If only VWP was the future. It's not. The bad sound quality of VR is the future at this company.
Bad sound quality, technical problems, no expander, full editing, half pay. No thanks. I'm on my way out after 4 years.
Oh yee of little faith..
Things may go in a different direction, but with hard work, THINGS WILL GET BETTER. DUH DUH
TechSupport - you have definitely restored my faith in anything or anyone
related to tech support - don't care if it is only your posting name;-) You give some very valuable advice. THANK YOU.
I cannot believe, however, that it has come to this while we work in our home offices, generally on our own computers, trying to make a decent living. Good Grief, Charlie Brown.
I could not in good faith recommend SS
to even my worst enemy. I was in QA, had some of the worst MTs because they could not get and keep good MTs and a warm body was better than nobody. Management changed frequently. The CEO was so slimy that I felt like I needed a shower after talking with him. I can't remember her position, but she was one step above QA manager would send out e-mails with new terms/medications and they would be incorrect. I've been in this business for 22 years. I do about 85% ESL. I can do some of the worst ESLs (don't like to, but I can), but the accounts I had were beyond horrendous. Between the horrible dictators and the sound quality there wasn't enough money to make me stay. They still call me about every 6 months and ask me to come back. Only if my kids were going hungry would I do that and I think I would try prostitution first. I believe in producing a quality product, but I also have bills to pay and I have a life outside of work. I was not willing to work 12+ hours a day and be stressed out every day over the crappy work. There is so much better out there. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of jobs available currently with the mergers, VR, and offshore work. SS is always hiring and there is a reason for that. I can assure you it isn't because they are getting a lot of new accounts.
If you spend time going through the archives you'll see posts where MTs didn't listen to the negative posts and accepted positions, only to come back within a month or so and say that all the negative stuff was absolutely true and they would apologize for not listening to us.
After that idiot that came on saying how they fired us because we weren't good enough, etc. I put SS lower on the list than they already were, which was hard to do when they were already at the bottom. That person was not there when I was, did not know who I was, did not know what position I held and anything they said was because they evidently weren't taking their meds and there was no shred of truth to it. This person attacked anyone who said anything negative about SS, not just me. I understand that person is no longer there though.
Sounds Great.. I have renewed faith but I didnt really doubt they cared..
They are pretty great to work for..
lmao!! yeah maybe I'm the recruiter...suggesting that my co-worker is the problem. yeah that make
x
Yeah, yeah, I spelled health wrong -
I am very angry right now and my fingers are taking it out on the keyboard.
FUTURE.NET
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone know anything about Futurenet and if so..what do you think of them. Thanks..
Future Net
At the risk of being called a spy or whatever, I spent 8 years with MQ. FutureNet is the BEST company I have ever worked for. They sure nipped the cherry pickers in the butts. They have work coming out the eyeballs and if you do your job according to what you promised, you won't be bothered by anyone. Best, best, best company ever.
future net
It sounds like you enjoy working for this company. I am not happy with the company I work for now as most of the dictators are ESL. Are the dictors for FutureNet mostly ESL. Any info you can give me would be helpful. Thanks, D.

Future Net pay
They've NEVER been late to pay me, and I've been there for about 8-1/2 months. Maybe you should find out if your invoice went through okay. I'd contact the office if I were you.
Future Net
Has anyone heard anything about them? I haven't had decent work from them in two weeks or more. Are they going belly up or do they off shore? I need to get serious about them becasue they sure aren't serious about their employees. I don't want to work for ANY company who offshores.
Future Net
Does anyone have any current info on Future Net? Everything in the archives is over a year old. Do they offshore? Thanks in advance!
Future Net
What is the latest on Future Net? Anyone here work or has worked for them?
Future Net
Hello,
I was interviewed by them, took a test over the phone, which really caught me off guard and offered a position. Richland will be one of my sites and I have to do 2 days of training. Hopefully that will be Wed/Thurs or Thurs/Friday. I will be emailing the recruiter this evening as she was out of the office on Friday. They have sent me quite a bit of information (site specifics/format/general helpful info) and I am looking forward to starting. I hope that helps....
Future something
FutureNet maybe?
Future of MT
As a retired MT, who spent over 40 years in the business, I project that within 10 years there will be no such thing as a medical transcriptionist. I would not encourage anyone to get into the business now. Just read the posts and look at the job seeker's board. 2000+ hits on 1 job ad!!!!
Future-Net
Can anyone tell me anything about working for Future-Net? Thanks
Future Net is on the sm
West Coast and has many east coast clients. They need folks who in the east coast time zone. At least that was the way it was a couple years ago. They must be getting more east coast clients. Not a bad place to work.
You should always think about the future
when you have children. You either totally misunderstood, or you don't have kids. BT didn't mean not to think about the present at all, but kids don't get cheaper as they get older, they get more expensive which means you need to think about how you will provide them a secure future. I have raised 6 (only 3 left at home now) and believe me, you think about the future a lot!
