You and your hubby sound like awesome parents! sm

I also think that what the OP posted may have been misconstrued. I didn't see it that way at all. Of course, you may have been talking about me;) Anyway, I just don't understand how every topic gets into a flame war. There are a lot of assumptions and fabrications people are pulling out of the air here just for the sake of a good argument. I'm working two accounts trying to stay afloat and do have to make up work on the weekends. The entire point of this whole conversations was regarding this new fad of MTSOs offering only two schedules. Sadly I'm starting to see it more and more. What's even sadder is that many of these are IC positions with no weekend differential! We all have to do what is in the best interest of our households. I'm glad you've found something that works into your homeschooling schedule...as hard as it must be! Hang in there!

Absolutely awesome awesome platform. I love it.
I believe the concensus is you either love it or hate it. I personally love it and make lots of money.
Any IC's who are single parents- How do you manage financially?
I want to try IC'ing but afraid to take the plunge!
Yeah, work ethic! My parents were wealthy
and both inherited big bucks from their parents. My mother never worked a day in her life, including not caring for her kids. My Dad had a nice job. They made me work starting at age 12 to 13 as well. Work ethic? I went from being a kid to having to be an adult at 12. I never did anything fun on the weekends with my peers, like football games, soccer games - I had to work. I worked every day after school, and every weekend. And now I'm still plodding along working in my 50's. My kids don't have to work at 12 and 13. I want them to enjoy life while they can. This old work horse has great ethics, but had no childhood.
Same here, my hubby puts out
He chose the better plan so I don't have to fight for referrals and pretty much anyone takes our insurance. It is a rather nice luxury. However, I thought that someone down the line told me that if you have a lot of healthcare expenses, you could write that off on your taxes. I think that is why some companies will set you up with flexible spending accounts. I am no expert on that though. Maybe someone could comment in that regard. Between the kids, my husband, and I though paying a $20.00 copay is a lot better than paying full price for those office visits. It seems like it is always something especially with kids. Now that we're getting a little older, all of the preventive stuff needs to be done, so it sure is nice to have that health insurance.
dear hubby
.
Hubby starting school for this
and is not picking Andrews or MTec. They both want big deposits, will not work with you. Hubby can't get a PT job to raise that much money due to after effects of chemotherapy, but we can afford a monthly payment. We applied for different financial aid packages and loans, but either make too much or too little. So we are picking another school that my friend is currently enrolled in. I called and talked to the person that does the hiring at my company, that also hired me, and she said they would not have any problems with that school.
I think we are in exactly the same situation...EXACTLY. My hubby says QUIT!
But I love to work and have always loved this job. Sounds like we could be each other. I had five companies I was interested in, so we shall see. So far, I have turned down the other two jobs...I am so stressed I am afraid I will be taking on MORE STRESS by leaving! Good luck to you, and feel free to email me any time...we could commiserate! 8>)
I knew it was something to do with hubby but not sure if it was dear or sm
damned or darned or divorced. Thanks for clearing that one up for me.
LOL Remarkable is right. I was just telling my hubby s/m
how sick I am of the whole remarkable thing. What is remarkable is how they think that repeatedly telling us we are remarkable will make us forget that our families are starving (metaphorically--or perhaps literally, in some cases).
Has your hubby & son's work start
slowing down, like not many jobs around? Mine has been off since October and only started at the end of May this past year.
We always dreamed of taking our vacations in the middle of winter when he was off, too, but every year, the work is less and less for him. Yet his broker has given what little work there is to his favorite guys and he was told some of them are working a day or two a week. It's frustrating. For his type of work (federal and state highways), he needs a broker and there is only one around here. Plus, he still hasn't been paid for work he did in October (2 whole days). We're afraid the broker is going under and, if that's the case, I guess DH will be forced to retire early.
My hubby works for a company who is
self-insured and our premiums for family coverage are only $200/month with a $500 deductible. It's great - when hubby had to have bypass surgery last fall they paid the entire bill with the exception of less than $2000.
Hubby has stuttered his way to a 6-figure engineering job...nm

my hubby worked for union company sm
years ago in Michigan and we paid absolutely NOTHING! It was wonderful. But gone are the days for that in the state we live in now. No union!
Says the retiree with a hubby's pension and a new motorhome.
Really, GP, you usually come off as sympathetic and understanding.
But get real. Who are YOU, of all people, to nag and snipe at a woman who needs to feed her children?
What, because you and hubs are living high on the hog, you think everybody else should suck it up or shut it up?
Disgraceful.
I have to. Hubby is unemployed and it's our only income right now...can't survive on unemploym

I love MT, but I am also so glad hubby has steady income and excellent benefits!
He retired with 20 years in the air force and has a retirement check from that, as well as standard and very basic benefits that we can use without paying a whole lot. He has worked full time since retiring from the air force (he was 40 when he got his 20) with excellent pay and awesome benefits that we pay a very low premium for. I used to make excellent cash as an MT when being paid on a gross line, but now I make maybe 20K a year with no benefits of any kind from my job. Now my income just supplements his and is for the extras we enjoy.
Are you sure the sound quality was the platform and not your sound card? Also, I don't know of ma
services that pay "down time" if the platform is inoperational. ALL software has its share of problems. It's the nature of the business. When you were hired, did you sign a contract accepting the terms regarding PTO? If so, what could you possibly complain about since you did, afterall, sign the agreement? Did you have a good relationship with your QA Editor/Team Leader that you could ask questions about account specifics?
My understanding of the VR is that it has been in development for a number of years not to be released until the fine tuning was complete. It would seem to me, and I am in no way affiliated with Transcend, that provided that VR is good then earning a line rate as an Editor would be beneficial, if that's how Transcend is planning to compensate.
All in all, I would say that if anyone is interested in working for Transcend or any service for that matter, make sure to ask the services Recruiter specific questions. If what you're hearing sounds good and makes sense, go for it. If what your'e hearing is not all that you thought it would be, move on. However, you MUST take what you read on forums boards with a grain of salt. While some posts regarding various services may be legitimate, others may not be.
Good Luck!
MT Manners
I love challenge. Hubby is self-employed, too as a tri-axle owner/operator. No bennies at all unless

