Does the boss tell your husband what he can do with DH's personally bought/acquired tools while not doing electric motor repair? At a job site, does the boss forbid your husband to keep a granola bar or pack of gum or anything else in his toolbox? Does the boss insist on periodically rummaging through the tool box to make sure that DH is keeping everything in his version of good order?

I doubt it, because I don't think any other profession would permit such intrusion into OUR use of OUR equipment.
