Anyone know what Medware's ins. for family coverage runs. Thinking of applying
Just looking for a company that offers decent insurance for family coverage.
Medware- Ballpark figure for cost of their family medical insurance. NM

BC/BS - single is reasonable and good coverage...
Family is outrageously expensive. I know they are trying to change it, but still expensive.
Keystrokes has new insurance (finally) that is reasonable and good coverage. sm
The cost for a single person is $404 per month but they pay 1/2, so it is $202 or $101 per pay check (1st and 15th). I received my papers and card and rx card last week and the coverage is better than the BCBS that I had with others. $20 per visit co-pay, instead of $50.
They do not pay anything on family coverage, IMO. That is why I would rather be an IC and buy
my own policy versus being an employee of a service. When you think about it, being an employee for most of the services out there offers no real benefits at all. I have found that the PTO that some of these companies offer as part of their benefits package is a crappy. You basically get paid a base hourly rate for any PTO you take and that base rate never EVER equals what you actually make when typing. So you are basically penalized for taking time off.
And health insurance benefit packages are a joke! They pay nothing for family coverage and not to mention there is always the threat looming over your head that if your production falls, they can take your benefits away.
If I were you, I would either be an IC and buy your own policy or try to get on with a hospital that offers work at home MT jobs. Hospitals are the only places that offer decent health insurance coverage for families. I have my own accounts and bought a health insurance policy for my kids and I, but recently I took a job with a hospital just for the insurance. So now I have my own accounts plus I work FT for a hospital from home. I pay $175 a month for family coverage with a $1000 family deductible. It was financially a smarter move for me to go to work as an employee with the hospital because I'm saving a bundle on insurance.
Again, let me say, I would NEVER go back to work as an employee for a service. They don't offer anything that I would consider benefits. You're better off buying your own policy.
Family coverage
is about $217 per pay period. I think you have to get this one if you have more than one child.
Yes they have family coverage
but I do not need that right now. I have a schedule but they are flexible hours so that really helps. Pay does include all spaces, but what I like is the direct deposit and the steady work. I have been with Medware for 2 years and always have work. If my primary is out they give you a back up account. Finally my income meets my needs and I can move ahead with some things around the house that needed fixing. Plus it's nice knowing I have good health insurance.
WMX has best overall family coverage
I absolutely agree 1000%!!! It has great benefits.
That is for family coverage.
Maybe there are people that might have had a different experience, but just giving my opinion. I have also heard their platform sucks before from other people.
I have it 2. Pay about $50 for full family coverage.
Yep, all maintenance is paid 100% - major stuff pays very well, too. I really like it, and have had it for years and years. Nothing exciting, but good basic dental coverage. I like the $1000 a year per kid for braces! Sure helps with 3 in them!! I think its just the normal probationary period til it starts - 3 months? Honestly don't remember reading anything about waiting a year for braces though.
That's not bad for single, but I really need family coverage.
Anyone know what these companies preminums are like for family coverage.. Thanks.
Goodness. I have coverage for a family of 4 for
less than that. I would have looked at options long ago.
My family coverage amount
I work for Axolotl and our insurance just changed at the beginning of the year, but I pay 134.00 every 2 weeks for mine. It's Aetna PPO insurance. I have coverage for myself, son and husband.
WEBMDX FAMILY COVERAGE INS-Does anyone know how much it is?

Are you looking for individual or family coverage?

Webmedx has the best overall family coverage plan.....nm
What is family health coverage like at AllType?

Thanks.. I really needed to have good family coverage.. I guess MDI is out for me.. nm
nm
I have single coverage - affordable - but don't know about family. Call them.

Are there ANY companies out there that actually offer decent family medical coverage??
Some are just downright ridiculous amounts. Right now, I am with a company that offers decent single coverage but the family is like $750 a month and I cannot just work for insurance. There has to be something left over to like....eat on... or pay bills. Any suggestions out there. I do have over 13 years of experience.
Thank you. Could you elaborate on the benefits, offer single medical coverage or family, PTO etc...
Thanks
Medware has been paying $14 for years, No cost of living increases there! nm

The ad says they treat MTs like family ... what a family that must be! LOL nm
wise
Thank goodness I am not the only one. I do not mind being on top of things, but it just seems anymore like you said that work is trickling in for UC versus where it used to be a good amount even with being up to date. I know we had President's Day last week, but even so we should be back up full steam already. I have a very hard time believing that they only have so much work considering what a huge facility they are.
you are wise to ask.
also, i think companies that have direct deposit are more generally more trustworthy.
You are VERY WISE, old owl.
nm
Wise of you.....
Was a joke when I was there. Got smart and got out!!!!!
you are wise! nm

