Surgeons get in and out, no emotional ties, and their dictation is the same. Get on, dictate the operation, technique, and hang up.

No long histories, no lab work, no assessment or plan, usually just fast op reports and off to the next patient.

Personally, I love it. My life is fast-paced, my work is fast-pacef, and I thrive on it.

Not every MT likes the op reports, some would rather have the consults or psych notes....me, I absolutely love the op notes. You get your rhythm going and usually it remains that way throughout the day while doing Ops.

I would not necessarily say your pay is higher or line count is higher one report versus the other, but your production is higher, hence more money.

If you are looking for the higher line counts per report, than it would be consultations.
