What on earth are you talking about? How did you extrapolate "bigot" out of my reply to the OP? I am not a bigot, have never been one and will never be one. I posted yesterday on a thread about watching attitudes - something every thinking person should do. S/L yours could use some adjusting.

Some people just like to get on here and complain complain about a previous employer. Put the shoe on the other foot. Doing any kind of management, editing or QA is not a glamour job nor does it make that person the most beloved in the company. Perhaps some people just do not fit in with a particular program. What is perceived as belittling to one, might be totally opposite to someone else and totally appreciated. I am often on the receiving end of feedback and I welcome it. As for nervous types, take some Xanax and take a nap. Its a business people, not a popularity contest. Just do it right the first time, everyone will be happy and you'll be left alone.

Yes, but there's a difference between constructive criticism and demeaning emails. Since you aren't in my shoes, you can't relate, but I feel there's a certain level of professionalism that should be maitained by all, and some people in management lack it. You're right, some people just may not fit, and if that is the case, take care of it sooner rather than later. I welcome feedback too, but I do not appreciate demeaning emails from management. I've received lots of feedback in my time, and most of it has been constructive, but I've received some of the destructive sort of feedback (if you want to call it feedback) as well, and I can relate to the OP. You don't have to agree; you are entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine.
I don't understand why you're directing your post at me. I don't feel I fit your stereotype of people who like to complain and complain. I'm not that type of person. It's just nice to have a place to vent, and it's nice to know that I'm not alone in some situations. I have a feeling that's why a lot of people post. We can read what we want and ignore the rest. We all have that option.

The OP was asking about job opportunites...she did not ask to have her work speed critiqued! I get so sick of you dinosaurs who say Oh, I have been doing this for 100 years thinking that just because you have been doing MT a long time, it means you can insult others. There is absolutely no sense in it. Don't you have anything else better to do with your time than sit there and think of ways to hurt someone's feelings? There is being blunt and then there is just being plain rude. Since you think you are so smart, it looks like you would know the difference!!!

It happened about 2 years ago. A bunch of people came on here and bashed them real bad about line count methods and everyone who worked there was told not to do it anymore or lawyers would get involved. I don't work there and never did. I'm not bashing them at all. Just recall that happening and now no one at all says much bad about them. They keep it to themselves.

Especially since it is also the trend to use VBC virtual black character (no spaces) for line counting. There was an article on the web by FutureNet showing how it words and comparisons.

about racial prejudice - really shocking, and someone named eyetype was proudly gloating and calling herself a string of things of which I can only recall old hateful bigot, but she was gonna get a new attitude, or something to that effect. Whole thing now deleted, conveniently, but I actually made a sticky note to remember who it was that said these horrible things. Now that's a HUGE spot to reach in my world - SO BAD that I would put a sticky note anywhere! I have never done that before in my life, and there are some ugly posters around these here woods!! I wanted to be sure to steer clear of you and NEVER forget what you said, you or the other eyetype?

I reread my posts and I said Fine that I understood what you were saying was rude. I was just commenting about the line count issue at Transcend, giving MY opinion. I have yet to see in any of my posts anything rude or sarcastic towards you. I don't understand why your posts to me have an accusatory or rude context to them. I disagree with you on certain issues that we have talked about here. There is nothing wrong with that. I understood and understand what you thought was rude. Okay, get over it! I am done talking about that, I was just trying to give my opinion about the company. I could care less about having the last word or not. I just want to give my opinion that happens to represent a fair amount of MTs out there who happen to be happy at their company. Sorry if that bothers you to the core!

Are you dyslexic by any chance, or just in a rush to judgment? The first 10 years of my career, I was an in-house MT with great pay and benefits. We were respected employees in the hospital and I enjoyed a reputation as being a top-notch MT....that's how I got a 30% raise with free benefits at Baylor College Medicine and later at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, working during the hey-day of heart transplant advances made by such world-renown doctors as Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. Michael DeBakey. You may have heard of them. So you see, I never really considered myself a failure, having been in the position to have the privilege of being a part of that. I guess I needed you to bring that to my attention.
After outsourcing, I maintained my connections to the Baylor and the TMC through my accounts and typed my way through ground-breaking AIDS research and later pioneering advances in plastic surgery. Silly me. I didn't measure my success in terms of dollars and cents, worldly possessions and the like. I took great pride in my work (still do) and learned to struggle through the love/hate relationship I had with it. At least I had the satisfaction of knowing that I was a part of something that was intelligent, important, worthwhile and helpful to others. I stayed in it for the only real reason I have ever understood throughout the years...quality patient care. I had a contribution to make to that. You see, dear, it was not an industry to me...it was my calling.
My post was an attempt to address the unnecessary hate part of that relationship. My comments were not directed toward some mean-spirited stranger in need of a self-righteous superiority fix, but feel free to trounce me to your heart's content. I did not put in all those years of hard work to be run out of the profession by theiving subcontractors or the likes of you. I had a story to tell and a message to deliver to the penny pinching TTD scavenger, no more, no less.
Your judgmental, snide and trite observations are too petty to merit further comment, except to say that you need to reserve the pity party for yourself. You are the one who has made a sad and meaningless commentary here, not me.

