Just be aware that not all Escription accounts pay the same. I worked for one company on Escription
struggling to maybe make $50 in 8-10 hours. I didnt know the difference as that was my first job on that platform and I just thought it was not a money maker. Then, I switched companies. I average $20-30 an hour and once I made $50 in an hour. I tried yet another company and I was lucky to make $9 an hour. The bottom line is that not all companies are alike, even though they use the Escription platform. What I have found is that goes according to how they set it up i.e. paying for footers, headers, spaces etc. Just dont be shocked if you dont make what you think you will. The companies know how to set it to where it benefits them and not you. As is the norm, not all companies are created equal out there regardless if they all use the same platform. That is what I am getting out.. Good luck.
checked the CEOs salary of Transcend. See inside.
Maybe if we lowered his salary we wouldn't be paid peanuts.

To the people at Transcend that had their line rate reduced by 40%, have you checked with any
attorney to see if this is legal. I didnt realize a company could just reduce your income like that with no advanced notice and that be legal. I know I would be checking with someone on the legality of doing that.
Transcend pay escription.
Anyone know what they are paying for escription?
Transcend and Escription
For those who currently work on this platform...are you also required to do lots of typing, or is it mostly editing. How much do they pay per line? Are you able to earn a decent salary on this platform with them?
I have an offer from Focus, but don't think it is going to work out because they only pay for 15 lines on reports where there are blanks only.
Transcend Escription cpl ?
Looking to see what Transcend pays for VR. Have switched to VR account. Would like to hear if you ever make any money with VR. Also anyone's thoughts of Escription, likes/dislikes.
I edit for Transcend on accounts using eScription. sm
I really like it, make more money than transcribing, and am in and out of more reports. And it's a lot easier on my wrists. I've always found the people nice to work with, in spite of the horror stories being related about the hiring process.
I have no experience with any editing programs other than eScription being used at Transcend/MDI, but you could request assignment to accounts using eScription. One thing, since new accounts (ones often needing new employees) typically are transitioning to VR, you could start out heavy on transcription of reports as the computer learns to take over that job, with a few weeks of lots of corrections to eScripted reports, and then finally doing almost all editing on a trained account. I think it's going to be that way on any account new to VR with any company. Transcend did adjust the pay rate as the account I was working on progressed so I never lost money and eventually ended up making more. Good luck wherever you end up.
Anyone worked on both eScription and ExSpeech?
I would like to know if one platform is better than the other. I appreciate your input.
Which companies use Escription VR ?
nm
Escription companies
Who is working for a company using escription and what is your pay rate? Do you enjoy working for them or is it a hassle? Thanks!!!
What companies use escription?
I've never used it, but am interested in finding out more about it. Thanks!
Companies with Escription?
Can any of you suggest companies that use the eScription platform? I work for a company currently who uses editscript and i love it. Another company i work for uses beyondtxt which i hate. i am thinking of looking for another company who uses escription to replace the beyondtxt company. any suggestions?
Escription..what companies....
use them? I am specifically looking for which MTSO contracts UMass Memorial Healthcare. Thanks!!!
Looking for companies that hire IC on escription..sm
Other than Sten-Tel and Alphamed, who hires IC status to work on escription?
Thanks
What companies hire PT escription ...
TIA.
Meant to say what companies use Escription!! nm
xx
Sounds like TTS - Most companies using eScription run out of work often. nm
x
Any companies out there willing to train people for eScription that have never used it before but
,
Companies w/Escription accounts that offer affordable family insurance??
I realize that affordable is subjective so whatever information anyone can give woudl be appreciated. The majority of Escription accounts offer IC only. Thanks
Glad it worked for you. I have worked for companies
that were more reliable and paid without the delay I had. Maybe you started before they started doing that but it makes no difference. I TOO am a single parent.
You are not trying to argue? Sounds like you not only are trying to argue but you are just waiting for anyone to post anything about the co on here so you can just get out there and respond, which seems to be the way I have always noticed it. It's like all the MTs or whoever that work there are just waiting to respond.
This board is about the good points and bad points about companies. I am telling my experience.
The people were nice people though, but my experience was not a good one and I will not say it was.
I can go a week after the end of payday and even 10days later but that's it. Kids would starve.
I worked for Transcend!
