Yeah, they said the same thing about the I-Pod, XM Radio and Serius Satellite radio a year or so ago

Just because a product isn't technologically perfect from the get-go (which one is?) doesn't mean they won't continue to fine-tune and tweak it until it is.
Deny all you want, but it's coming.

Nationwide consumer on radio said just this yesterday
Not from my lips. Elize Glink, who does a financially based show in Atlanta, was saying that. As for the part of people checking my credit, I have no problem with that as mine is without any dings whatsoever.
Radio program....word about offshoring sm
I had a chance today to go on a radio talk show that runs national, it is on a Christian station and get the word out about off-shoring of our medical records. As we already know, most folks don't know about any of this and they were floored. So at least that got out across the nation and may get some people questioning. I told them what all was going on with off shoring and the story about the VA hospitals etc. Hopefully this might also get something going. With Travelin MT's article that is coming out maybe this is a start of people being informed.
Good heavens, outsourcing Radio services see link
I have heard of NightHawks - reading radiology reports at night etc., now even the radiologist are at risk for job loss and lower wages just like the MT. Can be read as far away as India and sent back. Interesting article see link
I know a year or two ago satellite was okay.. (sm)
We had some sort of training conference call thingy over the net and some ladies voiced concerns with having satellite and if there would be any problems with getting a particular type of work done...at that time there was no problem. Again, this was at least a year ago, so I don't know for sure. Personally, I wouldn't say nuthin' and just say you have high speed internet and leave it at that.
It can be easier to ask for forgiveness than persmission when it comes to certain things, know what I'm sayin?
Oh yeah. Here's the kicker - I'm making $50,000+ a year with them
It's not about the money.
It's about the fact that I went IC with them and they changed the game on me.
Either way, I really honestly and truly have reached a point where I'd rather clean toilets than work for a transcription company.
I'd be treated better, and I'd feel a heck of a lot better about my own integrity.
Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing
..
Yeah, all that I know but curious about the Hancock thing.
apparently you did not get that?
Yeah, and the really sad thing is they will lose the GOOD MTs.
Yes, I too see a mass exodus of the good MTs as those who have no other choice but to stay at TT are stuck with VR.
Very disappointing, TT, very disappointing...
Went through the same thing last year sm
It was not nearly as bad as you folks had it this year but at least 3 times I had to "prepare" which was very time-consuming (especially in grocery store) shopping, bringing in supplies from shed, cleaning up, etc.
I lost power during 2 of the storms. Luckily I didn't have to evacuate. I can only imagine how much work one would lose from having to evacuate.
I did call my job before each storm to warn them I might not be in contact or able to work and they understood. Just told me to stay safe and job was secure.
Wishing you the best. Are you home now? Hope all is well. :-)
I think I got it. Same thing I got last year.

MQ did the same thing in less than a year. nm

Oh I just put that 25 year thing on sm
there so I would get experienced folks who get it about the ESLs, etc that we are required to do in this profession.
This account is one I did years ago when working for MQ. I don't think there is going to be problems with no work. I can get along with anybody and as long as they leave me alone I don't care. They even are asking about overtime so I don't think it will be a problem!
Thanks for responding.
I was wondering the same thing! As of last year, they
nm
Same thing happened at TT the year before in October, too.
For those of us left with TT for 2 year, there is hardly ever sufficient work to work your negotiated shift. Always asked to flex and move right into the weekends to get enough lines, if possible to even on weekends for everyone trying.
wow, good thing i turned them down earlier this year, thanks

Same thing happened to me last year. Got garbage. Left after 6 wks. Those w/

Nope, not a catch. The only thing you need to do to qualify I think is have been there one year in
to be eligible. They pay like four weeks at full pay (your average weekly earnings) or eight weeks at half pay. Your choice. They strongly believe that it's the right thing to do.
Same thing happened to me last year and when it picked up, it was crazy sm
For the rest of the year.
You aer required to work 3 holidays each year ... not sure about the quitting early thing. nm

Satellite is secure. Wireless DSL is less secure than satellite but
yet companies accept that. Satellite can be very secure depending on how you have everything set up.
Yeah, yeah, I spelled health wrong -
I am very angry right now and my fingers are taking it out on the keyboard.
my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)
two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year. Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea. I'm pretty motivated. (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes I'd say 40-50/week. I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so. Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.
that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.
I'm pretty motivated.
Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)

