even though I'm sure I did well on their test and got the mass E-mamil stating that there were some evening shifts open and they would get back soon as more positions open. Just reading about how great they are and me not even able to get hired made me feel, inadequate. Maybe, I'm lucky I didn't get hired?

In fact, in most cases, the CMTs were the least flexible and unable to take constructive criticism. Some didn't even pass the test. At first, I was quite shocked by this but I grew to ignore the initials. Therefore, to me, those intials do not cause you to stand out. Some CMTs were grandfathered in without ever taking an exam, and to my recollection, the exam even changed at one point, so not all CMTs are on equal ground with equal knowledge. Therefore, it does not accurately portray excellence, just tells you which ones took AHDI's test. That's it.
Honestly, I've been hired by companies that didn't test me.
I did not like those jobs one bit. You start out immediately being stressed because they're out of TAT and desperate for people. The work quality was terrible and I mean worse than any other place I've ever worked. With your CMT credential, I don't think you'd have a problem finding a decent job.

...after all these years with them I can't make a living, and I ROCK at what I do! Editing this garble CRAP, 2 years later that hasn't gotten any better, I have gone from loving what I have done for 15 years to dreading it, and making 1/5 of what I used to make. Utter crappage. :(

it'll be all right! I know how you feel though, at least I think I do. At one point I was offered a job with YOG and while I was thinking about it poof they were gone. I sure was glad I hadn't make the switch, I would have been back where I started. My best to you and I'm offering up a special prayer for you.

I've been working part-time with Amphion for almost a month--so far, so good. I came off proofing two weeks early, and the account I've been on has never run out of work. The staff I've worked with have been very pleasant and professional. I've been paid on time as agreed, and I'm happy to have a part-time schedule with no nights and/or weekends. I'm feeling optimistic.

I once worked for a company who failed to produce a contract--not until I threatened to leave them. When I typed up my letter of resignation after 3 weeks of working like a dog there, they finally presented a contract, and told me I would not get paid until they got paid, and that was usually every 8 (get that EIGHT WEEKS)! I hit the roof! I dare say they will be getting anyone who wants to wait 8 weeks to be paid. A person could be dead by then. I promptly left!

I've read WAY TOO MANY negatives on this company. I decided not to try, but as you can see by the other posters who also have a lot of experience, FOCUS is the one with the problem.

I think it depends on experience, account hired for, etc. I was hired at .08 per line sm
but after 90 days went to 0.085 and then 0.09 about 90 days after that. I am now at 0.0925 and have been there a year. I have to point out that the line rate might not be the highest but I can verify my counts, have plenty of work, get paid on time and have a great manager. To me, leaving a bad national and the headaches that went with it was well worth the cut in pay I took. Funny thing is that I took a pretty sizable pay cut but make more money ?!?!

I've landed in a similar place and I don't want somebody mucking it up. I, like NorCal, has an exclusive account. It's a wonderful feeling seeing there are 12 jobs there, and knowing I can go pour a cup of coffee, take a shower, check the mail, or even paint my nails and know that those 12 jobs, in no danger of going out of TAT, will be there for me. There are days where the account is light, but they are balanced by the ones that are bountiful. I have no desire to poach on anybody else's account and accept the light days as part of the rhythm of the job. When they add new accounts, I can ask for a piece of that, but until then I respect other people's work, and I sure as heck would hate to see this place turn into your type of snatch-and-grab tactics, because it's great being able to go to the bathroom without worrying about a vulture picking the work carcass clean.

I see some of these posts where people brag about making big bucks on their own accounts, and it just boggles my mind because their spelling and grammar are atrocious. Why am I having such a tough time making any money at MT with a 99.8% or higher QA score?

Here is my question.. kinda long..
I work as a trainer for a great company; however, the pay is just not there. I asked for a raise with no response. I have been in the MT business for 20ish years. I have and do perform QA duties, MT duties, etc when needed, but unfortunately the company I work for does not care. I truly love working with new MTs and new employees. I just want to find a company that wants the same. Any suggestions?!

Because she's not simply expressing an opinion, she is on a rant about a company she doesn't even intend to work for. If you don't like what you're offered, don't accept. It's that simple.
Sounds like there's a lot more than the MDI offer that has her off to the races.
There are constructive ways to present your argument and there are less constructive ways that make one appear a bit over the edge.
Nice way to pick on another poster's spelling though. I'll bet you're one of those delightful ladies that try to rain on everybody's parade who's happy, too.
Next time, check your own posts very carefully before you squirm in delight at finding a typo in another poster's post.

Ever analyze this kinda stuff???
Those ticker-tapes that run along the bottom of the TV screen during news broadcasts, such as local news channels, MSNBC, CNN, HLN, etc?
I love to watch those just to catch all the typos (yes, I sometimes sit and watch the news for an hour to catch the highlights and find myself obsessing over the typos the ticker contains, lol!).

May even be less and hour as the trend is going lower than 8 cents a line. Plus they keep hacking away at the lines counted by reconfiguring the system to give certain letters a value of this or that, or no value. It is a bad profession.

Uh, I have no problem with my bills being scrutinized. They are absolutely accurate and in keeping with my contract. Why would anybody be concerned unless they were trying to fudge the system, hmmmm?
As far as companies putting Spyware on ... pfffft. I go through a HIPPA compliance training session every year. Takes, what, 10 minutes? I sign the paper. Everybody's happy.

You work that many hours and I am sure there are a few screw ups here and there in your reports from tiredness. I mean even your posts are very hard to understand.
Not sure why the negativity and sarcasm ... kinda sounds like the old
lover scorned thing ... LOL. No company can probably say that it never runs out of work, but I have 2 accounts, and have only had to go to my secondary account maybe 10 times in the almost 1 year I have been there now. At least the management team at TT cares. I have worked for companies where I ran out of work, and the response I got was a laugh and just take the day off. At least TT will get you another account.
As far as your remark alluding to the fact that if we were so busy working, we wouldn't be here -- do you work 24/7? Also, TT is not a sweatshop. We are allowed breaks. 
Maybe you had a bad experience with them. No company is a great fit for everyone, that's for sure. I have seen people rave about companies on here, tried them myself, and thought YUCK.

I quit a couple of months ago and still get emails and phone calls asking for extra help, so maybe whoever said they are disorganized is correct. I didn't care for the account I had, but my supervisor was great.

when a recruiter keeps changing jobs too.. Maybe, it's because she is unsure of whether her companies do or DONT offshore... Hmmmmm...(scratching my head) Could just be the sad state of affairs in that before you know it, even the most solid people become job hoppers. I had ONE job for 10 years and all I have done since I started doing this at-home stuff is job hop. Very discouraging.

Got an offer... they admitted to lots of ESLs which is nothing new to me. Being an IC is nothing new to me either. The recruiter was a doll. I like to work independently, don't mind running out of work once in a while as that's the way things go at certain times of the year in this biz, but want pretty steady work most of the time. I don't mind being asked to work extra. I don't mind working one weekend day. I don't need a ton of flexibility all the time, but don't want to be called if I am half an hour late one day and hope to be trusted to make it up myself. I don't want or need to be babysat. Will I be happy, I ask the 8 ball?

They've taken all they are going to take from me. I am not going to waste any more time being angry. I hate the way things ended, but I refuse to accept the blame for any part of it because I know that was a lie too, even though they did try to blame the MTs. I know part of the problem was quality issues, but QA wasn't to blame for that either, although they have been.
It is time to pick up and move on. I think mgmt will reap what they sow. For those who worked on the main account Webmedx is still hiring, though the best time slots have already been taken.
