.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is 4 cents a line for VR with them I thought. nm

In my original post about this, I wanted to say sm
edict rather than law, but figured I'd get jumped on using that word. One of the late-night talk-show hosts referred to it as a law when one of the guests was baiting him to say, Merry Christmas.
The point is, you knew exactly what I meant in the first place. Oh well. Glad I gave No Name a LOL! Laughing is healthy.
Yes, the original post that started this all was by DK.

Maybe you should reread the original post. sm

Re: The flame by my original post
Folks I'm sorry someone considers my post a flame. That was not my intention, but then again I have never been treated worse by an employer in my whole professional life. That's why I'm looking forward to working for a company without local roots and the small town, small-minded mindset it brings.

follow up to my original post
I see certain people on this board, who post under the same names and I can take a 1 hour break, a 2 hour break or a 3 hour break and they seem to be whining and complaining about life -- yet they can get new puppies, new kitties, new other animals but BOTTOM line -- oh gee no work guess what people -- I have to swtich back and forth between 2 accounts on my MAIN account and 2 accounts on my secondary -- I literally work till I dropand thank heavens, I am in a relationship where my significant other understands -- yes, we ALL have to deal with being on hold with India, but that is where you take a day, to pay the bills, vent with customer service reps, etc and move forward -- and like I told my other half -- bill dosent get paid its YOUR responsibility - a relationship, whether it be marriage or othewise takes 2 people.
And as I mentioned before, TAKE THE time to learn online resources as well -- for example, if you hear Kem-7 THINK Chemistry-7 -- learn punctuation, grammar and most of all spelling and --sorry been working from 7 am to 11 pm -- with VERY few breaks -- might help in the long run
By the way, I nearly forgot this original post, as
I got so absorbed in reading the GREAT posts below. I am now so proud to say that I have just done what you suggested, and am now joyfully employed with one of the three companies you listed - go US MTs! I left the company-who-shall-not-be named due to these issues, and feel I have at least tried to do something. Its a good feeling, too, for a change.
The ORIGINAL post ONLY intent was
to help protect fellow MTs from working for this schister of a MTSO. THAT IS ALL.
No more information needed in so far as what steps we are taking to secure payment, except that we will prevail. I GUARANTEE YOU THAT.
your original post about is it fair sm
to have these horrid dictators for the test. Back to the question......YES IT IS. That is probably a sample of what this company does. You took the test, you didn't like it because the dictation was bad, so move on! Yes this profession has come down to lines and cpl etc etc and its a darn shame. If you don't want the crap don't work for a company that has crap dictators. I don't know where you are going to find that though. All companies have accounts with bad dictators. you are bound to get some of them. Doing them all day long, no I wouldn't want to either. That is why they tested this way because that is probably the account. Believe it or not, there are folks who have an ability to decipher these dictators (I don't want it either). It has changed old MTs like me who have been in this business for 35 years.
Bad dictators have always been part of the profession, its a part of medicine! You don't have to do it, you tested, you didn't like it...GREAT move on
original post was dated 8/12 --sm
and is stuck between *has Spheris moved* and WMX post. It had 90 something views.
No, no one answered her original post.
She then came back and posted a very rude post in which we responded rudely back. Maybe if she had kindly come back and asked why no one responded to her post she would have gotten nicer answers. The fact is, I did read the initial post and did not respond to it as it would have taken way too long to go into detail everything that being an IC entails. If she had been more specific with what she wanted to know, I more than likely would have responded to the original post.
Follow up to my original post
I worked for a company where it was a combination of VR and straight typing -- I never knew what the next report was going to bring and at the same time, started working for a company that does straight transcription. I am not adverse to VR, if that is all that is done; however, these companies have started the thing of paying one rate for straight typing and another for VR -- that's where it is very frustrating as I am sure it is to many of you. I know the goals that I have to set for myself in order to keep a roof over my head, pay my utilities and keep food on the table and if it means putting 12-15 hours a day in, then I do it, knowing what my priorities are. For those of you that are fortunate enough to have a spouse who also brings in an income, that is all well and good, but many of us are single and have to do what we can to survive. My rent alone is close to $800 a month, then I have cable and electric on top of it to pay, and right now, I have very little food in the fridge but I am managing to get by.
This is what you said in your original post RESPECT..sm
We need to know more than most RNS, LPNS and
I dare say doctors -
Another case of swelled head?
That should read: If the report was 98% correct