I think the other posters just had horrible, horrible experiences with this person when she was there and they are just still very angry...sometimes anger makes you say things you don't necessarily mean...they are just trying to stick up for a good company and not let one disgruntled former employee badmouth them...

lack of work, and a seeming lack of caring on the part of mangement regarding what the MTs are facing. I hate VR, but I was not one of those who hated the advent of WP or anything new -- quite the opposite. I love new things and new technology! But VR benefits no one but the company and MTs who do not type fast. I could type the report myself much faster than I could edit the garbage put in front of me. So ... great ... I could spend the same amount of time and get half the money. And you wonder why they are upset?
Fortunately, I no longer work there, although my work at KS has dried up so much I wonder what is happening there. Fortunately, I have a couple of other jobs, but everything makes me nervous nowadays.
Hateful remarks usually arise after someone from the company in question
and people get sick of it. Sorry, but it's true. Yes, people do get very angry and probably post things they shouldn't but when you see someone on here posting 24/7 and it's obvious where they're from and what they're up to it really starts to grate on your nerves like Chinese water torture.
Information people gather from this board also includes warnings from former employees of companies about their past experiences and observations and I've used that information many times myself. It's a life-saver.
Eyetype is proud of herself - on other posts she calls herself an old hateful bigot or
something to that effect. I just totally avoid anything with her name in it - such a waste of eye sight. Obviously, her husband, if she ever had one, checked out on her, and she's a miserable evil person. Poor thing, though its hard to feel sorry for her when she's so ugly.

It's likely that the hostile MTs that constantly spew negative remarks are the same ones who are too passive to speak up for themselves in the real world. They are basically cowards that take crap all day then come here and anonymously take their pinned up frustrations out on everyone else.
I have seen this on many message boards, but for whatever reason, MT Stars is the absolute worst for this. Isolation must be a huge factor. Some of these gals just need to get out once in a while. JMO

Alot of people on this board do not have a life outside of MT'ing, home all the time, not around humans much, antisocial, and that makes for deep seeded anger/cabin fever and frustration that comes out the only way it can...through this board.

They offer one thing and then completely turn around and do another (only after being employed for a month or so)----
You will be completely satisfied and productive on one account and completely out of nowhere they switch on you, throw you on a new account (when they said they wouldn't because they like to see their MTs productive).
I get my Expanders and macros set up ...and BOOM... new account.
Then there you are learning new account specifics with a bunch of crappy dictators---It feels as if you are starting all over again with a new company.
Can you ever be really happy? I am not asking for specific company names here. I am just wondering since changing jobs 3 times since leaving MQ THIS YEAR if all of the companies are like this. Maybe I just jinx myself by getting happy and excited and telling people how great this new company is. lol.
It is not just the switching of the accounts.. it is the IC companies that start out to be 24 hour TAT and then ask you for a schedule after working for a couple of weeks (even when you are getting your required lines in). Or the companies that even though they are IC and you did give them a schedule expect you to log on any time of the day to work. AGGGHHHH.
I get that this is the business..and I don't want days filled with glorious dictators and simple work (I know that is not possible). I would just like to be left in ONE PLACE for once with a primary account that doesn't get switched for no reason and get my work back as agreed upon! Hey throw all of the horrid ESLs you want at me on the account... just leave me be! lol. Seriously.

I don't even work for OSI, but people who do work there (or at any company for that matter) should be able post whatever they want. If you don't want to hear about it, then don't read the posts. Some people actually find it very informative in case they ever need or want to look for a new company. This way people can be well-informed about other's experiences with the company. Again, if you don't want to read more about it, then just simply ignore the posts.There is no need to tell people what they can and cannot post about on this site.

I agree with the concern that work is going to companies overseas that do not comply with US standards (either HIPAA or financial), but, at least SPI owns the companies in India and the Philippines - with the corporate office being based in Manila. I cannot even imagine the companies MQ or Spheris uses for outsourcing.

I totally agree. You do need to call the office if you are experiencing this, and I am very sure they will do something to fix it. My lead MT has been GREAT. She has answered any questions that I have had immediately, and I am otherwise left alone to do my work, which I love. I am able to get a very high line count everyday, and my lead MT keeps telling me what a great job I am doing. I wish I had found Keystrokes a long time ago. They are the best in my opinion.