I know nothing about Transcend. I worked for JLG
back when they were supposed to be a really good company and they paid by gross lines. But I was on an account with the CRAPPIEST mushmouth dictators I have ever heard in my life. My account must have been just overflow of the dictators the hospital MTs didn't want to do because every single one of them was bad. I made okay money, but I think with gross lines I should have been able to do so much better - and I could have if the dictators were decent.
Okay, then one time there was no work on what I usually work on so I moved over to ERs. I was in heaven! The dictators were so good and I worked right along and made great money that day and I was thinking YEAH - THIS IS THE WAY TO GO! Except then I got an email telling me not to do the ERs, because they wanted to save them for the people who couldn't do anything else. Oh - so because I'm a very experienced, GOOD MT I have to get stuck with the crap and you give the newbie/know-nothing MTs the GOOD dictation? Um, I don't think so!
And now I see they pay by the 65 space line instead of by gross lines. Just wouldn't be worth it to me.
I have worked for MQ and Transcend
I cannot recommend either of them. I don't know about Spheris. Good luck. You might make more at a smaller company or hospital. That is what I did.
worked for Transcend
Two years ago, I worked for Transcend. However, at that time, they seemed to be over-hiring, and I kept running out of work! Eventually, I went somewhere else, but left on good terms with them that if they ever needed the help, I'd consider going back. They were actually good to work for, the people are nice, the communication was great. The only thing was I got ALOT of ESL that were extremely hard (have 13 years working as acute care MT). Good Luck!
I worked for Transcend, but unfortunately
They were a good company as far as I could tell. Ditto above, plus they were true to their word and paid better than most I see posted here. I was on Beyond TXT as well. They hooked me right up with my specialty that I'm great at, and they answered all of my questions. Don't know about Sten-Tel.
I really liked Transcend when I worked for them.
it up due to a family emergency. It went very smooth from the time I was contacted by the recruiter, equipment, and training. All was going great! They pay on time. They paid for training. Unfortunately, when I contacted the recruiter after a few weeks had passed, the schedule was not one that I had originally signed on for, so therefore, I couldn't take the position. I highly recommend Transcend! They were wonderful and so understanding!
I have worked for Transcend for several
months and I think it is okay. My team leader and ROM are both nice. For full time you have to make $900 per pay period. That is not hard to do. I don't know what the benefits are for part time but full time seems pretty good. They also gave a $25 gift card to Walmart for Christmas. That was nice.
Overall, I am happy there. Hope you will be, too.
Since I have worked at Transcend
they've never given a shift differential or weekend differential. You can't cut what doesn't exist.
Since I worked on 2 different VR platforms at Transcend
I find it extremely hard to believe that you are getting handfuls of reports with only 2 or 3-keystroke corrections in the entire report in a day. In all the time I've worked on VR I can't even count on 1 hand the days I've had a handful of 2 or 3-keystroke corrections. I think you're exaggerating a bit or I've been extremely unlucky to get the kind of VR editing that I've gotten for a year. On the other hand, I can pull an 60-line OP report in from autotext in less than 4 Keystrokes and do this repeatedly on OPs throughout the day.
This is a lot. When I worked for Transcend, I got a whole 0.025 extra for CMT. nm
xx
Would work for JLG before Transcend, having worked at both previously. nm

I worked on that account with a company other than Transcend.
It was the worst. I was glad to see it go. Sorry for whoever got it.
I love Transcend. I've worked for MANY
x
Transcend has Escription and EX text. Medware has ex-text.
Deventure I know has Escription but I am not sure if they hire PT or not.
I've worked for many nationals i.e. Webmedx, MDI-FL, Transcend, etc. and
I like Medquist the best.
Not true. I worked at Transcend for years and things have
For years people at Transcend were very friendly and the only time things got really heated on the forum were over personal opinion posts like politics and stuff. Not any more. More and more people are to the point of not knowing what to do with this company anymore. People who have been there years and years have quit or are quitting, and I think most of the peers that are happy are relatively new and haven't seen the downward spiral. A friend of mine quit a while ago and said she got a letter about a month after she quit asking her to sign a release saying she wouldn't take Transcend to court or be party to any claims relating to her employment with Transcend. If things were that hunky dory they wouldn't be so scared that they need to ask people to sign waivers when they leave.
Well that makes sense because had they really ever worked at Transcend that would know the pay rate
for editing has NEVER been 3 cpl. They have paid me more than anyone has EVER offered so that poster (Be Careful) is not a legit person who has worked for Transcend.
