Work not taken-Give company a chance

I have been with Transcend for almost 6 years and while they are not a perfect company they are better than most. There have been mergers in the past-I actually came from the other MDI (which was a much more laid back company). As far as I've seen with past mergers you get to keep your work. They don't take you off it and give it to someone else. That makes no sense to have to train new MTs for your accts and you on something else. I know you are unhappy that you have to make a change but give Transcend a chance. They are a good company. Is it a good fit for everyone? No, but you won't know until you give it a chance with an open mind. And before the bashers get on and say I am management, I am not, just another in the trenches MT who has worked for other services in the past. As far as outsourcing, I know it is done but as far as I can tell it is not a lot. I work on 2 different platforms and both have plenty of work and have had for quite a while now.

Yes, I say give them a chance... SM
Because overall they ARE a good company. I cannot say that they are the very best, and will fit every single person, because they're not and will not. The QA dept really isn't too bad either, but they are very... sensitive I guess. You may never ever have a problem with any of them, and I know that most of them below the manager and a particular team lead are perfecly competent and nice. So don't even let that worry you. :) I wish you luck with your new position!

Give em a chance
I have been with Transcend for over 2 years now and I love it. They will assign more accounts for you as needed when you are out of work. There are more options than just jumping ship. They are a very good company to work for.
I would give her a chance...but
I would give her a chance to sing her song, but she does not sound like someone who would recognize a loyal employee whether she found one or not. She demonstrates many of the symptoms of an employer/client who regards an MT as part of the equipment, and I consider myself an expert at attracting those types.
Give them a chance
I agree with Hope. There are those of us who have not had 20+ years experience. We have taken minimal paying positions in order to get experience and for once, we would like to be given the opportunity to make some money and just given a chance to show we can do the work. As most recent graduates will agree, it can be very fustrating when every resume sent out is replied with contact us after you have experience.
I would expect QA to bring to my attention my weaknesses and where I needed to put more effort. Sometimes I read this forum and think how ungrateful some people are and maybe they are just burnt out with the industry and should find a new career. There are those who are new and hopeful we can eventually earn a reasonable income working at home doing something we like doing. Otherwise, we would never have taken the time out of our busy lives to return to school. Try being more positive and do not scare the new job seekers.
I have recently been hired by Focus and I know what is expected of me. Not many jobs pay top dollar for a person to sit at home in their pajamas. The least we can do is do the work without bitching.
Give Transcend a chance
First of all, hello to all of you from MDI-MD.
I certainly know where you are all coming from. In January of 2005, Sue and I decided to sell MDI-FL to Transcend. We worried and prayed over it. We had over 500 employees and hoped that they all would understand and stay on with us, as I felt they were the best MTs in the world. I spoke to each and every one of our MTs and explained the situation, telling them that as far as I knew nothing would change; that Transcend was a great company who cared about their customers and MTs, as well as quality, which I never wanted to jeopardize. After getting to know Larry Gerdes, the CEO of Transcend, we knew that this was going to be a great fit.
Our MTs were all a little afraid, but fortunately they believed what I told them and about 90% stayed with us and I am thrilled to say are still with us. (Thanks Deb, Sheila and Carmen for your very kind words).
I know what you are going through. Try not to be too hard on MDI-MD. I do not know anyone there, but I have heard they are an extremely nice group of people who think the world of all of their MTs and also are great to their customers. I know when we sold MDI-FL all of our MTs remained on the exact same accounts that they had been on, so I don't see why we would do anything differently now.
Yes, Transcend does send a very small percentage of our work to India - I believe 15%. This will never replace our hard-working US force of MTs.
I would just wish you all would not be so harsh on MDI-MD. In the past, I have seen many of you write such nice things about them. They didn't merge with Transcend to hurt you. After working for us for a while, you might even like it. We are very well known for our flexibility, flex-time, etc. You will see that Sue (who is now President and COO) and Larry (our CEO) both have an open door policy, the ROMs are great and the Team Leaders are also.
I hope I was of some help to you. If you would like to send me an e-mail, you may at Liz.McGrogan@trcr.com. Good luck to each and every one of you. I do hope you decide to give Transcend a chance!
Thanks again,
Liz McGrogan
Former Co-Owner of MDI-FL

