You are aware that other companies pay a flat ASR rate? sm

In Reply to: Webmedx ASR - 80% reduction or what? TIA - Looking
Some pay as low as 2 to 2.5 cpl for ASR editing. With Webmedx your rate is based on your pay - and some MTs are making considerable productivity increases (40% and above) using Webmedx ASR, so they are actually making as much as straight transcription.

My account has an 800# but I have a flat rate plan because of sm
my college kids and it is only a few dollars more a month than not having it. I set it up as a business line with unlimited long distance when I started with KS at their suggestion. It only costs me $54.99 per month and I have kept it because of the kids. Long distance charges aren't like they used to be. I used to pay $400 a month a few years ago with a different company. This is so much better.
I cannot get flat rate plans in my area...SM
I presently use One Suite but am reimbursed. I used to use Vonage but it does not work well with the account I am presently on.
Does Transcend pay a flat hourly rate
If so, how much?
No, I am not paid any flat rate and I told that recruiter
I gave my notice, but he continues to ask me. Of course, I have not given my notice and will see how this job plays out. One thing to note is the recruiter claims I have a great account that many would be happy to have. May be he is worried about fabrication.
Webmedx pays a flat training rate for 3 days. nm

No Long Distance Charges...they pay flat rate phone plan or use internet

I am not aware that MQ is starting people at the base rate.

Rate Companies
I'm reading good things about
MDI, WebMedx, Keystrokes and OSI. Someone with knowledge, please rate on a scale of 1-5, 5 being best for pay and MT friendly.
Thanks in advance
Not all companies pay 1/2 rate. get over it.
Do you think the companies can ask for a rate sm
increase every year from the hospital and clinics they service? No. As a former small owner, I can tell you I wanted to give raises but simply was not able to b/c the clients would not pay more. It's esp hard in this economy to keep up.
Webmedx and other companies. What pay rate for VR? (sm)
I work for MQ now and they pay 70% of your regular transcription line rate for voice recognition/editing. Just wondering about Webmedx and any other companies. Thanks in advance.
Who are the good companies that do ASR and pay a decent rate?
I have been an MT a long time - 19 yrs and I am interested in learning ASR, but I need to get informed and rate, companies, realist expectations on lph, etc. If you can help me out and share your knowledge, I would really appreciate it. TIA. I am going to try to line my e-mail in here, so you can e-mail me if you would like.
companies that do not post line rate...
In some of these postings (I'm talking mostly about the big nationals here), the recruiters spend LOTS of time talking about what they have to offer but are noticeably silent about line rate. If a company has so much to offer, it should be proud of the line rate it is offering. It always seems like they are trying to rope me in in some way & then will spring the bad news on me once they have a captive audience, like a bunch of used car salesmen.
If I don't see a line rate next to pay/compensation I just substitute embarrassingly low & move on to the next listing.
I've had the thought that the listings should be divided into Big National and MTSO --- and within that, willing to show line rate and not willing to show line rate.
Anyone else?
Lots of companies pay 1.5 times line rate
for holidays, but unless you work all day it doesn't add up to much. My company pays for us to take the day off and then if you work you get your line rate, plus get paid anyway, or you can take another day off in the same pay period.
which companies pay fair line rate with designated accounts? nm
x
Why are all these companies forcing VR at half rate? Are they losing money?
nm
That is a flat-out lie.
I happen to work for that company in the QA department, and we do not dock lines for sending to QA. That wouldn't even make sense. We're also paid by the line -- so you're saying we cut our own pay just to spite the MT? That's crazy. To the OP -- don't believe everything you read on a message board. This poster was obviously a disgruntled ex-employee.
It flat out says
in the BL that things will stay the same as it pertains our accounts, pay rate, and benefits for the near future. I could see why someone would be worried. I had to read the BL myself after reading the other person's posting as I had not read over it yet.
To each their own I say. Everyone has different life circumstances and has to really assess things and make a decision based on their life situation. I think it is wonderful that there have been what I consider a lot of postings from my fellow MTs and to hear different view points. Unfortunately, I have only really heard 2 that are the total opposite to what I would consider an overwhelming majority.
That is a flat out bogus lie.
First, they don't have to give ANY reason and can let you go -- it's called employment-at-will and it's how virtually every state in this union operates.
Second, working "off the clock" is NOT FREE LABOR for MQ. They are still paying you. You simply are not eligible to receive benefits. You also have advantages such as not having to follow any certain schedule and not having to work any certain number of hours...only a line count minimum to make per payperiod. There are pros and cons of both.
While both types of positions work in conjunction with one another to help MQ function, it is the employee position (NOT the SE positions) that give them their greatest strength.
Get over your rotten attitude and stop spreading lies.
They flat out lied to me then. They said
they do not get any kind of pay at all. Hmmmm....
They are upfront with the pay, flat 0.08 cpl with benefits...
incentive of 0.0850 at 1800 lines, 2000 lines 0.090 cpl.
They flat out refused to take out mine.
One of the many reasons I quit. (Obviously, from the posts on this board, I quit just in time.)
My condolences to those of you who were treated badly.
These are the times I wish I was paid a flat fee
Hello,
Just wanted to vent. Work has been slow on my primary account and I have been juggling around about 4 different back up accounts. Sadly, for the last 2 days, I have been on a particular account in which it sounds like this woman is dictating through a pillow. I mean she almost sounds like one of the Peanuts teachers. There are so many blanks in my documents, because I just CANNOT hear her!! Even the QA said since I am new to account that one of my documents had some blanks, but even she couldn't understand what she was saying. Needless to say, it is taking me almost 45 minutes to do a 2-1/2 minute to 3-minute dictation. I am so irritated and angry. This is really cutting down on my production. Not to mention my que is filled up with this SAME dictator. Sorry I had to vent, but these are the times I wish I worked for a flat hourly rate.
One of your premises is flat out wrong
Even as a receptionist, a person with experience will indeed be started at a wage much greater than a person with no experience. Had you done any research before making that assertion, you would have noted that almost every job posting states that salary is DOE (perhaps you aren't familiar that acronym- Depending On Experience) or other ads that will state salary commensurate on experience.
When I started in the field many years ago, I started (and trained) in-hospital. Even that, based on a prior Career Step that had given me a bit of a leg up. However, I still had to start at the bottom. It would be several years before I caught up wage-wise with people who had no edge on me other than a couple of years seniority.
So, frankly, I do not believe that a fresh MT should be making what I make with over 20 years, even if merely for the fact that I will not require the company resources in the form of QA that a newbie will, and because the years have enabled me to type across the board instead of needing to be spoon fed from the same bowl of chowder every day.
But if you flat-out think someone SUCKS, you should quit. Do everyone a favor - sm
you can't be doing a good job for the company if you obviously despise them.
Very large line count is a red flat to QA
In the previous company that I worked for, I was typing 1600-1800 lines a day. I lost that account and was switched to a new one. On the new account there were ALOT of templates in pain management (which I transcribed). If they were not already there, I made my own. My line count went up over 2000 lines a day consistently. First thing you know, I started getting audited - and often. That was fine with me because I got 98, 99, and 100% a couple of times. Did you line count go up significantly like that? Now if you are making critical or major mistakes, they are going to keep a check on you. If it is punctuation, just take note and don't worry about it.