I worked for a lady's service who was bought out by Transcend
a few years ago and they offered her a position in the home office. She sold, had the job for a few months and then she was terminated. I know for a fact that Transcend said in a paper article in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution that they outsourced because could not find enough American MTs to do the work. Now what I find surprising is how many complain on here about sitting and waking for work for Transcend. Wonder how that happens?
When Transcend bought the company I worked for we were told they did not do IC, just PT/FT... sm
so this is news to me! Maybe they allow different things for different companies they buy. I also understood a little while after the merger that all accounts would move over to their platforms, but now I am reading that maybe not all of them did with other mergers. I am sorry you all are going through this! I remember how it was thrown on us so quickly too.
Some of the companies that Transcend acquired
DID offer various shift and weekend differentials; TRS did, for instance, as well as a production incentive. These things have been gradually phased out over time; for instance, the production incentive was phased out as of September 1, and for those of us who achieved it more often than not simply had the incentive added onto our base rate.
I have worked for MQ, Spheris back when it was Edix, Transcend and OSI. TransTech is by far the bes
The pay is decent, probably not the highest in the business but not the lowest either. The benefits are good. Pay is always on time. Great bonuses. Great communication and most of all I really like the people and it makes me enjoy being an MT again.
He worked for YOG, JLG, MDI-MD, QT, and God knows how many other companies. sm
He had groupies who would follow him wherever he went ........ and then also groups who detested him.
Me, I just never understood his overinflated opinion of himself, but then again, I suppose a healthy ego is good for us. Good for him, I guess.
How many companies have you worked for?
It sounds like you have had a lot of experience with different companies... Just cuious.....
Because I worked for all 3 companies
and lo and behold there she was. I used to wonder why I couldn't get quick answers from her, it was because she had her finger in too many pies at once. She is no longer at one of the companies but she is still at the other two. The difference was I wasn't double dipping, I was getting paid per line whereas she was in salaried positions for each company. I just had one FT job and two IC PT jobs.
The last 3 companies I have worked for have all...
overhired. They weren't scrambling to keep the positions filled. They certainly weren't working to keep skilled MTs from leaving. They were concerned about their TAT and only their TAT. They offered incentives to clients for their business by guaranteeing discounts for reports that were out of TAT. The larger MTSOs were working on technology to promote quantity rather than quality.
Instead of thinking at the next level, step back for a second. In order to be paid for their services, clients HAD to have their transcription completed. Before NAFTA, the clients compensated fairly for their in-house or remote personnel. Even after the larger MTSOs tried undercutting the independent MTs, they were still paying a fairly high rate for transcription...sometimes paying the MTSOs up to 18 cpl (or more). After NAFTA, they found they could virtually eliminate their transcription departments (if they were smaller hospitals/clinics) or at the very least cut them to bare bone because it was saving them a tremendous amount of money by using offshore outsourcing services. They were doing the same things all the large companies were doing. Now in order to make the money, the MTSOs have to produce large quantities to compete, which can only be done by foregoing quality.
So, when thinking at the next level, I do agree with you that there will be consequences of the tax changes. But it was a very poorly thought out plan to begin with and now we're reaping the consequences of it. I just don't agree that there is a shortage of American MTs when there are so many MTs scrambling for work.
Nothing from Transcend, although I heard others got gift cards or at least a card. I've worked th
several years so if it was just a case of being forgotten that is still pretty pathetic. How do you forget your employees, especially when you get junk bulk mail from there regarding nothing that involves you..but at Christmas you were forgotten. Oh well, I have work and for that I am grateful so I'll be nice...
Anyone know of Escription companies that offer IC status. I do not want employee status but would
like to stick with the Escription platform at all possible.
Transcend, MQ and other companies using voice recognition thoughts .....sm
It amazes me that I'm seeing so much negativity on the board here regarding the new speech recognition programs out there and the companies using them - and yet I see posts that in the companies using these systems most of the accounts have not been switched to these formats for editing. It appears to me that many of you are fearing the changes and fussing without actually working with the systems to see what it can (and can't) do for you and your productivity.
I've been in this industry since the 70s and remember when carbon paper was replaced with copiers. Yup, some MTs (back then called "typists") thought they'd be replaced by a copier because they would no longer be typing say a Social Security Disability Physical 3 times to give all of the copies necessary .... and yet they weren't replaced.