Old and Wise
Thank you for understanding. Things were really crazy last week--lots of family trauma and drama, etc. Guess I was more tired than I thought. Anyway, I am praying that MTDays can find a good solution or catch a break. It makes me sad to see other MTs going through such difficulty. If she were in California, I could help.
Probably not too much different terminology wise, sm
but, as you know, differ from dictator to dictator. There wouldn't be any pediatrics in internal medicine.
I think that is a wise decision pls r/o
Like I said above, they are nice people, but nice doesn't pay the bills. I had glitch after glitch with Dictaphone TransNet. It was always MY FAULT somehow. LOL It was pretty archaic. One day I couldn't work for almost a whole day because the TransNet would not load up any jobs, but they kept saying it was MY computer and not theirs. Then they wanted to know how late I would be staying up to make it up! (BTW- lo and behold, it was THEIR SERVER at fault! LOL)
I think it is also wise to keep in mind.....
You get what you pay for. Wouldn't you agree? Bottom line, if you want the best, you will have to pay for the best. I can't get a Porsche for the price of a Saturn, unless there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with it. I think if I were in charge I would definitely have to think, what are MY goals as a business owner.
I don't think its wise to be naming sm
your account on this board.
Okie dokie. You got it, old wise one!
Might want to come back down to the real world and have some fun. Enjoy life!!!
yes they do, everything you need computer wise they supply. sm
very friendly user platform, pay always on time and correct, great bosses, great benefits, great sound quality, great QA people, all around a great place to work. Come on over to Webmedx. You will be glad you did.
Well, it sounds good pay wise, but (sm)
if you are not used to working the night shift, you may have difficulty. It always sounds good, like, I'll go to bed when I get home, but in reality, do you go to bed now when you're done working? Probably not. It may take you several hours to unwind, if you are like me, and by that time, you would have to be up with your daughter. I have seen several people over the course of my MT career try to do nights when they are not night people and it always ended up badly. Not to say it won't work for you, but just keep this in mind.
I think that is great. Very wise choice.
xx
It can be a toss up money-wise...
I made great money as an MT, and then went to QA. When I left QAing I was at 20/hour. I used to make a lot more $$ MTing. The benefits of hourly are that you know what you are going to make, and $20 an hour was OK for me. However, I hated QAing. As the other poster stated, it was so not worth the horror of the entire job. No $$ can make up for the psychological damage of QAing when MTs are geared to hate you. I also could not stand fixing up other's work, etc., and listening to nothing but the bottom of the already slimy barrel. Maybe it was just the company I was with, but the MTs just didn't give a darn anymore, and QA got stuck with just a mess and mgmt didn't care. Very stressful job. Returned to MTing and $$ is about equal now, but I have the joy of MTing back again, which is priceless. I looked for other QA jobs for a while, but heard that most pay by the line now, which is totally not worth it in my experience. MTs most times are underpaid, and I think QA all the time are underpaid! LOL. Good luck in your search.
for your wise and sagely advice NM

You are wise not to trust Transcend
Look where trusting MDI got all of us......
IC Status...is it worth it money wise?sm
If the company does not take out the taxes and you have to handle it yourself, do you find yourself making less than if you were employee status? I am trying to figure out if it would be worth my while to take an IC position or just look for a flexible part-time employee position. I need the flexibility of schedule but don't want a big portion of my pay going to taxes either. Any thoughts?
What are top 5 companies size-wise? MQ still largest? nm
,,
I think that is reasonable
as a starting point. I am making twice that, but with over 10 years experience, working on one hospital account, at 8 cpl plus incentive
No. Must mean that they are a fair and reasonable
company to work for. If not, I would have left a long time ago.
Reasonable rates
Reasonable rates to you may be unreasonable to others.
If you don't feel you're being paid for your experience, then you're not.
As you can see below, when MTs start posting anything regarding rates, line counts, etc., flames start.
Decide what is reasonable for you and what is fair compensation for your experience. If MQ isn't paying it, talk to them. If they are, then congratulations!
Because someone might ask you a reasonable question?
I don't get it.
yes, they have very reasonable ins rates
i do hope you will consider the Florida hospital account because we really need help on there. thanks
In my experience, it is reasonable to believe
That being said, some are capable of doing 3 times as many lines. A lot depends on the account.
Keystrokes: How reasonable do you think
it would be to expect this: We require a minimum of 1200 lines per day. This must be achieved within 1 week of starting on an account. For radiology accounts, we require a minimum of 120 reports per day. I ask how reasonable due to the fact of learning a new account, a new platform in all probability, getting down the account specs for each and every account if in a pool, entering with each report POSSIBLY new short cuts/macros if current Expander does not work with their system, loading of demographics in particular or whether they populate, and all the things, including ESLs, that impact production especially when starting over.
Keystrokes states nothing about a training period before starting on an account. Any current Key Strokes employees want to comment?
I don't think it is reasonable with ANY company.
The platform can be time-consuming. I know they have several Meditech accounts and they are not user friendly at all. I only had about an hour of training, but even if I had more it still takes actually using the platform to really learn it. Also you've got 200-300 dictators to deal with and you have to look up every name and that takes time. Then it depends on how good the dictators are, how good the sound files are, do you use a C-phone or get reports via FTP, etc. I just don't think it fair to expect anyone to be up to speed after only a week even if the platform is great, the dictators are great, etc. I also think that is more of a blanket statement. I have seen similar statements from other companies and it isn't enforced, but I know it sure can be a turn-off when you are looking for a position.