Yeah, right. Heard this before. They flat-out consistently over hire.

Offshoring of American medical records is flat out wrong and...
a security risk in some cases...
Yes, I am aware of it. sm
I struggled and struggled when I first discovered my company was offshoring, but then I realized that I have bills to pay and a family to feed; which comes first for me. I cannot afford to just give up 5 years with a company and start over with new docs, new accounts, etc. It was taken a little while, but in all honesty, the work that I edit from India is pretty good. There are a few things that still throw them for a loop, but for the most part, they are not as bad as you would think! I actually do way better doing editing/QA than I did transcribing, so this is where I stay.
(from above), as they must be aware of them by now.

I'm an IC with DSG - now aware they do this.
//
sorry - s/b noT aware they do this.

I was not aware FN had VR
do you mean Voice Recognition or were you doing QA???
I am aware of them
because I almost took a job with them, and I'm glad I didn't. What I hear is never good. If you Google I'm sure you will see discussions about them from this site.
no VR at all as far as I'm aware (nm)
x
Please be aware that...
they have more VR editing jobs than straight transcription, for which you will not earn enough to buy groceries...the pay for editing is very low no matter where you work.
Yes, I'm well aware of that...
If you took the time to read my post, I said that there are others who make more. You are the one who has such a difficult time believing it, not me.
Yes, I am aware
That's why I was hoping to find someplace that kinda paid as you go. Someday when I've hit the lotto it might be an intriguing business concept- a true on-call perdiem type service. Until then, though, I guess I'll just have to learn to drink my coffee black and thrive on Cocoa Wheats and Ramen Noodles.
Are you not aware of the
unemployment numbers climbing as we speak? Getting into a new field even if you have the right education is no piece of cake in this job market. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't.
The reason people try to stay with MT is because if you have years of experience and the education, the health care field is one that is relatively recession/depression proof. To go out on a limb at this time and try to get into a new field/job is highly risky. Who is to say even if you do manage to get the right education that you would be able to get your foot in the door with no experience under your belt? Then, how are you going to pay off your education debt? That is what a lot of college grads are facing today.
A lot of the MTSOs are highly mismanaged these days. The left arm does not know what the right arm is doing and in many instances very talented MTs with years of experience, dedication and devotion to this industry are finding it a sticky mess and are jumping ship early lest they get mired into madness. That does not mean they are not looking elsewhere and darn well should.
So please let's not knock our fellow brethern when they complain about what they are going through making a living in this industry. Let's all be empathetic and listen and try to empower rather than put down. There is no job in America these days that is a anything to right home about. If people say they love their jobs and are making gobs of money, you might ask them what planet they are living on. We don't need to hear the tough love approach at this time. This is a serious business and it is being seriously mismanaged and a lot of MTs are unduly suffering due to the callous and thoughtless approach of the powers that be.
for MQ STAT employees tier rate applies to ME rate as well and how calcluated?
for a STAT MQ employee: Does anyone know if the tier rate is going to be applied to the ME rate as well or are they going to go with the 80% of the MT rate for each tier level? If the tier rate doesn't apply as well to the ME rate then going by the 80% of the MT rate is less than if the tier rate would be applied. I'm sure that MQ is going to go by whatever keeps money in their pockets. Guess this is a question for the supervisor tomorrow.
Thank you. We do not pay for spaces, and we are aware of all the
