Most of their stuff goes to India (nm)

Can you saying..work going to India.. I knew you could. All we get is the awful stuff. Why dont they
send that garbage to the folks in India to do. They have about as much chance of being able to do it as we do.
There is tons of stuff in the archives and if you'll
scroll down the current page you'll see lots os posts about them too. For the most part everyone seems to be very happy with TT.
sometimes you'll hear that there's a new account coming on board ...
sometimes that happens, sometimes it falls through ...
I'm not saying that they absolutely don't care ... but particularly if you are an independent contractor, it genuinely is not their problem.
Either way, the people who are willing to sit and wait for work will stay ... I've been one of them ... not ready to switch companies, need the lines to pay the bills.
I remember when, first of all, work was often backed up (and ALWAYS out of TAT -- the first 7 or so years I did MT) these were hospital accounts being done done by local companies who had history with each other ... The national bought out and underbid the smaller companies and one of their big selling points was TURNAROUND and they agreed to penalties into their contracts ... IMHO, many turnaround times I've heard of are silly -- ER reports and STAT H&Ps/Consults do affect patient care and could justify a 2-4 hour TAT -- most other work types could easily fit a 12-24 hour TAT with the option to flag as STAT.
It was great to be able to work any hour of any day -- now it's much more iffy and harder to make up lines if you have an unexpected down time. JMHO.
You keep coming back though right?
Obviously, you love it.
Only a few accounts have gone to VR and one is already coming back. sm
I spoke with one of the managers in the office about a week ago, and she told me that there have been over 20 new radiology accounts since the first of the year with more than 25 more to start by the end of the year. I am not worried at all. When the account I was on for a few years went to Powerscribe in January, they put me on another account and I never lost so much as one day of work.
Thanks for coming back to post this. "smile"
.
I'm sure because the work is coming back a real mess..sm
These companies think they can breeze by with their overseas MTs, and sure they can if they have enough back up by seasoned US MTs and editors. Once the proportion becomes unbalanced, and they have more overseas MTs and less US MTs, the mess will start to pile up. It really does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out. In time, it will come back to kick these companies in the rear. That's why I always say an experienced MT makes a much better transcription service owner because they would never put themselves in this situation; clearly able to decipher fantasy from reality and not just the big $ signs. I am not referring to this company, but any MT company in general.
Less than a month. You will get it back, just takes some time coming
nm
They'll outsource to India. nm.
I refuse to work for pay that low. I'm worth more than that.
Hmm...all the mail keeps coming back saying that their STMP or whatever is rejecting my email addy.
j
You'll have too much down time and their Indian techs are IN India! Pay is late, too. nm
s
Does MDI-FL outsource to India? I saw something a while back on here about MDI-FL MTs
not having enough work to keep them busy because when Transcend took over, the work got outsourced to India. Is this still the case?
You'll regret it. Indian techs in India, late pay, lack of communication. nm
b
I edit the work that comes back from India. (sm)
Not sure why they did not tell you the truth. That REALLY bothers me.
I'll back you up - see msg
I'll back up the princess reply up there. I worked there too. They did lose their biggest account recently. The turnover there is very very high. Work levels are low.
don't lie - it'll come back and bit you.
Be up front. Try to maximize/emphasize the experience that you have that would transfer to acute care, but don't lie or misrepresent. That will only come back to bite you in the butt.
Acute care can be harder sometimes. Depends on the type of account you have. I've worked accounts where I had 20 facilities feeding in to my queue so I rarely had the same doctor. At that point I was just doing consults and discharges, so no templates so to speak. Lots of stock phrases, though, so I really built up my expander. I worked another acute care account for another company that was just one hospital. That got to be okay because I had the same docs all the time.
If you haven't done acute care before or in a long time I think the hardest part will be some unfamiliarity with phrases, medicines, bacterias, etc. that maybe you haven't run into before or in a while. I know that was the worst part for me. The other big difference I have found between acute care and clinic work is the quality of the sound files. Clinics have better equipment and they generally have the hand held dictation machines that the doctors use. Acute care doctors use the telephone to call the report into the system. The sound file suffers as a result.
The folks in India would stab us in the back in a heartbeat.
I'm sure they'll be allowed back
I was hoping this board would give in, but they have, and that is a MAJOR disappointment.
Thank you. Hopefully I'll hear back from them!

They got back to me right away, but I don't have a second line and don't want one. They'll
s
Thanks a million! I'll be back....

Fair pay ... you'll wish you were back to 7 cpl.
The company you refer to shows its true colors once you get settled in. They hire ICs at a fairly decent wage 8.5-9.5 but by the time you get through with tons and tons and tons! of UNPAID demographics. with fairly difficult acct. specs on its own...you'll wish you were back to 7 cpl anywhere else. What's unfair is that this CHARITY work is equated into their 98-99% quality requirement''... Not paid for training. While on QA, they only let me do 5 jobs a day....easier, they say, on the QA/editors. I told them 5 jobs a day wouldn't feed my kids or pay my mortgage.
E-mail me if you wish for LOWDOWN on this company
I'll back Peter up on that
Be glad they didn't call you. They're horrible, and I'm not one to post nasty things about companies. There are several really good companies around that will treat you well and have decent benefits. You can e-mail me if you want. I know exactly what you're going through, it's hard to see through the BS when everyone promises you the moon.
If you'll read through past posts you'll find lots of
recent info. Why do you need menitoring if you already work as an MT. Unless you do clinic work most companies will require you to work at least one weekend day, at least initially.
India, Michael. The MT world is going to India. Wonder why? nm
!
If you'll read the archives you'll find out everything
you want to know, none of it good.
Probably figure you'll want Way more than they'll offer, whatever it might be. :) nm