Future Net
I searched for posts and found nothing on Future Net since 2007. Anybody worked there recently or employed there now? How is it? Do they have work? Are they flexible? I am an ex yogger and may be in the market for a new job.
Thank you
Way of industry
I guess what is considered a good salary has gone down since the last time I changed jobs. Sounds like you are talking about the same company I just left, only I don't consider anything less than 10 cents a line to be good after as many years as I have been MTing (and that is a cut for me). I guess its back to soliciting doctors and not working for a company anymore from the looks of things.
What is the top pay in the industry (sm)
today? In other words, if you have many years experience, CMT status, high quality QA review, work your schedule, and do high quality work, what per line can you make? What is the top right now? I presently make 8 cents a line and have for many years. I am curious how much farther companies are paying - or not? I thought it might be fun to see what others are making/expecting to make? Thanks for the input!
Only in this industry...
I'm wondering how it is that a whole group of SR editors allowed JLG to breach their original contract? This just goes to show you that a company can change the rules any time they want. All they have to do is threaten to fire you if you don't agree to whatever changes they feel like making. I wonder if any of the SR editors were able to collect unemployment??
BTW, I was hired by JLG in 2007, but quit on the first day of training. Too many RED Flags made my vision suddenly crystal clear.
WELL SAID, THAT GOES FOR ANY INDUSTRY..SM
It's only human nature to care about your work when it's appreciated and halfway decently compensated. When you have to scratch out a living, though, and feel exploited, well, who cares?
It's not just this industry
It's not just this industry that does things like this. I spent many years working the front desk in hotels - front desk and night audit. The executive office staff had paid holidays, etc. Heck, they had LUNCH BREAKS that the front desk rarely got. We did get paid time and a half if we worked a holiday, but depending on how cheap the management company was that ran the hotel, there were usually only 6 of those per year.
I worked for 4.5 years for a small, family owned insurance agency. It was amazing to me what the owners/family did that cost the company $$, but god forbid I actually take a day off sick.............
There's always a sort of a double standard between the line employees and people who are considered back office or management, etc. It's just the way the world works. It doesn't bug me. I don't have anyone looking over my shoulder making sure that I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing or interrupting me every 5 minutes to ask me to do something else that is an emergency because of their bad planning. I don't have to stop what I'm doing every 5 minutes to answer yet another phone call from a client. I never have to worry that at the end of the day I have 57 things started, but NONE of them are done. I don't have to work till 9 pm at night (having been there since 7 am) in a salaried position because the workday is so frenetic that's the only way to actually get something completed. I don't have to lay in bed at night wondering what is on my desk that I didn't get done that is going to get me and the company sued. I can have my TV on or not as the mood strikes. I can work in a T shirt and pajama pants, or I can get dressed like a real person again as the mood strikes. I don't have to pretend to be sociable to coworkers who make my life a living he!!. I don't have to deal with hotel guests who are unhappy because of incompetent management and complete lack of communication with the front desk staff. I can sit and have my coffee and play with my cats and then just go into the next room and go to work. On my lunch break I can take a walk around the block to clear my head and wave at my neighbors.
Life is pretty good, as far as I'm concerned. It could be and (for me, at least) has been a lot worse.
For those of us who have been in other industry.
Things are the same all over. Nobody gets recognized for the work they do until it's time for the retirement party. I suspect that since I work at home, I probably won't even get a retirement party.
I don't expect anything from my employer other than a paycheck. That is my reward. This Christmas, I am very happy I have a job. There are many people out there who don't have a job and would take mine in a second. It is 2 below outside, and I am grateful I have a roof over my head. Again, there are lots of folks who don't have that. I have food on the table and I could buy gifts for my kids. In my mind, I really don't have anything to complain about.
Besides, is a $25 gift card really going to make a big difference in your life? I wouldn't think so.
All W2s, regardless what industry,
company, etc., have to mail them by 1/31. This is the law, not just for MTs but everyone.
The industry would never have gotten as far as they have -
when it comes to screwing their employees if MT had been a male-dominated field. And what put it over the top was when the internet made it possible for MTs to work at home. Once we were isolated from each other, and the outside world, they just started a feeding-frenzy of rewarding themselves by siphoning off whatever profit and benefits was in it for us. Today, we pretty much work only for the so-called benefit of working at home. For me, the novelty of working at home wore off years ago, as I began to tire of the constant poverty level. Why women as a whole won't join together and stand up for themselves is beyond me, but that's how it's always been, and it's why sweatshops around the globe continue to thrive.
They still do now, but I don't know what the future holds. NM
xxxxxxx
Can't worry about the future right now...
My mortgage is not due in the future, it is due in the present. I cannot cut all my bills by 40% until Transcend figures it out so I have to make $ to pay my bills now--not later. Anyway--gotta go type for Webmedx, like I said. I have to pull myself away but will be back on later this evening. Good luck to all of you, and I truly wish you the best!!!!
