Where did I say I didn't make my line count? Geeze, sure hope you're not an Editor with those eagle eyes there.
Seriously, name one thing I mentioned that's not true.
FYI, Spheris has MT formus where folks can discuss things amongst themselves. All of the issues I brought up have been bemoaned on the boards. Just passin' on the info, friend.
Lighten up.

Need to learn to read between the lines
Anyone knows you have to take what you read here with a grain of salt. The company I work for, which shall remain nameless, never has anything posted about it on the boards. Why? They are a good company, treat the employees well, and don't ask us to work for peanuts, rupees, whatever. Nobody posted anything about Acusis until they started all this shuckin' and jivin'. So you won't hear about the good companies for the most part, although I think KS sometimes gets a bad rap it doesn't necessarily deserve (and no, I don't work there).
Maybe you should learn to read - like the entire sentence!
nm
I think you better learn to read better, I didn't say I don't work weekends
I said I get to spend more time with my family by working 3rd shift on the weekends and evenings. I have to work either a Sun-Thur or Tues-Sat shift just like any normal MT who cares about the company they work for and their TAT requirements.
Yeah, that's how I read it.
I wanna be you!!!!!!!!
nm
probably not what you wanna hear, but (sm)
MQ offers all that you are looking for. For employees, they provide equipment, pay half of your Internet or phone, whichever format you use, have reasonable benefits..though I do not get them-another story, fair pay-on time no less, regular raises, and steady work. I sound like a recruiter but I'm not, I'm just an MT who is very happy with MQ. My advice would be to give them a try, what have you got to lose? Good luck, whichever way you choose to go!
I'm not a disgruntled MT wanna-be. I'm
and she's a suspicious, condescending, controlling person. She doesn't like anyone she can't keep under thumb.
It's no different discussing her than discussing companies.
Go away if you don't like it, Laurie. We see your rose-colored glasses -- they have a fracture in the lenses, dear! LOL
Nah, but don't wanna name names. nm

wanna warn us on who that was? nm

You might wanna check with HR
I thought the same thing. I was told by HR there is a credit given to offset the difference.
wanna macro
Hi, If anyone has keyboard steps to set up a macro for speech to delete a period and replace it with a comma and one space instead of two, I'd love to hear from you. Also, the reverse would be good. I'd like to deleted the comma, place a period and have two spaces afterwards instead of one. I got the code on Productivity Talk from Ed Webber, but it was like reading Greek; I was lost! Or, it someone knows of a book I can purchase to learn to do these macros, that would be good too! Thanks to any who reply!
lmao!! yeah maybe I'm the recruiter...suggesting that my co-worker is the problem. yeah that make

Ha, wanna hear something really funny
I left them for another job and then was going to get rehired part-time. They called me and said they couldn't rehire me part-time because they found out that the day I quit, I was actually going to be let go for not doing a good job! I said, what are you talking about, no one ever said anything to me. Then Lee sent me an email saying that it was a big mistake and never mind. Then the account I was going to go on was going to be starting up in a week, then a month, then I never heard another word from them! Then Karen called me quite a while later and said they had an account coming on and she would call me the next day to get set up. I said okay for the extra work. No call, ever. I decided that enough was enough and that things would never change. I see by current posts things still haven't! Ha. Go figure!
Also, I was quite offended as I have never been let go from anywhere and have never had a complaint about my work. But then I had to remember who the source was and just let it go.
Hey I wanna get padi more for less keystrokes!
you definitely wanna pick TransHealth
constant workflow. Good accounts. Good pay. GOOD PEOPLE.
Don't wanna run out of work? Beware of OSI's ad
They can't keep people on that clinic account because they are ALWAYS RUNNING OUT OF WORK since the work is offshored to India!
JLG'ers wanna take a bet on which day checks
and the 10th is on a Friday ?? Maybe on the 15th??? Still no word on DD??
If you wanna hear from them, you gott BUG THEM!!!!
Send an e-mail to HR off the website... Do this daily until you hear from them.
I did take the test and sent in resume at same time though. I kept bugging them... I said I would like to know how I did on my test and if they received my resume and how I could not wait to work there....
Now I work there.
Do they still use DOS software with a dial-up modem? You don't wanna do that! nm

