If this were a male-predominant industry, I can guarantee you the companies would be offering more or else they wouldn't have any workers. Men don't stand for the stuff women do. I don't understand why women do not think they are worth a fair wage, decent benefits, and a little vacation time here and there. Many say this is just a part-time gig while they raise a family. Does that mean your time is less valuable? I just don't get it.

Somehow, what I saw on GMA translated into opportunity for India. Hmmm. Also found a reference to a reduced rate for the CMT exam in India. Is this fair? Not in my book.

It really is time for American MTs to unite
There's only one way we're going to be able to continue doing medical transcription, and that's if the flood gates to India get closed, tightly and permanently.
I think at this point we have all, collectively, HAD IT with this cr@p.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We've been backed into a corner with no options left other than to stand up and fight these crooks.
(And they're ALL crooks.)
We have to unite and fight back before other MTSOs
In my non-attorney opinion (I am NOT and never have been an attorney or paralegal and I am NOT giving legal advice) and knowing that Transtech will be reading this, I, for one, will give you any support you need. Their case is not worth your time, but you are stuck with it. Since I know that some attorneys can nickel and dime a client to death, here are some things you might want to have with you when you visit your attorney. (I realize you may already be in the process of compiling this information and I do not mean to be presumptuous, I just want to help. I know when my brain is processing a million things, I sometimes forget some basic ones and am thankful when someone reminds me. Please take this as an offer of help.)
1. Copies of ALL your posts from May of 2009 to July 29, 2009.
2. Copies of all the posts for the other five user names alleged by TransTech from May of 2009 to July 9, 2009, especially the one they referenced about the “CEO.” You may have to contact MTStars to see if you can get them to confirm that your e-mail is not connected to those posts.
3. Copies of all the POSITIVE posts about working at TransTech.
With regard to TransTech’s statement: “These defamatory posts have affected TransTech’s reputation in the industry and have damaged it financially as well as by causing prospective employees not to pursue job opportunities with TransTech.”
1. Print out as many negative posts about other MTSOs (MQ, Webmedx, Spheris, Focus), especially if there are any from the other five user names that they allege in the lawsuit.
2. See if maybe MTStars would allow you to run a petition to disprove TransTech’s statement “…by causing prospective employees not to pursue job opportunities with TransTech.” Any Medical Transcriptionist/Editor Job Seeker who reads ANY post (on MTStars or any other Board) knows that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, there are lovers and haters. There are as many cheerleaders as there are detractors. Every Job Seeker knows to take anything posted with a grain of salt and we all know that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I, for one, am currently looking for employment and I, for one, would sign a petition stating that nothing I read on MTStars, pro or con, influences my decision as to whether or not I would apply at TransTech (or any other MTSO for that matter) if they advertise a job opening. If you can get 50 or 100 other Medical Transcriptionists to sign a petition stating that your posts had no influence on them as far as pursuing job opportunities, that part of TransTech’s allegations would be proven to be without merit.
There is no Medical Transcriptist Union, but that does not mean that the approximately 100,000 Medical Transcriptionists in the United States will not stand up for each other, especially when it comes to Free Speech. We have to show the MTSOs that we do watch each other’s backs and no MTSO can get away with suing an individual Medical Transcriptionist without insulting us all.

Sure you can post your name. Your posts don't get deleted. But let anyone express one negative word about your company, and POOF... like magic, it's gone. Better HR??? A friend of mine just two weeks ago went through the same six weeks of waiting for equipment, unreturned phone calls, etc., etc. The only thing that has changed is that no one is allowed to complain.

I don't need it to meet anything, have been meeting it for going on 2 years now, what then??? We are all on mandatory OT because of the abundance of work we have...unlike MOST companies, where the MTs have to fight over what little work is available...