very very good arguments about it. We feel our line is a true 65 char line, unlike some other services, we pay for headers, footers and everything on the page, and we have volume bonuses, we reimburse for flat rate phone plans, have bonus days off for volume, have given a raise, some small, some better, every year since we began 7+ years ago, and always have work. We try to fit people to the type of work they like, ops, discharges, internet, lanier, acute care, etc. We give high volume producers a few accounts daily so they don't run out of work, and lower producers just one, or perhaps two if they wish for insurance. We don't jerk you around acct to acct daily like I've read on this board of other services, we have a wonderful QA staff and support for all new people, growing every year so no one is cut short. We have almost all the original MTs who came with us when we started, and we hope that speaks volumes. SOmetimes it's not how much per line but how much can you make per hr, or per day, day in and day out with a service, and be treated with respect. We are not for everyone, but we hope we are not dismissed offhand because of the space issue without one really knowing us as a company.
And besides, they are already aware of the problem
I just wonder how they are going to resolve the issue. I don't suppose they can unhire the recently hired MTs? I wonder if they hired them at a lower rate than the oldtimers and just figure if the long time MDIers quit then they are paying less?
Please be aware that Transcend is
accounts in the near future, so if you like VR that is for you. But they are only paying half, so if you get 8 cpl for MT, you only get 4 CPL for VR. Also, no incentives or shift differentials and they require you to work on weekends. I don't know about the other one.
Are their clients aware?
If I were a client of theirs, I would look for someone else to do my transcription. If I were a patient of this client and if I found out that the client knowingly supports this sort of crap, I'd look for healthcare elsewhere. Heck, docs come a dime a dozen!!!
It all comes down to the customers--that's US!!! The American citizens who trust that our medical records are (1) kept confidential and (2) are done correctly IN THE USA!!!
There should be a way to inform the customers of HIS's clients. First and foremost, we, as customers, as Americans, need to boycott the physicians first--the ones who are sending American money overseas!!! There are PLENTY of other docs out there who support the USA and want to keep the work at home. They'll gladly take my money!
Persnonally, I don't want my medical record entrusted to overseas folks who, for the most part, hate us to begin with. They barely speak a word of English and they certainly do a pathetic job at trascribing. I've seen the damage these folks can do to medical records.
I think that we should boycott MDs who are paying HIS to transcribe for them.
If we don't stand up for ourselves now, what's next????
Just be aware that all accounts
on VR and they only pay you half your line rate - so if you are making 8 CPL, you would be paid only 4 CPL, and also no incentive for production, no shift differential, nothing extra, just 4 CPL. Also it is very, very hard to double your production to make up for the half pay. I felt I was mislead when I was hired about eventually having to go to VR (not given a choice) and what it entailed, low pay, etc.
Thank you. I am aware of that. I am wanting
Thanks for your input.
Not that I am aware of. As it seems that most of the "nationals" are going there, maybe some d

You all may not be aware that there are two MediTasks
They are not the same company. The web address of the one which posted a job offer here is as mentioned above. There is another MediTask with the web address of www.meditask.net. I am only personally familiar with the meditask.net as that is the company I work for, a great one, by the way.
No bonuses that I'm aware of - s/m
Only been there a couple of months, though. Schedule: You pick either a Sun-Thu or Tue-Sat schedule. You have a 24-hour window to make your daily line count. Minimum required line count is 700 lpd. Need a day off - just tell your supervisor.
I wasn't aware
I wasn't aware that there was a pay cut, although I've only been there a year. I know there are some accounts going to VR, which apparently by definition pays less per line (I've not done it yet). I know that every time they switch platforms, I seem to struggle to make my line count (about 920), which is coming as a bit of a shock to me, as I used to be able to push out 2500 lines a day, albeit actual counted lines instead of the calculated lines everyone does now. If I sit chained to my desk day and night, it only will get me at most 1400 lines. Apparently they do have levels of account, so perhaps people getting bumped to the easier, non-ESL, limited formatting accounts are being made to take the pay cut to the rate paid for the lower tiered accounts.