Jo..I e-mailed you a response about your original post....(nm)
mmmm
not offensive - the original post WAS racist......
I lost the original post, but found it again sm
Please email me too with your experiences if you cannot post on the board. I really am interested in anything you have to share on this journey!
reread original post pleeeze!! She did not
say she was an employee. Really people....we need to be careful when we spew this crap!
Open your original post and then near the bottom

I hope you saw my original answer to this post
over on the main board before they moved your post and thus dropped my reply....
$48 for the medical, $10 for the dental, and I don't know how much for the vision because I didn't opt in for it this year. That's per paycheck, do double that to get the monthly fee. I did opt for the higher-deductible medical; the lower-deductible premium share was about twice as much.
Very odd, I put your original questions in quotes, but they did not show up in the post. nm
I'll help! I left MQ at the time of this original post
I found a great job with a great US company, and have my self respect back. Enjoy my work again. Go USA!! Go MTs!!
Stop justifying/explaning your original post (sm)
Those of us with some compassion understood exactly what you were trying to find out, Alice. You don't need to justify or explain that post for the benefit of that black cloud hovering around the boards posting negative responses to everything she reads. Your post was fine, and your concern was understandable.
Ignore this person, who obviously just enjoys p*ssing on everyone's parade because she feels someone p*ssed on hers.
Good luck to you in your decision making, and I hope you make the right choice in finding a good fit for you.
did anyone get a response from the original poster? this post is just fishy, especially since they
nm
If you find the original post so offensive, why did you respond at all?
Why don't you get a clue? A good number of people enjoyed this. If you dislike it, you can just move on to some rosy-happy-fun filled post and leave the rest of us to chuckle without being harassed.
Whoever posted TT pays 1.5 for holidays worked or not is TOTALLY WRONG !
TT pays for NO holidays any day of the year. It is paid at 1.5 line rate ONLY if you work those fingers to the bone that day.
Only those who work inside the office building GET PAID and GET TIME OFF, too. LOCKED DOORS ! Who made that policy? Great policy for mgmt. and other office staff. sigh
Totally frustrated - Please read
Kinda apples to oranges, but your last paragraph there stroke a chord with me.
When I worked in-house on PM shifts, my supervisor would process my timecard and definitely more than once would forget to include my overtime, any vacation days I had put in for, etc., so I would end up on a few occasions getting paid for 1 week's worth of work in a 2-week pay period due to HER oversights.
Her response? 'Oh well, we'll catch it next pay period.'
I went along with this and lived off of ramen and Kraft Dinner a few times, not wanting to rock the boat since I did like her as a person, but she pulled this nonchalant 'oh well' routine once too often when my waiting meant a $50 late charge on my rent. I went over her head and straight to Payroll with a copy to my boss's supervisor, and the problem never happened again (still had to wait 4 days to get the balance of my check, but it was better than waiting 14 days).
So, I TOTALLY agree with your last paragraph. It's all in the attitude and the way some of these people think doing without part of your paycheck is no big deal at all, like you should somehow plan on your paycheck being shorted.
I doubt you have the recourse to go over someone's head to get your pay sooner, but I just wanted to let you know I totally have been there and know exactly how you feel, and it's just not right.
Looks like the original post got pulled, too. Too many of us looking for "the" place to work,

Try re-reading the original post...you're missing the point
Testing with New England Medical Transcription - follow up to original post
I sent an email to the recruiter when I was unable to access the files and received one back from her this morning (Monday) informing me that apparently someone who was also testing had inadvertently deleted the files off the FTP site.
I had posted that question right up under the original poster and prior to her post being answeredsm
Looks are deceiving and I AM paying attention.