I agreed with your post 100% right up until you said ASR is not being thrust upon us. Are you kidding, the rate is HALF that of straight typing and SOME of us can type pretty dang fast. I for one NEVER want to do ASR, don't care how many people love it. I know I will never make the money I do now typing the actual report, AND to see my main account diminish by greater than 75% is not encouraging. I hang in there each and every day. I have absolutely no problem with the company, just the way ASR has taken over all my work.

with your relentless rah-rahing! Sweety pie, work has been low at TT for months and months...not just now. Yes, you certainly are newer TT because you as an overhire are taking the work away from those of us who have been in there for the long haul! Secondly, it has always been my experience that doctors work wayyyyy over 40 hours a week, and someone else mentioned that this low/no work is due to the holiday...what the heck??? July 4 was LAST weekend, with it probably being observed in the work force on FRIDAY...so that is hogwash, absolute hogwash. When MTs who have been with this company for years say there is low/no work and it is a problem, THEY MEAN IT IS A PROBLEM, not just due to a holiday or low volume period...
I will agree with you on one thing, and that is things are not greener anywhere else right now, so that is probably why we are hanging on with our fingernails where we are at you dumb A. MT is slowly going down the toilet...but with many of us in all stages of life, choices may be limited as to profession change, and especially with the economy the way it it, so DO NOT be so quick to judge!!!  And don't bother spewing your venom on me, I won't answer.

I don't know, maybe would be better. When I began, pay scale was great -- could make a VERY good living. I think it is more the mergers and free trade agreement and little government regulation that is bringing us down. Lots of men in factory work have been plunged into poverty by corporate greed.

Yes, I believe the MT industry has gone all out, especially the home-based, in exploitation of women. These MTSOs are pushing to get by with as much as they can. How many guys do we see now as MTs?? There used to be a fair number of men doing transcription ... no more. Maybe these guys got wise a long time before we ever will. Women have always gotten the dirty end of the stick in the work force, but the MT industry has carried it to extremes, making demands they wouldn't make in any other industry... lower salaries, being manipulated re. schedules and hours, cheated on line counts, unpaid demographic work, etc. etc. etc. I could go on and on. It will stop when we make it stop.... sadly, there are MTs who so desperately need the income they'll put up with it.

I did note something on MTStars Job seekers, Transcription Express had an ad (I did not see another one a few below this one) but in the newer ad, gave her email and said use this one as she had no replies, guess she figured they did out go through on the board. So later I clicked on the first ad. It offered 7 cents (THUS, I would guess nobody was biting) HOO RAY) That is how to get the rates up but nobody will. Look how they accept 3-4 cents a line on VR. Pitiful.

HOW TRUE...from romance to finance, women are the first...
to sell each other out. At least men have their 'man code' even when it doesn't make great sense to me. The same man that will cheat on his wife would NEVER sleep with his best friend's wife...go figure.
Men will at least stand up and say I will not be treated like this and damn the consequences while women tiptoe around hoping things won't get any worse. My biggest problem is the corporate suits, mostly male, get this and do use it against us.

Sure do agree with you WORKING women set a good example for kids and
SCHOOL and DAY CARE never replace a mother. A 2 person family with a stay at home mom does not make a great kid. I see messed up kids from stay at home families all the time, the wealthier they are sometimes, the more entitled and into alcohol and drugs the kids turn out. A child sees the mother providing for them and it makes them feel loved and secure. I do not want my daughter to be a stay at home mom. I was her to have a career and to always have confidence and to be able to support her family whether there is a husband or not. Not all husbands make enough to keep a family going. Some people are just very narrow minded.

I have a subscription to writersmarket.com to find places to submit, and there are a few market list databases at other websites. I'm just starting out again myself after giving it up a couple of years ago. The few articles I was paid for weren't worth much at all. I've got a few book ideas I'm working on, too, but I never have time for it.
What have you done with your writing so far? Do you belong to any writing groups or anything?
That is terrible. You know, those women have no idea how to handle all these big university accounts
that are moving up there. They are very very wrong about some of the things they do and it seems like they really dont know as much as they would like you to think they do. That is absolutely disgusting that they did that. I hope that MT reported them to anyone in New Jersey they could find. I would have taken that as far as I could have if I would have been her to the CEO. That is just horrendous. My goodness, why does MQ continue with them. I believe firmly if you make enough calls you will find someone that is willing to listen and take the info where it needs to go I believe that.