If you'll read more carefully you'll see
I was referring to AFTER she's missed out on a job, having a friend do sort of an audit to tell her what what was wrong with her test she submitted -- not cheating.
I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM
The accounts weren't too horribly bad. The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production. When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day. We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest. Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day. Then, they started counting lines. Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.
Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind. Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense. Then, we are told only check the blanks. I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word. Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota. I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on. When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards. Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production. So I left.
There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production. I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler. There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.
I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there. Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.
Good luck to you!
Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
offshore to India, it's OFFSHORE (off shore), not outsource to India.
nm
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.
Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test. I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned. I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years. I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind. I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully. I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
I saw this coming!!!
I saw this coming when they first started us on this new platform, and eventually, ALL the accounts will be editing. These MTs really don't care because it is not happening to them right now!! My opinion is that EVERYONE will eventually be editing and not typing and at the 40% lower rate per line. When that happens, all of these Transcend cheerleaders will be just like me, sitting with their mouths hanging open in disbelief that it is happening to them. I used to be one of those cheerleaders and now feel bad that the 2 people I referred to Transcend have now had to go get other jobs because of lack of work, timeouts, downtime, etc., etc. Why would they want to pay 8 cents per line when they can pay for those same lines at 4.8 with editing. OF COURSE, everyone possible will be editing, and it will not take long to do it either. We had about a week's notice when we went to editing, which I felt was also inconsiderate, and they will do everyone else that way too--just watch and see what happens!!
Like I said before, TRANSCEND SUCKS!!
Ex-Transcend cheerleader!!!
Where do they keep coming up with
these numbers? I have been an MT for 15 years. I am 35, starting my MT career at 20! Do they know exactly how many American MTs there are, if so I would like that number. I have a hard time believing our average age comes in at 59!
I think that is coming up soon, at least by
the letter on the new MT/ME Rewards Plan.
!!!!
I know where you are coming from Glo
I applied at Spheris. The lady called me, and then called back a few minutes later to find out why I left a certain position. She was real shady sounding on the phone. Then, she proceeds to tell me that they have no positions at the current time. Really strange? I usually just see the writing on the wall so to speak. If they call me, I'll flat out refuse to work for them as they were very unprofessional in my book. JMO! And again, are still advertising like every day. ???? I don't get it or maybe I do?!?!
I just don't see where you are coming from....
EVERY email that I have sent, I have received a reply.
And I think it is great that the QA person explains the blank because that is maybe why you had the blank in the first place - that maybe you did not understand the exact nature of the word and could not find it anywhere. I would rather have more information versus not enough information.
There are a lot of difficult dictators but if everyone did a few of them then the difficult dictator(s) could be shared and one person would not get bogged down with them. That is what they have tried before - one person sent an email asking everyone to take ONE job of a particular dictator so it would not be all on one transcriptionist...Now come on, that is fair - ONE JOB for ONE BAD DICTATOR. I know it cannot be like that all of the time but that just shows that they do try.
I really have not had any of the problems you are talking about. But I can only speak for what I have seen and from my own experience.
Their pay is ALWAYS correct and ALWAYS on-time. And they do pay better than most places. They have an A+ in my book!
I still believe the day is coming when MTs
nm
know where you both are coming from,
got laid off myself and I did resent them and MYSELF for all the times I never took off, short-changed my kids and events for them, stayed even off the clock a few times because no OT, while the same 3 people were always the ones not coming in for one reason for another. But you know what? I would probably do it again. To thine own self be true, is that how it goes? I have to live with myself and they are all on their own. Fortunately, I have just enough time to get to bed before I fall asleep without medication. Some people can't help it and have to take something, but that's a condition, not guilt, keeping them awake. This was not aimed at those people. Good luck to all of you.
Doing VR, know exactly where you are coming from
Others who talk against it, never tried it have no idea how it is as far as a piece of cake. I saw the other posting about when it gets so good to replace you BUT having worked on the same platform for several years now mine does not stay letter A perfect month after month, always a need for an MTer to come in and be there for reports that need to be cleaned up. I have said some platforms surely are better than others but if you have a bad 1, then you need to find a good platform. There is so much bad and forth on this subject, the ones hating, like I said, never done, bad platform or only see that the salary is dropping (for a short time as you and I know) but that is what is pushing these postings against. I was never totally against, like you up in age and glad that the hands/arms had not worn out as much as I worked. Glad you are liking.
I had the same thing happen, went back to MQ, went back to KS and could not be sm
happier. I am on a different account then the first time and it is as if it is a different company. I have a great lead who leaves us alone most of the time but is there when I need her. It showed me that you can have a different experience within the same company.
I have to say that in the few weeks since they have the new office, it is much more organized probably because there are a lot of people there all the time. I had the pleasure of speaking to the new HR manager who was HR at a hospital, got my questions answered about insurance as I am going to full time and had a live voice pick up the phone.
Not all change is bad. This is one company that has changed for the better.
I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around. My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
That is too funny coming from you!
Darlin....I quit OSi a little over a month ago along with everyone else!
Would not surprise me in the least. Something is coming not sure what.
:
knew that was coming!
Three things are for sure - death, taxes, and that you'll start your vendetta the minute anyone mentions OSI!
Yes, and new accounts coming on...sm
constantly.
Of course it is coming from your check, just like an
employee, but they are submitting the $$ to the IRS instead of you having to do quarterly filings.
I was just coming to ask these same question.
I hope somebody here knows more info for us.