I call 5 years a chance. Give me the
old MDI where I was not a number, I was a human. I am now a disposable piece of equipment, a robot that they flip the switch to on or off as they want. I do not have all those FABULOUS days, and wonderful weekends that I hear about. I used to call the office but after 5 years I do not think anyone there even remembers my name. This is big business at its worst. Money gets to some people and makes them feel they are better than us peons who make them that money. I deal with people that I have never heard of before and some that are not that nice.
My price of gas tripled and my pay checks have been cut in half.
Dont gripe is will not even give them chance to reply.
nm
Maybe the company you work for would give you an advance? sm
Depending upon where you work, how long you have been there, size of the company, etc., that might be a consideration. Also, maybe other temporary work, like Kelly Girls (if they even have that anymore). I know we used to have temps in our office that were paid every week.
The pawn shop idea might be a good one. I think if you don't have the money in 30 days, you can just pay the interest or whatever. You wouldn't lose the instruments. If you are willing to part with someone, ebay and Craigslist can provide some quick cash. Good luck to you. I am my sole support, and I have been in tight situations before and know how scary that can be. My heart goes out to you.
MedWrite Transcription... anyone work/worked for this company can give me any info?
Is this company by chance DSG? nm
nm
by any chance - is this a company in Maine
xx
Is this by any chance a company that starts with "M"??? nm
x
Not a chance in the world. Why would I let the company get beat up again sm
when it has been quiet for the past few weeks?
The company sounds wonderful, by chance....
do you need a really dedicated Radiology MT????
Is Caretech a company located in Michigan by any chance. nm
;
By chance, are these people calling "non-Americans" I worked for a company
who shall remain nameless but their supervisors were in India and would IM me constantly to do a STAT. Even though, I would try tellin them I was not working that day or that I was going somewhere. They continued to ask. It was bizarre. I kept think, what part of English DONT you understand..NO..I thought meant the same everywhere. They are just the only poeple I have dealt with that just doesnt comprehend rejection of any sort, but that's just me.
Do u work for SS by any chance??? sm
Had a lovely email from mgmt with misspellings and incorrect grammar tonight -- so was just curious!
Goodluck - consistent work? not a chance. nm
nm
Yes, no work situations which have been occurring lately have given us the chance
to TAKE DAYS OFF WITHOUT PAY ! Surprise times, they are, too. Not anything MT's can plan for !
I sure didn't get that from mine - do you work on Radnet by chance? sm
That's a hospital-based platform and anyone who works on that is more inclined to have issues. Whatever your platform problems, they are not company-wide, that's for sure.
or maybe it's really a good company. Give me a break. If a company isn't talked about sm
on here, good or bad, it's probably too small to matter and does not offer benefits or anything at all.
I get what you are all saying about them not having to give give you work, but...
I guess I just figure that as an IC, I am basically my own business and it is my responsibility to make sure that the work is done when it should be. I just think that if the standard of the company is 24 hour TAT then that is what I am agreeing to do when they hire me. There are advantages for both of us to the IC senerio, they do not have to pay benefits, or take care of collecting and reporting the taxes, and I have to adhear to the 24 hour TAT (or what every thier standards are) but can do that during hours that are convenient to me. Of course it is better for the company if they know exactly when I am going to be sitting at my desk and typing that is why they have the option of hiring employees. Just my opinion and wanting things to be like they used to be.. I guess I have to get out of my time warp or look a little harder for a company who really knows what IC status means.
Can you give the name of the company - sm
I am in the process of looking for a new job and really don't want to choose one that doesn't pay on time!
TIA!
And, why don't they give their company name?
They should be up front about it. It would save everyone a lot of time.
You need to give a reason. Not every company
is a good match for every MT and someone may have had a personality conflict or some such thing so then they say it is a bad company. You need to list facts like they don't pay on time, their line counts are off, sound quality is terrible, etc.
Can you give us the first letter of the company's name.
nm
Can you give me any specifics on this company?
Could you give me any specifics on this company? I would like to know more. Thanks.
Does any company give raises?

nm

nm

nm

nm
For IC status, that's an insult. Can you give us a company name?

I have been at Keystrokes a while and have to give kudos to what I think is the best company out the
not always great in the beginning and I left and came back a few years ago. I am so glad that I did. The changes have been wonderful. I think it is refreshing to see a company actually improve over time with growth instead of going downhill.
I agree with you!
Clever way to give-up a company name that doesn't
Company start with an "E"..give us a hint. If they are doing it to someone else too, then I
Throwing in the towel is one way of putting it. I've done this routine too many times.
Can you give me a hint as to which company? The same thing happens to me too and I am an IC. nm
xxx
it's okay to give company names, per moderator.
nm
I mean, any info you can give me about this company would be greatly appreciated.
nm
Can you give us the name of the company and if it's clinic or acute care? Thx. nm

Can you give the initials of this company to save others some grief? nm

Then you need to be professional, give a company website than can be checked out sm
and let people apply there. Why in the world would you expect people to get their personal info to you, if you are less than professional yourself. I certainly would not, especially after your post here.
How is turning you down for a position rude? Are they, or any other company, obligated to give you
No. As a recruiter, I am seeing this more and more. Maybe the hours you were available did not match what they needed. Maybe your equipment or speciality or background did not match. How is it rude not to hire someone? There would be no need for interviews if everyone was just hired because they applied. I did not understand most of this until I started recruiting. The company I work for is spoken well of on this board and then bashed at other times. I see a lot of people that think they are entitled to a position or a shift or a certain account. It is difficult to be on this side.
We give up on your naysayers. Great company, but if you choose to believe it's fishy, your loss.
nm
Is it safe to ask a company after one year for a raise? Do companies give raises?
Curious
I currently work for KS..If I were you, I would give (sm)
it maybe a little more time, just to see if it gets better. But as soon as you really think it's definitely not for you, I would contact the client manager in the office and tell them it's not working out for you on this account. They have been more than fair with me and I believe they will do all in their power to accommodate you. If you don't know for sure who to contact about it, talk to Becky and she will either help you or direct you to the right person. Good luck!
I also work both until I am sure new job will work out. Then give 2 weeks.
:+
how do we work it? Easy answer - work for another company. That happened with the company
I was working for. I would wake up at 4 a.m. AND ON THE WEEKENDS TOO because they needed "coverage" supposedly and I would sit until 9:30 or noon without any work. Sorry, but my rent of $1450/month could not be paid with only $57/day. So I got another job and when I got the equipment and everything, then I quit for the other employer.
I don't work for them, but can give some info
I interviewed with them several months ago. For level 3 acute care, I was offered 10 cpl for IC, 11 cpl over a certain number of lines per week. For IC, line requirement was 1000 lines per week and seemed that they would be very flexible. Use your own computer if IC.
I was also offered 8.5 cpl for employee status (with incentives depending on lines per hour worked). I think they required 20 hours per week and have to keep an average of at least 150 lines per hour (it sounded like they had a time clock system). They provide the computer if employee status.
Everyone I spoke to was very nice, especially the recruiter. I turned the offer down due to reasons not relating to the company in particular. They did tell me that they had a lot of ESL (the test consisted of all ESL), but I don't know if this would apply to ER. Hope this helps.
Ask for extra work, they are probably willing to give it if it's there. nm
