Worst place I've ever worked. I hear a lot about

a better than average pay, but no one ever says what it is.  If you do QA they need to pay hourly.  When I was QA I was better off retyping the reports.

They use Start/Start and require you to purchase it.  When I worked there they got a $20 discount if you told the company you worked for SoftScript, not sure if still that way.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, but I do still have my foot pedal and software if you're interested.

Worst place I ever worked. Much of the same
info in the archives.  There is a reason they are constantly hiring and new accounts isn't one of them.
CBay is the worst place i EVER worked.
Liars and thieves. I do not like to be lied to and they did, all the time.
Yes, and it's the absolute worst. I've worked on a

I'm with you - best place I've ever worked. sm
I can't believe anyone is running out of work within the company (except for this week of lower account volumes). Goes to show that there are at least two sides to every story!
Yes, they are by far the worst place I
have every worked.
I wouldn't wish that place on my worst enemy. Tell her to run like she's running in the Olympi
xxx
Are you crazy? Worst dictators I've ever had...SM
I've been an MT forever and worked for several nationals on a lot of terrible accounts but FN is the worst dictation I have ever done. Office staff is terrific, pay is fair but I hate the dictators and am actively looking for a new job now that 2006 is here.
ESL's are killer, worst I ever worked on SM
Disagree about email. They leave you alone to do horrible work.
Worst company I ever worked for.
Sounds files are horrific, worst ESLs ever (and I'm very good with ESLs and do greater than 85% ESL), all kinds of internal problems, etc.   If you look back for previous posts you do find an occasional good post about them, but you'll find 10 bad ones for 1 good one.   There have even been people who ignored all the bad comments and went to work for them only to come back here and post that the bad posts were right and they were sorry they didn't heed them.    There is always work because there is such a turnover in MTs.   I also worked in QA and was offered a management position with them and the quality of the work I saw was so bad that I had to pretty much retype every file.
I second that-worst company I ever worked for also..nm
nm
DSG is one of the worst companies I have worked for
and I think they have a very high turnover rate. I did not even get my start-up paperwork for 3 weeks and I honestly feel this is because they have so many people quit the first 2 weeks they wait to see if you make it that far before they bother mailing out the package to you! I lasted 4 months - I was absolutely desperate or would have quit sooner. Their accounts are absolutely horrible, management is the worst I have ever seen - do not answer emails, demand you be on IM but only to IM you - never to answer an important question, if you bring up a legitimate question on an account specific they ignore you as if not important, inconsistent as heck on the account specifics, ask if they can call you and then finally call 2-3 days later, make a huge ordeal about minor things. Only thing they have going for them is the platform - other than that they pretty much are a horrible, horrible company and I would steer clear of them seriously.
Worst company I have ever worked for
I recently worked for Central Transcription Services (CTS) out of Michigan.  My account manager was great.  The pay was great - when I finally got it.  I don't know if they have cash flow problems or just poor management, but they NEVER  paid on time.  My last check there was 12 days late, which is why it was my last check....I quit!
NO..the only place I ever hear news on MQ is on MTStars.
Most of the time they don't even know who is working for them.  They never call.  They never write.
I have worked for a lot of companies and can tell you this has the worst mgmt of sm
any company I know. They are unprofessional and they do not know how to manage.  They are running around like chickens with their heads chopped off, play people against each other (watch behind you if you go there) and you really do not want to go there.  They do hire outside the U.S., almost everywhere actually-not just India, the Phillippines, but as far away as Australia. Their tech support is bad and the company could care less about those that work for them.  On an up note, they pay on time. That's all I can say about them that is good.  You would do better working for any other service that is around than working for them.
POLL:Worst company you ever worked for and why?

nm

Worst on-line company ever worked for
There is NO communication for MTs, between supervisors, QA, or anyone else. Company is highly secretive. QA is very rude!!! Receiving paychecks is consistently late. I would not advise working there for anyone.
Absolutely the worst company I have worked for. SM
Extremely disorganized, outdated platform (in terms of MedRiteXL), unprofessional management.
The exact same experience I had. Had the worst ESL dictation I've had in my life, was in tears NM
NM
I worked for this company and it was the worst experience of my career.
I would advise you to search the archives on this board. You will be able to make your own decision based on that info.
The platform used to be Apex. The worst thing I have EVER worked on.