Satellite
I believe one is Transcend.
They had a ad once that said no satellite. nm
nm
Do not get satellite!!!
Satellite is a waste of money. I had it for four years and I could hardly work for any MTSO companies. Most of them do not allow satellite. If you have DSL or cable, please go that route. I currently use EMDAT and I remember the employer's ad said no dial-up or satellite with EMDAT. Good luck!!!
Satellite, anyone? (sm)
I found a great house out in the boonies and the only available high-speed internet is by satellite, a company called Wild Blue. Does anyone know of any MT companies that let you work by satellite, and has anyone got any experience with Wild Blue or other satellite providers? I appreciate the help. Can't move if I can't work.
What is so bad about satellite
In my experience with satellite internet, it has been way better than cable as far as outages. When I had an outage with cable, there was NOTHING I could do until it was back up and running usually by calling the cable company.
If there is an outage with my satellite internet, I can do several things that ALWAYS WORK.
EX #1: If it is snowing and my internet isn't working, I go wipe off my satellite with a broom.. Internet is back instantly. Sometimes I have to do this several times a day.
EX #2: If your internet isn't working and it isn't snowing or torrential downpour of rain, then unplug your internet and shut down your computer. Restart and then plug everything back in. Always works.
Only time I have ever lost internet was to torrential downpours of rain and the second it let up, my internet was back.
Am I one of the lucky few that this happens to? It is just so irritating to see not accepting satellite internet because of reliability issues.
I think sometimes people just use that to an advantage and it gives ALL SATELLITE a bad name - I'll just tell them I didn't work because my internet was down. Do you know how many times in the past 2 years I had to call off of work because of internet issues? ZERO. Do you know how many times I had to call off work because my cable internet was down? At least once a week. Not fun.
You can get satellite for $70/mo and
can get free systems sometimes if you sign a 12-mo contract. If you are unable to get a job because you don't have high-speed internet then look at the cost of that versus satellite.
Satellite
Does anyone know of any companies, large or small, that work with satellite (Hughes)?? I have just moved to a very remote area and broadband is not available. Any help is much appreciated.
Satellite
Years ago I was so naive that I thought I was cable when (because it was through a cable company) I applied that is what I told them and I had fewer problems than the people with actual cable connections or DSL, and I had more protection against tampering with my internet than I currently do with the best cable company in town. So, I am not entirely sure that I would not just apply and say yeah high speed internet connection.
satellite
I tried working on one of the accounts they now have when I had a satellite. It was just not compatible. I now have DSL, much better all around. I was working for MQ when I had the satellite and they had a great hospital, which has since gone to KS.
I have satellite...
I had cale for yrs ... loved it ... now moved to country had to get satellite. Yea its a little slower but seriously ..not bad and the satellite companies usually have three catagories ... FAST FASTER and FASTEST ... i only have fast... and its really not bad
Yeah, yeah, AND enjoy!
I think it depends on the satellite. sm
It's not recommended but there are MTs using satellite within the company. Ask the recruiter.
I disagree with you on satellite. Please sm.
I have had the DW4000 business edition for 4 years. I just switched over to the DW7000HNS. I can say my problems have been minimal over the 4-year time period. However, I do know there are a few companies out there that do not work with satellite setups due to VPNs and supposedly being able to hack into it. That is their loss. If you have the right setup, you can work with VPNs without any problem (I do now). I have even had a tech tell me that he could get into my network. I told him to go ahead and give it a try. Nearly 2 hours later, he said Ok, I can't. For every company not willing to work with a satellite connection (which can be safer than wireless DSL), there are 2 that are willing to work with it. So, just keep looking for those. :) I hope everyone has a great week!

Satellite okay for Keystrokes??
I just filled out a questionnaire Keystrokes sent me, and one of the questions was do you have DSL or cable...as I am on broadband/satellite I am now wondering if that closes the door for me? I do WISH companies would post on their websites what their internet requirements are, sure would save some time for everybody! So, anyone here who knows about internet for Keystrokes? thanks much!
Keystrokes and Satellite
They do post their requirements DSL or Cable. I have a friend who was turned down because she only had satellite so I'm think, that you do not match.
EXText/Satellite
My experience says no. The satellite connection I had just had too many highs and lows to be productive. This was on Dictaphone EXText. Hope this helps. IMO, Broadband is definitely the way to go if at all possible.
I use satellite for one account...sm
which is a web-based account and so far no problems, though I have only been on it a few weeks. The company seemed to think the satellite would be fine. My primary account at KS uses C-phone, so need a second phone line and ULLD. So obviously there are a number of different platforms, varying from account to account.
I also was under the understanding that they have put a freeze on hiring for the time being....but unless it says that on their website I don't see the harm in putting in your resume. Then when you get a chance to talk to a recruiter you can let them know what your internet capabilities are. I cannot get cable or DSL and was feeling discouraged about finding someone who would take me, but KS didn't bat an eye about my satellite. I was told that they have accounts which do require cable/DSL, but its not all of them....thankfully! Good luck.
Medscribe? Satellite okay? nm

Yes, I could get satellite but costs way too much

Most companies will not allow satellite. nm