I don't wanna put words in the company's mouth
because I don't know if the insurance type/coverage varies from state to state or not. I have to provide insurance for both my husband and I (through DeVenture) and well, that does take a bite out of the ol' paycheck I must admit. However, when I was getting just coverage for myself, so long as I made 7000+ lines a week, they paid 90% of the cost, and that wasn't too shabbyof a deal at all.
You might wanna look down a ways. BrokeMT can't seem to get paid by them.
I'm pretty sure she is not going to recommend them.
Wanna work for an hourly QA position?
1. The reason it is hourly is so they can pay you on a 1980's pay scale. It is nothing more than bait to use as an excuse to pay you less.
2. Many hourly QAs tend to dump jobs they don't want for someone else to do the dirty work. The high producers who care about their work end up doing most of the work.
3. If you get paid by the line you make at least 50% more. I left an hourly QA job about a month ago for one that pays by the line and I doubled my income within two weeks. By working on the long jobs other QAs don't want, I make a lot of money.
4. Hourly QAs make about half of what good MTs make.
5. QA in general is one of the most thankless jobs around. I left MT for QA so I could share my knowledge. What a joke. The MTs argue with you and never stop making the same mistakes. Not only did I lose a lot of income, I hated coming to work every day to get the same reports from the same lazy MTs and then get nasty emails from the same MTs. I got stuck with the jobs the other hourly QAs didn't know how to do or didn't want to do. Why should they care? They get paid no matter what.
Don't accept job unless you wanna work for free
Your right DIT ONCE was a great company to work for..That was when Donna Dana had ownership in and ran the company..DIT has continued to pass bad checks since about October of 2008. Oh yeah, they say you will get paid..and they do send out replacement checks...but they bounce also...They have changed banks three times...I could go on and on as well as MANY others...There are MANY, MANY emails circulating from employees or former employees about these issues. They are JUST about to get themselves in legal trouble as there are MANY lawyers who have been contacted on this and are working on this issue...It's is a very sad situation for what was once an AWESOME company to work for..