I have been with Keystrokes for a month now and couldn't be happier. I get awesome line counts every day and my lead MT is so nice and always very helpful. I was very pleasantly surprised when my very first pay check was direct deposited right on time and it was for the exact amount that I had calculated at the end of the pay period. My fiance is also about to start there, but he has been waiting for about 3 weeks since he got his equipment to get set up, but hopefully it will be today. I am on an ER account and never run out of work and there are not even any ESLs! I work on ExText and LOVE it. It is probably the easiest and most efficient platform I have used in a long time, but they do have other platforms on different accounts, which I hear are just as good. I hope to work there for many years to come!

The platform is all up to the hospitals and clinics. The company just goes along with what the client wants to use for a platform.

I have an account in Cquence which felt cumbersome at first, but then I got comfortable and produce as much there as I do typing, say, in Word offline. Recently I started a Meditech account and...hey! Cquence is absolutely wonderful compared to Meditech!! So my opinion of Cquence has gone up, for sure.

MANY of their accounts are still on Lanier. I should know. I'm on one of them. As a matter of fact, at least six clients are still on there, if not more.
There are e-mails from the owner daily asking people to stretch. There are demands for weekend work STILL. The recruiter has been know to say that SHE is the one true authority on QA, often defying what both the client profile and the QA feedback say.
I'm curious if you're just trying to keep people from knowing the truth, as people are leaving in an almost a mass exodus. Damage control, perhaps?

However, the one thing irritating me is the reduction in pay. In 1999, I was making 31K year salary. Now, salaried, I am making 29K a year. I have 10 times more responsibility than my other job and make less money. I work my butt off and for what? I do more work, they just add more on. I worked production for many, many years. I know I made better then (and this even included 4 years with the squid!) Oy vey - there is my vent because I never do. I truly believe in the harder you work, the better you will do. However, sometimes even I want to throw in the towel!

I have worked for KS for almost 8 months now, have 2 accounts, and have never been treated better by a company. How is it rude by turning someone down for a job? I have been turned down for jobs in the past when I was perfectly qualified for them, and I never took it personally or took it as the company being rude. I simply moved on. KS has many different types of accounts from radiology, ER, basic 4, clinic, etc., and it may just be that they did not have any openings that they thought would suit you at this time. That may not be the case at all, but I have no idea. I am not a recruiter, just an MT. If it matters to you that much, maybe you could contact them and ask why you received the e-mail than you did instead of coming on here saying how rude they are. JMO.

I have to also agree that they by no means micromanage at all. In fact, they are the least thing from that. They completely leave you alone. I have been very impressed with the way things are run!

I have been able to make my lines by being flexible. They, in turn, are very good with me. There has to be some compromise in this business. If there is no work on your regular shift, you just may have to go out of your comfort zone and work a flexible schedule now and again. You get what you give.

It is just not right to get your line count average at a good-paying level and then have it knocked down to nothing because of a crappy dictator. I could go on and on and on about this. SOME (not all) hospitals, clinics, etc (and I know this to be a fact) will send the junk to the service and let their home people do the gravy jobs. Yet, the people that work for the services risk their pay every day because of it. I didn't choose to work for a service. Was basically forced into it. I love transcription, ABSOLUTELY LOVE it, but am seriously considering training for something more secure. Just haven't decided what, yet. Maybe nursing, but I'm not a young person anymore, so I do not know.
Hang in there. Maybe with help from above, you can make up for it all in the next couple of days. I truly empathize and sympathize with you!

Plus, try taking vacations! Not happening. Luckily my contract with a hospital got eaten up by one of the large services but it was the best thing that could have happened. Now I work for a company and THEY have to worry about getting me the work and a paycheck on time.
I was making more money but I'd rather let someone else have the associated headaches.

I think the new payroll company keeps overlooking me, and often I have to ask for information that seems to be sent to everyone else (For example, my benefits paperwork wasn't sent until I asked for it.) I will have to ask again to have the 401k info sent to me. I have no paperwork on this. Did you get anything yet? What is the deadline for cashing out? TT hasn't given us info yet on their match, have they?

about needing your paycheck when you need it. I am living paycheck to paycheck (usually not making it that far) just like 90% of MTs are. But if the funds were to be released on the 5th (Friday), they still wouldn't be available until Tuesday at 6 am, at least at my bank. So if they released them on Monday it would be the same thing, there at Tuesday at 6 am.

I agree with Mrs. Webber completely. I couldn't have said it better myself! The only thing worse than not getting paid on-time is not getting paid at all. Unfortunately, there are companies out there like that, which I found out the hard way with TSI of Illinois. If you have been considering TSI, save yourself a lot of trouble, and don't bother. THEY DON'T PAY!!

I just had to laugh. I too was on AV, weren't they just the best? And no special considerations either. The only peeps who stayed on AV were the ones who didn't care...and I don't care what the managers said...horrible, horrible, horrible.

I completely understand what you are saying, and......
that could be my problem. I have the BOS on my computer, and I look up everything that I can think of that could be different from what my prior employer wanted. Maybe I am overlooking stuff. It is just so frustrating.