C.C. You are Awesome
C.C. Thanks for always watching out for us!
AWESOME
TransTech is a GREAT place to work!
and they are AWESOME
to work for and with.
AWESOME!
U go girl (or guy)! Keep us informed about your new job and congrats!
Then that is awesome!
Best of luck!
Awesome!
Been here 7 years, back before it was bought out. There is endless work and that's NO joke. Small management staff, pay on time. Only drawback for some is using the C-phone. No hassles, nobody looking over your shoulder. You just work and get paid.
TRS is awesome!
I have worked for TRS for just over 2 years and couldn't be happier. TRS truly cares about its employees and it shows. I can't imagine working anywhere else.
YOU ARE AWESOME
Very well stated! I am VERY interested in the 3000 lines/6-8 hours. WOW! Can you emaiil me and share you knowledge on how you acheived this goal. Do you do this consistently, daily? I think I am pretty up there usually coming in around 2000, but I am very interested in how skilled, quality MTs come in at 3000 a day consistently??? Please share you knowledge with me so I can try it. Thank you for the great post! I am so frustrated reading this line count stuff. I love Transtech and my sense, as good as it can be in this remote working situation, is that they are honest people and wound not intentionally mesh with line counts.
Awesome!
That is an awesome rate. Usually it is 4 cpl. What company is this with?
That is awesome!
A friend told me when he went to RT school (a long time ago) he was taught by physicians. I heard nursing school used to be full of practical experience too.
Awesome!
I ended up typing the report over again, but believe me - I will NEVER forget your instructions on accessing a lost report, and I will get some cardboard ASAP!!! Thanks very much...
AWESOME
4-1/2 years and don't intend to leave. Great, great, great company.
Awesome!
I start tomorrow. I'm glad to hear that our supervisor is good.
You are AWESOME
You get the picture!
Awesome!
I worked for them for a couple of months. The work was very easy, but the paychecks were a little slow!
awesome post above. thank you for saying that!
x
I work for MDI-MD and I have had awesome help from QA.
Never anything negative, only helpful.
They do and the lines are awesome
nm
Wow! Awesome hop! Congrats! nm
If they are supposedly AWESOME
why do they have so much turnover and why are there so many posters who worked there and left? Don't you have to wonder about a company that is so great but still has to advertise?
This is awesome and is what this board
should be about!! Thank you.
awesome company
AccuStat Carolinas is a great company. Myself and many co-workers all keep in touch across the country as we all work for AccuStat and we all love them. The people are great to work for, pay is on time and the work is plentiful. The managers really help and get you going so their support is the best I have found in this market really!
Thumbs up for this company for sure!
They are growing like MAD! This is an awesome
company. Definitely not overhiring. I have been here almost two months now and I have never been happier with my job. The accounts are good, the people are amazing, from management to tech support and even the general office staff. They treat me incredibly well and many, many others on here say the same.
Awesome! I got the job and start really soon.
My husband is happy, but cautious, after all that has gone on recently. But, I sure believe this is an answer to a prayer.....and an angel must be looking out over us here. Thanks again for the kind words. It is a good day today! :)
lee perfect is just awesome nm

Awesome company...
I've been with them since the end of March and they don't expect you to start out at 700 lines a day. I started at a very low number (don't remember off hand)and have increased it by 50 per week. I will be up to 700 lines per day by the end of the May. Platform is great and the team is of people are awesome to work for, too. I plan to go full-time just as soon as I quit my other very flex part-time company and the two places are like day and night! MDI appreciates their people! Do yourself a favor, if you are even remotely interested, check them out and talk to their recruiter.
Wow that sounds awesome! nm
xxx
AWESOME. Did you hear
that AHDI/MTIA is now wanting MTs and editors who are entering the workforce and those currently employed will need to approach professional credentials the same way all other allied health workers do – as a necessary investment to engage in professional practice in this industry. Basically elevating the medical transcription certificate program to an associate degree by 2016?
Awesome post to you!
Ditto all around.
Penny is awesome!
I know everyone has their own opinions and experiences with people, but I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Penny Whalen. She is a great recruiter and a great person!!!
Awesome, prayers go with you
Wow that is so cool. My prayers will be going with you that the audience will have open hearts and ears to hear this dilemma and do something about it.. You are a credit to us all for standing up for our profession... Thanks for what you are doing..
awesome, are they flexible?
I have no problem sticking to my schedule, but since I won't have any vacation for awhile are they flexible? Say I want to take off a Wednesday, can I make it up on Friday or Saturday, or am I just out of luck?
My DH is off during the summer, so we try to take a weekday to go do something with the kids once in awhile and avoid the crowds!
Awesome post, and I do the same.
Also, as far as TAT, that's why they shouldn't rely on just one IC to pick-up all of the work. If the MTSO wants to only use one or two people to do the work so that the TAT is met, then hire employees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, I feel way better and am so glad someone else agrees regarding the IC positions.
The MTSOs are free to abuse other MTs in this industry, but not me!!!!!!!!