Yeah, yeah, I spelled health wrong -
I am very angry right now and my fingers are taking it out on the keyboard.
There's an old saying in life, justme- a wanna-be public defender...
it's better to be silent and be thought of as an idiot, than to speak and remove all doubt. Now, you removed all doubt....
I wanna think that OSI has an ad up stating that now have benefits for part-timers..Other than that,
I do not think many do. Everyone was saying how Wedmedx did, but when I checked into it, their idea of PT was like 35 hours or something, but I could be wrong and I do believe they are also fairly rigid about those 35 hours. I think anyone that offers health insurance is going to ask for a fairly strict schedule and probably FT but you never know. You might also check into your local hospitals. I know they do have insurance and usually pretty good for PT.
Wanna share your words of wisdom on who these companies are so we can be spared...
nm
Wanna give the rest of us instructions on how to make a line count like that, aside from doing all
m
I read all read all the threads in the "companies" section
of another board, MT Chat, and Googled each one that got positive reviews. If they had a website and a way to apply online, I did so. And that was how I got hired at TRS. They were not advertising at the time. By sheer coincidence I applied to Transcend just before I applied to TRS, and they were not interested in what I had to offer at the time. And now they've got me anyway, since they bought TRS. Interesting how things work out sometimes.
Companies with negative reviews, or company queries that got only a terse I sent you a PM reply, I passed over.
Not the OP, but I want to learn OPs.
I've done a few of them, but not enough to feel proficient on them.
Never too old to learn
I don't think it is old at all. I went back to school when I was 39 to learn MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION as I had previous secretarial experience for 20 years but wanted to further my career in the medical field and work at home, which I did. My family was all for it. Good Luck! amj
You can learn a lot
from the Andrews medical transcription website. It is an excellent school, and if you enroll you can learn a lot about the business as well as anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and all the ins and outs of MT.
Well, you learn something new every day.
I live just outside Syracuse, and I don't think I've ever even heard of them or knew they were here. I'd be curious to know more too.
had to learn not how to learn
I have weekend cobwebs
Yeah, yeah, AND enjoy!
Learn something new everyday.
I was told I was being changed from DEP to DQS when I trained. So then I guess I really don't know what platform I came from. LOL!
there are MANY links there to learn....sm
about the company - the VERY TOP of the page - I almost missed it myself.....but there's all kinds of info, FAQs, and contact page for any questions you might have that the website did NOT answer for you.
Geesh, you can lead a horse to water, you cannot make them drink it.
And no, I wasn't the poster of that website - it was your reaction that got me curious and so I went to that website and there is a lot of info there....only at the top of the page of the browser......
Do not feel that way. That is how you learn
Actually, you click on the Reply by Email in blue. Good luck finding MTs!!
I don't think they are hard to learn, but they are much more
technical in the terminology, lots of equipment and procedure names that change all the time. It seems that each time a new batch of doctors come in that the terminology is different. They come from other parts of the country/world and they used different equipment or different techniques. Lots of stuff to look up - just like the new drugs.
It's easy to learn...
Not sure what kind of advice you're looking for... I don't think you should be freaking out. It's the best platform I've ever used and it's very easy to learn. I'm sure this isn't giving you anything helpful, but not sure what you want to know.
Oh and learn this new system..
Be an IC at 7 cpl, and do your assigned work and be our slave! What a joke...
Well sir then just let everybody learn the hard way
Give it a try, see if we're all lying and making this up. There are simply too many people that can confirm the same facts my dear. You will hear the same story over and over and over again. This is such a big fat lie that you're telling. I hope nobody buys into it.
You do have to learn what account? Sorry
if it's a dumb question, but what did you mean by that? You have to learn the account your given or...?
I want to learn escription
Some companies advertise that you must have experience in eScription to be considered for an editing position. Have any of you been hired for an eScription position without experience in eScription? I'm sure I can learn it in no time. New platforms don't scare me. Thanks for your input.
If you care to share your opinion of eScription, I would like to hear that also!
Do you have to learn the language?
nm
Learn from my mistake
Do not go to work for Robin Hall. To this date she still owes me over $800 and I can't reach her in any way. Phone, IM, e-mail, cell... nothing.
You need to LEARN to spell....
Don't you think?
HA! You chickennecks will never learn!
I told her to write that and sit back and watch the responses. You knuckleheads never disappoint! HA!
Yes, you can definitely continue to learn, but -
why throw away perfectly good money on a USELESS 'certification'? You won't get paid more money, and you'll have to pay every time you take it if you fail the first time. AND pay to continue to renew it. Biggest ripoff in medical transcription history. AND, all this by a company that gives Indian MTs a better price to take the test, and who openly promotes offshoring american jobs.
You'd do better to spend the money on a comfortable work-chair, an ergonomic keyboard, a better computer, or some new reference books. Getting a bogus 'CMT' cert. just helps to fund AHDI's selling of the American Transcriptionist downriver.
Do I really care about whether you learn VR
or not? Not really. I just think the people on here complaining so much either cannot do, have never tried doing, failure at it (if you say you can transcribe 2000 lines a day and then on VR only 500, give me a break). Unless you find a small company, most of the bigger ones if not already on VR going that way. Get the same answers on here from people who don't know any better: Gotta be management, gotta be newbie, gotta be slow. Umm, did I miss anything that is normally said with people who are proficient with VR? Oh, cheerleader, forgot that one. I know McDonald's is probably going to have to get new positions open I see so many here threatening to go there because they can make more slinging hamburgers than VR.