I quit after a few days of struggling with that garbage. I made like $9 in two days LOL. I just remember typing a half hour only to get 30 lines and it was like over a full page of text. I'd say rip off...

Yes, I agree. The sound quality with VoiceWave Player is really bad. Worst I've ever heard.
x
What the heck? I've never heard that in the 8 yrs I've worked here. sm
Go back to your STM or over his or her head.
The best place I have worked
nm
Yep! Every place I ever worked for except

for the place I'm working for now.  My very first job right out of school was for a woman who owned her own company, and she had a son and a niece working for her.  The niece did more than her fair share, and in fact we became good friends after our dogs started having play dates together on our days off.  Her son, on the other hand, did all the easy psych work with all the templates and then went on to steal the ER work (also only docs with templates), and surpise... he always had the highest line counts of anyone.  Those were the days also when we got paid for headers and footers, patient info, everything, so he was making out like a bandit.

Also worked for MQ in-house when they had an office here close to my home.  Some people sat there and typed the hardest account we had all day, every day and barely made their minimum lines, and there was this one person who would type nothing but ER notes that had very long templates and ended up being an average of 3 pages each.  Then she had the nerve to brag about how big her checks were with all her bonuses and incentive.  I got a chance to type those two days in a row and I made 1400 lines a day more than I usually did on my main account.

I say share the fortune, be it good or bad.  The sooner we all get the bad work out, the sooner we can all get to the good work and start making money.  I also had one supervisor tell me that I do the harder work because I make more cpl, but hey, if you are sitting there typing easy stuff all day and using templates, you are making more money in the long run.

Because TT is not the only place I worked before, even
the hospital I worked for experienced lots of low work around the holidays.
I have worked now for the same place
for years and years and like you, when we had close to 50 inhouse MTs we never ran out of work, never and now it seems to be at least once a month type situation. I really do not feel like ours is sent overseas and the reason I said this is when inhouse some tried to be sent and the physicians were really upset and brought back then to Americans MTs. I can now afford to take off a day or 2 here and there but years ago I HAD to work, at least 2 jobs then to make a living and like I said (and you might know) the money then was very good. I now think about my other coworkers possibly being in the same financial situation as I was once and if we are low/run out I will just tell my company I will take off that day. Now that is not saying I want to do every day or week but to let others who might need it really bad I can do that. I have no idea what the answer is to this because it seems to be wide spread. We ran out this past week and now on this wkend all kinds of work to do if we want - but with all the ESLs gosh I just do not want to put up with them when I don’t have to (today is off day for me).
The many negatives? You're the only one I've seen bash it. Not every place is for everyone.
x
Great place to work. I've been there a year.
Exactly what do you want to know?
Highest I've hear was MQ but I
VR doesn't pay anywhere near what it should for the work that needs to be done with it.
I've learned that when I hear:
'You won't notice any difference, except things will be even better'  whether it's about a change in ownership, a switch to VR, top management change, etc., my resume should start circulating.  Three times I have given a company the benefit of the doubt and adopted a 'wait and see' attitude.  I've been assured that the new situation will be a worker's paradise, that they've got my back, are looking out for me, that I am the backbone of the company.  I've waited, I've seen, and now I will no longer do this.
They are the least micromanaging place I have ever worked for.
nm
have either you or Annie worked for either place?
nm
I'd go with Keystrokes. The best place I have EVER worked for!!
x
That happened to me at the first place I worked in house. -sm
I had to call them after a month of waiting for my last paycheck. They said they were waiting for me to come down and get it. Can you believe that? They finally put it in the mail.
I worked for a place that had antiquated software before, so (sm)
ExText seems great to me, and no I am not management.
I once worked in place where we were treated like dirt - sm
365 days a year, INCLUDING during MT week. Yeh, they gave us trinkets or sometimes a pizza party, but still jumped on our @$$es as soon as the party was over, about how far behind we'd fallen on our work. I'd rather get NO trinkets, NO week, and no public recognition, and simply a decent living wage and a little professionaal respect.
I have worked for them for three years - great place.
Excellent pay and benefits. PTO is better than most companies. They match our 401-K. I like my account and my TL.