Thanks, I'll try that in the future.nm

Future Net sucks....SM
No direct deposit, no benefits, minimal weekend incentive and now NO WORK. I can't put up with it anymore and I'm out of there......If you are looking for a good job, this is not the one.
What platform does Future Net use?
Is it Itype or something like that? Does Instant Text work with it? Which work Expander works with it?
INMT
I work for Future-Net and they sm
not a part of Spheris at all. I know folks who work for Spheris and even the pay scale is a big joke. Future-Net is the best company I have worked for in m 30 years as an MT.
I love Future-Net! I have been with sm
them since May after leaving a national after 23 years. I have never been treated with such respect for the skills I have. They hav eplenty of work, the platform is not difficult. I am classified part-time which is 500 lines a day/four hours and get no hassels, no pestering phone calls. If they want to ask a question, they e-mail you. I love it! I do a high ESL account but truthfully its not bad and some of the non-ESLs are a whole lot worse than the ESLs, so it balances out.
Hope that helps.
Waiting for Future-Net
About a week ago I received an email from Future-Net stating I had passed all the testing and a recruiter would be contacting me....I am still waiting a week later. Is this normal for them?
TIA
I don't see retirement in my future, unless it's the
:(
Has anyone applied to Future Net sm
in response to their immediate need for MTs? Have you heard anything from them if you have?
Future Net Info
Would appreciate knowing whether Future Net hires for employee status or only IC. Went to their website and unless I'm missing something could find no information on this, or about any benefits for employees. Any info of this nature would be very welcome. Thank you.
Future (something) out of Florida?
I am looking for the name of the company that operates out of Florida. I believe they do ER work and they have the word Future included in their company logo. Thanks so much!
Sounds like Future Net

For future reference...
I have found in my years that most places are far less concerned with format than content, in the belief that format could be individual based on client needs and any formatting errors could be quickly corrected in your first few days under the watchful eye of QC. That said, as a QC myself, I see many more errors related to content than I do of format once an MT has hit about a month on any account.
Good luck with your job search.
Well for future reference....
I would have the line counting program in place BEFORE I even gave my start date or whatever. Of course, if you were having so many personal or family issues that you couldn't even send an invoice, then you can't be outraged that you got cheated out of lines. Companies have certain deadlines as well and they aren't able to wait around and figure out how to get your programs up and running. I'm not sure what kind of company you worked for, but if it were ME, and of course it isn't, but I would have INITIALLY in the BEGINNING told them I was having an issue with a line counting software and ask what they SUGGEST I use that may be in comparison to what their other MTs use. IF they were rude, as you suggested, then I would have just not started working for them. But, to work, not able to count lines, not able to send an invoice in, the whole mess seems very disorganized, so you shouldn't be shocked that you didn't get paid. LESSON LEARNED.
BAD - ISR pay cuts in the near future :(
Some mumbo jumbo about how their fancy new ISR program will up our production, and thus we get pay cuts, since we have to be competative in the market. Funny how we are getting million dollar accounts, but yet they can't afford to pay us a decent amount. Knew it was coming, just was hoping to avoid it for another year until done with school.
You don't know much about how the industry works, do ya?!
ROFL
Change your schedule monthly? Oh, so the company should have to readjust and possibly hire more for one month just because you want to work different schedule next month and it leaves them without coverage for their clients (which, by the way, PAYS YOUR CHECKS).
You don't want annoying emails all day but you want communication on your accounts? LOL Which is it?!
Tons of work? Gonna take tons of line counts to get it done with tons of commitment on a set schedule to make sure its covered. ??!?!?
An account liason with a real person on the other end...blah, blah, blah. Can't read? Don't wanna read? Soooo, you think the company should take on more overhead to pay someone to sit at the end of the phone and personally tell you what you can and can't do?! LMAO
If all MTs did their work there shouldn't be any on weekends. Hmmmm....LOL I guess those who dictate on weekends are outta luck, huh?! ROFL Make sure they tell clients, "Uhmm, we hope we'll cover you on the weekends but because the MTs may or may not want to cover weekends we might not be able to." Yeah, that will keep clients (again who pay the company so they can PAY YOUR CHECK).
OMG this is all so rich. Just not enough time to continue on here...but you get my drift.
Get over yourself. This is a business just like any other.
Don't like it? Get out. Dream on with the "fantasy" job. Or, wait, wait -- BETTER YET --- Open an MT business yourself and let's all watch you put all these wonderful things in place and see how much business you really get, how many GREAT MTs you get, and how much profit YOU turn!!!
LMAO!!
The industry needs more new graduates like you ! nm
nm
I think the industry standard is using
independent contractors and you get neither vacation or sick pay.
Another example of how this industry has changed -
that's why many are leaving this profession. After 10 years, that is how you're treated. It's a shame - and very degrading.
I think this is probably the industry standard
.
U R so right! The MT industry gets away with so much unethical
If all MTs were to rise up one day, suddenly become VISIBLE, and make their voices heard, maybe the industry would be put on notice to clean up their act.