Next computers came out. "The sky is falling and we'll be replaced by machines" was feared by many.... yet the field is still growing in jobs available.
Some of you old timers may remember programs like Foxx and other word processing programs out there way before WordPerfect was even dreamed of... and when you began typing with those programs you feared your job would be replaced. Nope, still working all of these years later.
Then came along WordPerfect, followed by Word and now other programs that are better and help you be more productive - without taking away your job.
Face the facts, folks. Technology is changing and with the government mandate that all medical records be on an electronic format within a few years hospitals have to try to find ways to cut costs to be able to afford this.... and speech recognition is the way to get this achieved. Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance reimbursements continue to decrease to hospitals so they have to cut costs where-ever they can. In the 1990s when I worked for a cardiovascular surgery group they would be reimbursed approximately $7000 for a triple bypass, and now they're lucky to get $1800... and yet the cost of running a surgical practice has gone up.
There are now even robots to assist surgeons instead of nurses but yet a surgical RN is still in the operating room, because there are times the robot isn't going to be able to do what is needed for the surgeon. Are surgical nurses screaming that the sky is falling and they'll be replaced? I'm sure that some are - but others are realizing that they still have plenty of job opportunities still in the operating room because the computer will be helping them, not replacing them.
The goal of speech recognition programs is to help you do your job quicker and more effectively, not replace you. Think about that dictator from heck who talks 100 words per nannosecond while eating - the one you think nasty thoughts about the second you see his/her name pop up onto the screen. I've seen some of these same speech recognition systems produce a darned good draft - and I was able to edit this report much faster than I could have even typed the motor mouth one time, much less go back through 3 times to fill in my own blanks, because the system helped me out on deciphering the jibbery-goo.
The bottom line is this: You shouldn't knock such systems until you try them. I've got MT friends who thought they would hate editing and actually love it once they got used to it.
With these systems infiltrating the market you can try to run and hide from them, but eventually they'll find you (just like the copiers, computers and various software programs have). Another positive is that by companies using these programs that ARE helping keep your job here in the US. The foreign-based MTs have a much harder time editing reports because they're not familiar enough with the language to easily spot the errors the system makes that the veteran MT would spot quickly.
We'd all love to go back to the days of getting paid 15 cpl for a gross line of work but if you ask around, in the industry the average company now collects 12-14 cpl, 65 character line, for transcription and much less than that for edited reports. Therefore the high salaries are gone and it's all due to competition. Back when the going rates charged to hospitals was 22-25 cpl for a gross line the higher line rates were abound, but that has all changed not only in this industry but others. For example, look at the airlines - used to be that if you flew from New York to San Francisco Angeles it would cost you around $700 and now you can book it for around $260. That's what competition has done to that industry. I'm sure that none of you will call Delta and insist that you pay $700 for that flight just to help save the jobs of their employees who are looking at the strong possibility of that airline bankrupting on them.
Therefore I encourage everyone to try new things before you knock them - you just might even like the new things on the market even better, and you'll find your hands and wrists suffer less wear and tear.
Which companies use VR for a platform besides Transcend, Sten-Tel and Focus? sm
Am looking for part time editing job, but cannot load EditScript. Tried Transcend, but the VR just disappeared out of the queue. I posted my resume, but just get offers for MT, of which I already have plenty. Would like to post directly to the companies that use a different platform, if I can find them. TIA.
I totally disagree, I love Transcend... there are a lot of companies out there..
instead of complaining, why don't you find another. Life is way too short, as someone said.
I am glad you know who they are; I don't. I have worked for several companies
as QA and in all but one case, the QA manager was an MT with much experience. The job I have now, the QA have a lot of latitude with the MTs and mentor, but none of them have the attitude of feeling better than the MTs or project it. It sounds as if you are trying to talk yourself out of it. I love my job and I love working with the MTs. It is all in what you want out of the job how the job will be. You must like doing QA though because you will not make the hourly rate that you would make doing MT work if you were a fast MT (like I was). I enjoy doing my job. I cannot find anything that I can say against QA other than the fact that there are cheap companies out there that try to get away with paying QA by the line and I would avoid them like the plague because that's what they are. They truly cannot care about quality if they pay on quantity for their final product.