Feel free to e-mail me for more information.
Never worked for that place, but sounds like old MTSO
xx
Very good place to work. When I worked there
I was paid $0.10 Canadian per line with spaces.  That was before the US dollar went below the Canadian dollar.  I think they hire mostly US MT's as there aren't enough in Canada.  I think you can also get employee status there.  Great bunch of people.  I would highly recommend them.
Not Intermountain, but one place I worked for years ago sm
had a gimmick where if there were a blank or two in a report, a comma somewhere where where they did not think it belonged, a sentence transcribed in a tense they did not like, they called it a junk chart and would not pay the MT for the report. With that along with constant and nasty mails they regularly had mass exoduses.. It's the only time in 17 years in this field that I finally had a belly full one day and just up and quit with no notice, no anything, just quit.
I have not worked for MQ but what I hear about them sm
seems way worse than Sebmedx. Been with Webmedx since 2003, no problems for me here. Plenty of work, great pay, great boss, new incentive program, no slow issues any longer. Give them a try.
I hear ya. Never worked for a company sm
who ran out of work so much in my life. Four accounts and no work again. It's so disgusting anymore. I am out of here as soon as I find something else.
Have to punch a clock at Webmedx too. I even worked briefly for a place sm

that had a little popup window come up when you had been gone too long and you had to fill in the reason why you were gone.  A little bit too Big Brother for me.

If a company does not make overtime mandatory, and I simply want to make some extra money and get some more lines in, I ought to be able to do so without the company being forced to pay me time and a half.  Sometimes we shoot ourselves in the foot demanding this and demanding that, and soon we end up with less than we had before ....but that is just my opinion.

I've used both PC SH & Instant Text and they are comparable ... would love to hear comparison (s
Shorthand (or my version of it) seems to have a compatibility problem with the Bayscribe platform Expander ...so I just use ShortHand (I don't know if it's just my quite old version or not) ...

I switched from Instant Text to Shorthand when the in-house Meditech job I was working agreed to install Shorthand for the department.

I believe they both have 90 day or some such downloadable trials.

If you have more than one computer, it's not a bad idea to buy the disk and documentation so if you need/want to reinstall it, it's there ... though that may be old school thinking on my part.

Good luck.
I love it there...best place I have worked...plenty of work, pay on time, excellent communication...
wonderful supervisors...who could ask for more?
Getting the worst shift and worst work are two different things...
If you are new, you may not get the best shift, but everyone should share in the difficult work. No one person should be stuck with ESLs because they are new. Maybe the new hires won't get first pick of holidays...things like that, but shouldn't get stuck with all ESLs. Doesn't make sense.
I've worked for both.
I prefer MDI-FL of the two. It also depends on what you're looking for out of a company. MDI-FL was far more flexible with regard to account assignment, work schedule, and line commitment. You've read the archives. There are pros and cons to each employer. My personal opinion is that MDI-FL is the better of the two. I'd go back there if I hadn't found my current position. Medware, never.
I've never actually worked for her, but she's
a very nice person.
I've worked for them before....
Usually that happens when they are waiting for the account to actually start up.  Just send her an email asking her about the status of the account/your start date.
I've never worked anywhere but MQ

until recently, but if you like the DocQScribe platform, you might want to look into DSG.  I tested and interviewed with them and was offered a decent pay of 9 cpl.  I originally accepted a position with them but ended up turning them down b/c they wanted more of a schedule commitment from me than I wanted to give.  For the short while that I was on their communication roster, they seemed to have a lot of work available in DSG-II and they offered bonuses almost every weekend to work extra that were paid back to the first line that you typed for the day it was offered.

The people I spoke with there seemed pretty nice.  Like I said, I never actually worked for them, but had I not wanted the true IC status, I would have.  I really liked the idea of working on DQS, especially since I'm not familiar with any of the other platforms out there (until now).

Good luck in whatever you decide.  There are a lot of archives on here for Keystrokes if you check.  Don't really know anything about Transcend other than the constant jobs they post.  That would kind of make me wonder, but maybe they've hit a growth spurt.  If you do end up at DSG, please email me and let me know what they're like.  If things don't work out with my new job, I may try them again.  The recruiter was open to that idea.

I've never worked for them, but -
I'd call (or at least email the recruiter) and find out if there's a problem, or if they've simply forgotten. As I indicated, I've never worked for them, but if I were waiting to start a job, I'd be shaking somebody's tree to find out the reason for hold up.

Good luck :-)
